Cathlete
I am getting ready to go do cardio and abs. We go out for Italian tonight so I had better make it count:D My legs are sore this morning after all of the plyo yesterday. They have been sore since all of the kettlebell swings Mon but now I added to it. I probably need to get out the foam roller.

gm ladies-
yesterday was HIIT training on the treadmill. I went for 25 min. 5 min jog warmup, 7 rounds of 30 sec on 90 sec off and then one 15 sec on 45 off w/ 5 min cool down. Calorie burn was 431 which was suprising.

diane sue-do you use a video for the foam roller or just your own stretches? what makes it so much different than any other type of stretch? I've been intrigued for quite some time.

Oh and Linda-yeah I'm glad you're alive and doing fine :D

Today was cardio and I chose Kick, Punch & Crunch. Did it all plus the ab work. LOVE that ab work in this workout. It is just fun. Had a great, sweaty workout. I was able to get my HR up with this one by giving it my all and wearing my 1# weighted gloves.

HR STATS:
1 hr. 6 minutes total
7 minutes below zone
17 minutes in zone
41 minutes above zone
513 calories burned!
:D

I feel good today. My mom is coming home tomorrow and I cannot wait for her to see her kitchen!

Be back later for personals.

Morning Maniacs -

Ugh...did not feel like working out again. Still have this migraine and feel stiff. Back still kills me. Stress at work continues with cattiness. The girl who is my age (to whom I'm closest) now went off on me about sales. It just gets worse and worse the slower we are.........can't take it....sorry for the vent.

I did Amy's In the Ring Premix this morning. Big mistake. I'm not used to this workout enough to follow that well. I should have chosen something simpler so I could take out my work frustrations. I had a decent workout even though I had difficulty following. Max HR was only 158 (might have gotten hit a few times if I'd really been in the Ring!!) and I burned 719 in 64".

Have great workouts everyone.

Diane Sue -I'm afraid of my foam roller when it comes to my legs!! I know I need it...but it hurts.

Deb - can you believe Claudia is dead on GH? Oh well, she can always come back as someone else, right? LOL.

Also - this is from Ravi & Ana's recent newsletter explaining Kundalini Yoga....just in case anyone here has ever been curious about this unique type of yoga. (since this is how your first interaction with kundalini might possibly go if you were to try it).

"Hi, I was very satisfied with your service and have no complaints, but I did not know the item (Fat Free Yoga) I purchased was for a different type of yoga. I am familiar with hatha yoga. That was my mistake, I probably did not read all of the information on the item. I tried the DVD and found it a little strange, can I return this item?

Thanks for writing. You can definitely return this item. However please try it one more time and if it doesn't grow on you then we'll be happy to give you a full refund. Kundalini Yoga differs from hatha yoga in the sense that's it's not so much a classical system (emphasis on how it looks as in a dance form), but with more emphasis on what it does, specifically glandular balance, restoring energy flows in the body, reducing stress, promoting peace of mind, maintaining youth and beauty, toning and strengthening the body, and promoting spiritual growth. Fat Free Yoga works on weight loss from the inside out. Many people who practice Fat Free Yoga regularly report amazing results. Calories burned is only one part of the weight loss equation. There are many other levels involved: emotional, metabolic, and energetic. Fat Free Yoga works on all of these simultaneously."

PS...........Papa Roach concert is on Saturday.....woohoo!

My workout is finished and I need to get a shower and finish cleaning up around here. Not sure if the people we are going to dinner with are coming here or we are going to their house.
I started with Kelly's 30 minutes to fitness kickbox knockout mix( both workouts with w/up and stretch) and also did the abs total time was 67 minutes and I only burned 409 calories Max HR only got to 140. So I put in Turbo Jam Fat Blaster because I knew it would get the HR up
icon_biggrin.gif
I burned another 211 calories Max HR was 164. Then since I was getting into Turbo Jam I did Ab Jam followed by STS yoga based abs. I finished with Kimberly Spreen's Fusion Stretch from Combat Surge. Total calories burned today as 852.

Theresa, sometimes I use a dvd for the foam roller and other times I just do some of the things that I know for different areas. There are so many different things that you can do with the foam roller. Lawrence Biscontini on talks about how the myofacsial work breaks up collagen. He does some stuff on his dvd that really hurts but it sure works the tight places out. I will say that is not a fun dvd but I have learned a lot from it and I am not fond of his manner as an instructor. He talks to much so I just go on and do some rolling while waiting for the next segment. I really did like Kelly Roberts foam roller workout Flexibility for the inflexible a lot. I also do some of the foam roller and stretch segments from a Muscle and Fitness hers magazine that I have. You do some rolling and then do some stretching for the muscle group. Really with some moves you get stretching and others are like getting a deep tissue massage.

Lora, you got a better calorie burn than I do when I do In The Ring. I generally hit around 575 calories with that workout.

Debbie, that will be fun seeing your mother's face when she sees what all you have done. I bet she loves it:D

Theresa - You do such cool things on your treadmill. Do you listen to music when you do this? I'm sure you do. I need to do one of those kinds of workouts you do one of these days.

Lora - Sorry you didn't have a great workout with In the Ring. It took me a good four times of doing that workout to learn it. There are still parts of it that I stumble through. LMAO!!! That is one fun workout, though. And I knew Claudia was going to be killed, I was just shocked it was Michael that did it. The show has been REALLY good lately. Did you see Maxie died her hair? I don't like it.

Diane Sue - LMAO on you just HAVING to get that HR up. You crack me up. Nice job! I'm going to try Kelly's Step Boxing workout on Saturday. Looking forward to it!!! And I cannot wait to see my mom's face when she goes into her kitchen. I hope I remember to bring a camera.

I miss Char.... :(

Debbie-I listen to Pandora.com. It's free internet radio and you set it to music you like (i.e song, artist, genre-it helps you find new songs and bands to try out) and rock out. I really like club music b/c it has a good beat. The hill sprints on the treadmill are brutal but great-you should give them a try if you are short on time or not in the mood for cardio. Oleysa gave me a HIIT where I will warm up for 5 minutes and then do 15 rounds of 15 on/45 off and then 10 min cool down. It is very time efficient :D And you're almost done with STS, are you excited? glad your mom's coming home.

Diane Sue-where did you get your foam roller? Would it be good for scapular pain? My right shoulder blade area screams at me constantly.

Lora-nice workout. I did that one the other day but I just couldn't get in to it.

Theresa, how do you keep track on which interval you're on? I wouldn't be able to keep the count in my head.

I'm sort of excited to be done with STS, but I've enjoyed it so much I wish I had a few more weeks to go.

Debbie-this is really goofy but I yell out the interval number aloud before I start each one :D

diane sue-thanks for the links, I will check those out.

Theresa

Hey, everyone! I am still in project mode. I feel the need to get things off my list.

Theresa
- Nice burn on the hill sprints! And I just recently heard great things about Pandora.

DianeSue
- Nice workout(s) as always!

Lora - Sorry you are fighting the migraine. Nice calorie burn on ITR, I never get that.

Debbie - How exciting that your mom is coming home!

I was completely exhausted and sore from yesterday's projects, which included scooping at least 200# of wet leaves out of the pool, then wrestling two covers over it and also transplanting 9 rather large bushes. So I wanted something easy and no imopact. So I choose Tracey's Walking Strong. It was fun and I could not believe how much I was sweating-it was worse than when I do plyo. Unfortunately, my HRM died in the middle of it and now won't come back. I am wondering if it's possible it got sweat in it. Now I don't know what I am gonna do. I really don't have money for a new one. Anyway, workout was 52 minutes and the treadmill says I burned about 440 calories.

Lora, I didn't know Ravi and Ana put out a newsletter--I'd like to read it. Is it linked in their website? I'll check that out sometime. I have some of their workouts, but I don't do them super often. I'd like to work them in more, but there's always so much to do!

I haven't been on for a few days, so it seems like there's some stuff going on I'm not aware of. Debbie, did you remodel your mom's kitchen? And I hope all is well with Charlotte...if anything's happened I missed it, but I hope all is well.

So far this isn't shaping up to be the best workout week for me. I'll have to work out tomorrow in order to get my 5 in this week, and I really prefer to not work out on Fridays. It's a long work day, and I commute, and I cook dinner, and after that, I just want to veg with the bf and play video games or something.

Anyway, Monday and Wednesday both no workout. =(
Tuesday (can't remember if I posted or not) was Muscle Max uppper body push/pull premix and Amy's first ab section from Abs and Stretch.
Today, Thursday, was yoga class.

Dinner was yummy and I have lots of calories that I doubt I will get burned off in the morning. I had tilapia in a some creamy sauce with artichokes served over pasta with broccoli. Bread with the herbed oil dip, and shared a piece of coconut cream pie with dh. Then we went to friends for coffee and I had a huge mug of strong coffee. This is not a good way for me to get to sleep. I have to take grandchildren to school in the morning too.

Theresa, I forgot to mention that I got my foam roller off of e-bay. You can get them at perform better or amazon. Don't go for a short one like the gofit that they sell at Target. Usually they have you use a 6 " diameter roll that is 36 inches long.

Linda, it would take me months to check off that list:) It eats at me too but I just can't seem to get it done. Good for you for getting some stuff done. Walking Strong is a surprising workout. I did not expect the intensity I got from it.
