Hardcore Series

Hi everybody,

I am seriously considering ordering the hardcore series. I didn't order in the first round with the best price, but I am still willing to order.

My question is this. If you have only been doing Cathe for 3 months would you still order? I have been doing Slow and Heavy, PUB, Power Hour, SS, and PP. Biceps are usually 10 or 12 lb. weights. Chest flys 15 lb. dumbells. I know this weight might sound light but I am still a beginner.:)

Slow and heavy and Pyramids are my favorites. I run so I get a lot of cardio. I know I should crosstrain more, but I do not own any of Cathes step workouts. I have some from FitTV but of course those are missing segments.

Any helpful advice out there? I don't want to waste my money if it is going to be way out of my league, but I would be interested if it were somewhat similar to Cathe's other stuff and I could adapt and use lighter weights. I feel I am reasonably fit, but have 20 lbs. to lose.

Hello there...I am just roaming all over the place.
Do you enjoy doing Step? Would you do it if you bought them? Those are the questions you probably need to ask yourself.
As for your weights, I think the weight you are using is great for a beginner.I certainly wasn't using that much.Its never out of your league if you are familar with working out.The challenge is doing a workout that is to tough and then building yourself up.
I definitly think that you will enjoy the weight workouts.But if you are not sure if you are going to do the cardio then you may want to just order the weight workouts.
And you never know, you may find step to be a great way to mix everything up a little.

lorihart-yes I do enjoy step and have done step with keli roberts, karen voight back in the day and have done step at the YMCA. So yes I would do step if I had the DVD's. But I haven't done any of Cathe's step workouts. When I hear people talking about IMAX I get scared.:)
 
From what you've stated you are doing now, I see no reason at all why you couldn't do Hardcore. Any workout can be modified or intensified. You'll probably regret it later if you don't get it now!

I'm scared to but you have to face your fears!:) I think you will be in awe of how much abuse your body can take!You haven't had a good workout until you've done one of the Imaxs.Why don't you buy Imax 2 and give it a try?

NurseLRT....I agree with Ruth....any workout can be modofied to fit your needs. I started with Keli Roberts, Kathy Smith and Karen Voight too and I would say most of Cathe's step is a bit more intense and just plain FUN!! compared to the others. I think alot of us modified parts of Imax2 for quite awhile...:)...you never know until you try...:)....Carole
 
Lori! Just do it! You can always modify anything that doesn't suit you! Also, the goal isn't to match Cathe, it's to do the best YOU can do! You won't regret this purchase if you make it! :) :)

I think I would get others first (maybe the Body Blast series). Personally, I'm only getting Stretch Max and Core Max for now. They seem to be the ones that are totally different from the other workouts that I have.

By the way...I don't think flys (flies?) with 15lb sounds light! Cathe even says that flies put you in a position where you can't handle as much weight, so don't you go thinking you're a wuss!:D

Don't be afraid of the IMAX workouts, they aren't really as bad as you think they'd be. Now Kick, Punch, Crunch...be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

My workouts have been so much better since I learned this. I always tried to match the instructors on weight and intensity. I would be so discouraged when I couldn't. Now I just do the best I can. Modify what I can't do and have a good workout and lots of fun. After all these are our workouts.

Okay everybody......I ordered last night. OMG my dh is going to kill me. I haven't told him yet. My plan is to make this house sparkle, have a wonderful dinner on the table when he gets home from work today and break it to him gently. I know this sounds incredibly immature. I should of just told him last night.

It's not like we are scraping pennies but it is a big purchase and it seems like I have been shopping like a maniac lately. Thanks everybody for the great advice. I don't think I will regret this awesome series!!
