Hardcore Maniacs Check-In for Tuesday, 12-12

This morning I did a full body workout with supersets. Did 3 sets/8 reps:

SS #1
Close Grip Overhand Pullups: 6/4/4 (dang it, still can't get past 6!)
Incline Chest Flies: 35's

SS #2
Wide Grip Upright Rows: 55#
Hammer Curl w/Twist: 25's

SS #3
Plie Squats: 85# (going lighter with weight because legs are getting thick. Me no like!)
Hamstring Curls: 50#

Calf Raises w/65# BB on shoulders: 3 sets, 12 reps with toes straight, toes out, toes in. Burned!

Workout was 47 minutes, was in my zone for 14 minutes and burned 175 calories.

Where is everyone????

Yeah, where's Lora? She must be sleeping in this morning. Hey, I wouldn't work out at an ungodly hour if I didn't have to either.

Today's workout was PlyoX, which I nailed good! I knew the moves better so could give more effort. This workout makes me feel very athletic. Wish I had a HRM on as I was pushing pretty hard. I ordered a digital one last night as Heart Rate Monitor USA suggested the digital ones if you are having problems with TV interference. I'll try it and see. It was $48.00.

Hi Maeghan, good for you for the DOMS. Was it Butts & Guts you did yesterday? That one is a really good leg workout for me. I still have a little DOMS in my back from my pull ups (no not real pullups, they are lat pulldowns). I love feeling DOMS in my back. The Bowflex is great for those lats.

Morning Maniacs -

Yes, I slept 'till 3:30 am today - but tomorrow, it's back to my regular schedule. I don't want to get used to sleeping late....as I need to stay on a schedule. I just figured I'd take an extended weekend.

This morning I did Cardio Coach 3 on the Treadmill/Elliptical. I did the w/u, c/d and steady state on the treadmill and jumped on the ellipitical for the hills and sprints. This one had lots of sprints. Sprints are not that hard for me.....I have difficulty with those 3 minute intervals! I need to work on that. I burned 388 calories.

I finished off with Namaste Yoga - Head to Knee. Lots of hamstring stretches.

Charlotte- I don't think the lead singer of Lighthouse looks like Josh. Did they get a new lead singer maybe?

I need tips on how not to be overwhelmed. I've got so much that needs done around here. I really don't feel like doing anything today, cuz I have to make up perfume samples, but I need to start going thru my clothes and rest of the junk in the house and trying to clean out. My problem is that I either go thru it and don't throw anything out (I'm a pack rat), or I feel so overwhelmed that I just throw my hands up and avoid it. Any tips?

I thnk i am lightening down a little. I am so tired of being this sore. My chest under my arms is still killing me

Meag give it a couple hours... You are going to feel it. I can't use 5# ankle weights either. I have to stop and break if i do.That w/o kills me. I can heavy up on GS Legs, but b& G even with light weight does me in.

Lora, do B&G for lower. The lunges and one legged squats otta work thet tear drop. I just need to loose more fat.I can see the muscle there though, so it is slowly decipating. No one believes what i weigh. I tell them get me a scale..The pants are still getting bigger.I have a big pile in the closet going to good will...

OK, i don't get it. When i eat more protien i gain weight. If i eat more carbs i drop it. Maybe my body needs the carbs ... I get really hungry when i limit the carbs to veggies and fruits.Maybe my brain says pasta.... Whole wheat angel hair. MMMM...

Char, Jan 17th. About a month. Then i will be the weanie w/o for a while. 2 weeks off. I can walk on the treadmill when i am up to it. then lower no weights for 6-8 and low impact cardio...That is wht i have been trying to lift so heavy to build in case i loose some...

Deb, i am sure you burned more calories than that. 175 seems way too low...

Lora I admit I used to be the same way, it took getting married and having to move all that stuff I kept for years. I used the "if you haven't used it in a year, it's gone" Needless to say I made a bundle on e-bay and goodwill had a field day with 2 truckloads of stuff. DH still thinks it's too much stuff! Shoes...well, tough, they are staying!

I found chest and back a lot easier yesterday, I also used the lat tower and learned something new from DH. I thought I was lifting 35-45 based on the plates, but he said no honey...you have to use this chart because it's pulleys...so I guess it's more like 72#. I'm not convinced, but it sure sounds better eh?

Anne...when is your surgery??? Hope your ready for a new wardrobe! I had to toss every shirt and sweater I own.

Anne- No I'm not kidding. 2:30 am is normal time for me....but actually it used to be 2:00 am, but I haven't been able to push it up to 2:00 yet. I was trying for a while and then gave up. I can't sleep much over an hour extra cuz of my sleep problems...however, whenever I'm not working, my sleep problems seem to be a bit better as long as I don't get over 5-6 hours of sleep a night. I've been doing Butts & Guts. I don't know if I even have a muscle above my knee cap! If I do, it's covered with fat and I HATE my knee caps....they're ugly. I won't even wear shorts all summer.

I'm having a BAD flare up of my pain. I'm due to start in a few days, so it has to be hormonal. I know I didn't do it lifting cuz I haven't trained upper body since last Wednesday.

All of this Gliding got me thinking.......and I broke out my Slide Reebok tape. I'm going to add some Slide Aerobics into my routine. Yes, I still have my slide!! (Pack Rat).
 
Thanks everyone! For some reason I was thinking my weights seem light today. Weird. I felt them, though.

Lora - I love sprinting as well. Hate those 2 and 3 minute jog/runs. They kill me everytime. Sprints I can do forever.

Well, maybe I am getting some results in my lower body. I'm wearing jeans that were in the back of my closet cuz they were too tight and they fit pretty good and are even just a bit baggy in the butt area and top of the thighs. I can't really remember exactly how they used to fit....but maybe? Also, when I weighed in this morning, the scale was down another pound....but when I got on it a second later, it wasn't??

I just got done searching jobs.........and still didn't do my perfume samples yet. I'm going to the doctor at 3:00 pm. I hope he gives me the slip to be off work........cuz if he doesn't....I may have to go back there.

I'm going to go do Winsor Pilates Maximum Burn - Fat Burning. It is aerobics and pilates. Never did it before....so we'll see if it's any good. I plan on using ankle weights and dumbbells for the mat segment and possibly my pilates ring (if I can figure out how to use it for the moves they do).

I'm depressed and don't feel like doing anything around here except work out and surf the net!!! I want to shop cuz I'm PMSing......but I really shouldn't spend ALL of the money I have saved.
 
Morning everybody!

Another stressful day at work. :( I can't wait until Friday afternoon and the start of my vacation. I need a break. Good things to come. My boss just had surgery yesterday but is coming in today just to offer me some support. This means a lot coming from him - if you knew him. You have no idea.

I LOVE Plyo X. I think it's my most favorite workout of all time. I really needed it today. I smile more during this workout than any other ever. HR really gets up there.

This morning I ran 6 1/2 miles on my treadmill, then did Amy Bento's Upper body nrg along with the core work, I added 2 sets of hanging knee raises 15 rep w/ 10#, then barbell rollouts 45# 8 reps 2 sets, 1 set wood chops on the ball 25# 30 reps. This was a long workout today. Amys upper body nrg does not show the core on the about nrg mixes. Amy said you can do it or skip it. Without the core it is 1 hr and 2 minutes. With it you add another 14 minutes. This time instead of the gliding discs I used the barbell rollouts and when she did the pikes and hand walking I did it on the stability ball I could really feel this. I tried plastic plates last time. I used the end of my vkr tower for the pullups. Things have been extra busy here. People came to look at the house yesterday and I had my sick grandson here. Fortunately he was feeling better. I took him to Quiznos for lunch while they were looking. I like their salads:)
Today is dh Christmas dinner for work, errands and picking up the grandchildren.

Amber, you really don't look tall in those pictures. And you don't look like you have cellulite.

Suz, I like Gizmos new Christmas picture, it is cute. I need to go check out the others.

Lora, I bet you are getting some gradual changes. It really does take a lot of perseverence. You will get there.

I just got back from the post office and eating lunch.

I ended up doing the Maximum Burn - Fat Burning Winsor workout. I did not use ankle weights for it or dumbbells cuz my abs are really sore from that BArry's Bootcamp ab segment yesterday. Does it every time!! It was a so/so workout. I burned 227 calories in 50 minutes and my HR was in the high 120's to 130's. I really don't like Mari for some reason.

There's a call on my recorder for the Real Estate Administrative Asst. that I applied for......but I haven't called to make the appt yet. I'm nervous and I called my Mom to tell her and she said - "you probably have to work evenings and Saturdays". Nothing like a positive attitude Mom.

Sorry for interrupting, but I'm curious. I don't have gliding discs either. What do you mean by 'barbell rollouts'? Is this an ab exercise? Could you please describe it for me?

Lora - don't you worry. There are benefits to working nights and weekends. Like having time off when everybody else is working! Just ask Randi. That's great that they called you. I think that would be a fun environment.

Wow - thanks for the link! That is great. Of course, I'll have to start at a much, much lower weight than you, but I've been really trying to target my abs lately and I KNEW you'd be the go-to-girl for that!
