Hardcore Fitrness Maniacs for Saturday Feb 17

Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

Just got up. Gonna go do some lite cardio. Feels like an easier Turbo Jam day and of course, some yoga and maybe an extra stretch since my hamstring's are extra tight from running this week.

Meg - Wow - good job on that 90 minute W/O last night. I knew you'd love Yoga for Athletes. Something about that one........for some reason, I felt very strong the first time I did it and held my planks long and such. Maybe it's all the "athletic type" peeps in the workout??? Maybe it's no sanskrit, no granola!!! LOL.

Diane Sue - Glad you're having fun with your Rocks/Aromaleigh. Rocks are fun to wear. I have a small collection of them and I always feel a little "out there" when I wear them to work. They are really fun to wear out at night, but then I hardly ever do that except for the occasional rock show......which they are perfect for! :D You sound like your getting into "creative mode" with them. Have you seen what some of the ladies on their Forum can do? Talented, I tell ya! That M&F rotations sounds like it might work with DVDs. I'll have to consider it and look over my selections. I could probably use P90X or one of the P90's for the lower rep stuff. I have lots of higher rep stuff. Speaking of weights - have you ever (or do you know anyone) that's ever done a Cory Everson or Joyce Vedral weight lifting tape? I've been eyeing a couple DVDs at Fitness Organica and have some money in my Paypal......hmmm. Better go workout. Be back later.

Toasty - okay, you twisted my arm (just kidding).....re: Oils - Bastet's Laughter sounds interesting. I might have to check that one out. Could use it!! Although I wouldn't annoint with it. They don't sell imps, right? What other TAL's do you think I'd like....since I have a bit of cash in my Paypal? Remember though, my tastes are somewhat different than yours. I don't like the real sharp, herbaly voodoo's or TAL's......that's what turns me off about them. Yes, Dark Delacacies is one of my fave's as well. Speaking of which, I never received my additional bottle I ordered. I'll have to email them.

Deb & Meg - Did you watch GH yet? Wow, it's gonna be interesting next week. Looks like Sonny and Carly are hurt?? Also, just got the newsletter in my email box......says Liz tells Jason 'bout the baby next week.......great!! (Not)

Hi to everyone that follows and have a wonderful Saturday!!

I'm finished. I did a recovery day workout. I did Turbo Jam Total Body Blast with the ball and skipped a few segments to make it shorter. Totaled 54" and burned 300 calories. This really is a lower intensity TJ workout. My HR only elevated to about 75% of my max. After reading that article yesterday, not really sure if I just wasted my time. I also did Yoga for Beauty with Rainbeau Mars...Dawn. Felt good.

Diane Sue - I'll probably try to do a rotation here soon based loosely on that rotation you mentioned. It will give me a reason to buy those Joyce Vedral weight DVDs I've been eyeing over at Fitness Organica *smile*. She has some superset ones and pyramid ones etc. I've heard from some peeps that her weight routines are very effective, so I'm curious.

Well.....off to do my normal Saturday thing. I'll be around later. Have great workouts or rest days everyone.

This morning was week 2 of Phase 1 in my M&F Training. This was suppose to be more isolation moves versus compound moves and most of the exercises laid out in the magazine were done with machines. Don't have a machine so I compromised. Worked Chest, Tris & abs, 3 sets/8-10 reps, 2 minutes rest.

Chest:
Pushups: 1 set/20 reps (warmup)
Then I worked on one-arm pushups. Did 3 sets/5 reps on each side but did them assisted with my other arm. I put most of my weight on the side I was working and used my other arm to help me go all the way down. Hopefully this will help me get these.
Pushups: 1 set/20 reps

Incline DB Flies: 35's 1 set/10 reps; 2 sets/9 reps
Flat DB Flies: 30's 1 set/10 reps; 32's 2 sets/10 reps
Decline DB Flies: 32's 3 sets/10 reps

Tri's:
Kickbacks: 15# 1 set/8 reps; 2 sets/10 reps each arm
DB Overhead Extensions: 35# 3 sets/10 reps

Abs:
Cathe's Slow & Heavy Chest Bi's & Tri's Ab work.

Workout was clocked in at an hour.

Lora - I watched Thursday's and I'm only 15 minutes into Friday's show. I'll watch the rest later. Its so good.

Diane Sue - Which Oxygen Magazine routine are you doing? Whats the month on the magazine? Or was it M&F Hers?

Where is everyone?

Hope you all have great workouts!

Good morning ladies,

Over on the X-ers' checkin, we've been discussing Post P90X ab workouts that will be as effective (or more) than Ab Ripper X. You guys are all in the know so hoping to get some great suggestions.

Lora and Diane Sue or anyone else, know you two have reviewed and done lots of different ab workouts. Any suggestions please?

Thanks so much,

Jeanette

Deb - Great Workout! Don't you miss using DVDs? I wish I could be structured enough to work out without a DVD....but as you know, I'm like ADD girl without following something. Glad I didn't give away too much about GH then. It is very good. I like the story line very much. Everyone must be resting today and Toasty's DH is probably hogging the computer since it's the weekend!

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

I feel down this morning. Had a hard time sleeping last night..neck is just killing me and could hardly get out of bed because it hurts so much to move it so took some advil. Hubby says not to workout. I am so behind now and feel fat, but I don't want to make things worse and set myself back so I have to figure it out.

Talked to dh as he came home last night. FIL kept him up in the hotel there in Arizona. I wanted to laugh, but didn't. I am alittle disappointed in my hubby right now. He basically told me that his dad comes first cuz he is blood. I told him I am his wife, I am come first! So I am just hurt. Hubby and I don't get into arguments much and I hate confrontations so I just had nightmares last night of someone invading my home and trying to kill me and my family. I am trying to put this all behind me now since it looks like FIL will not come back to stay in summer after all was said and done, but now left hurt, but I don't want to accept what dh said to me. Disturbs me. I don't get it.

Lora,

You will like Bastet's Laughter if you like Jailbait. Smells similiar like a bubblegum smell. Makes you feel all happy. Yes, I love Dark Del..it is the da bomb!!!!! I don't really want too many more of the Tal's cuz the rest just don't appeal to me. Did you get a black Black Phoenix bag with your Dark Del? I did. Cool.

Charlotte~~

Debbie,

No you didn't???????????? You went all the way down for one arm pushups???? WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh, you are my superhero!!!!! They are so dang hard. I keep trying though. Gosh, you are extremely strong to be able to do that. Next time, I will stand on your back!!! He he. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlotte~~

Here it is 10 oclock and I am just getting around:) I stayed up till 2 am with dh watching television. I plan on doing cardio and some yoga and/stretching. I may do some more abs. I did some yesterday but missed my 3rd day this week. I am not sore at all. That is a hard area to work and really feel for me.

Lora, I used to have a couple of Cory Everson's workouts on vhs. I sold them on e bay. I will say I liked the circuit one I think it was called Total Body or something like that. The other was just an old tape that was done like the BodyShaping show she used to do. I have never done Joyce Vedral. I did have one of her books and did some of the exercises that were effective. One of the women that used to check in here was doing a rotation with Joyce workouts and got good results. Funny the Rocks don't seem to bright on me. Most colors just seem to disappear on me even though I am very pale. I have looked at the women's pictures and read the forums at Aromaleigh. I have fun playing and mixing colors. I guess it is like having my paint box except instead of working on my paintings it is my face:7

Debbie, I don't think I will ever get to the weights you do:) GOod job. I am doing the rotation from M&F Hers Jan/Feb issue Page 56 the Advanced Program fine tune you.

Netta,as far as ab workouts dvd's my favorites that I really feel right now are Tracy Staehle's Core Conditioning. This is a long workout but really packs a good burn. The other is Amy Bento All Pump Extreme ab segment 14 minutes and pretty tough. She does use gliding discs in this one. I finally purchased them but at first I did the side walking planks/pikes with my feet on the ball instead of gliding discs and kneeling barbell rollouts instead of pushing and pulling the discs. I like the standing core work on this with the dumbbell a lot and the crab/to planks. You can up the intensity on any of Cathe's with more resistance. I do like variety though.

OK now that I typed a book I think I will go workout:D

Netta - I'd have to say Tracey Staehle's core workout is good, as it's different and it's about the only thing that I can get my abs sore from lately ....other than Barry's Bootcamp (but that's an entire set). I will tell you one move to try from Barry's though. Do a jacknive off of your step (long ways) feet off the end and hold a 10 pound dumbell....they do them in Barry's and they make you real sore. He does do some static holds in the sets too. Tracey does a lot of static hold, isometric moves and they are unique....so work your abs different. The DVD is well chaptered so you can actually do it in segments, rather than the entire 45 minute workout. I have never done the entire thing. Diane Sue has. I'm sure she'll pipe in. I know she does a lot of hanging leg raises and rollouts and such with weights....so I'm sure she'll have some good advice for you. It's funny that you get so used to Ab Ripper towards the end....that it's almost easy!

Toasty - sorry you are so down. I just got a rather large BPAL order.....bottles coming out of the woodwork around here....yikes. Haven't really sniffed anything yet, but it's the Neil Gaiman, GroundHog Musk, Crow Moon order. I'm wearing Infatuation today and I think it is my least fave out of all of them, but I'll give it a while. RE: the DH thing. Here's something my DH always says about a marriage ........it is in the Bible that when a man leaves his family to become "one" with his wife in the religious union of marriage.....he leaves his mother and father and his wife comes first! Not worded quite right, but the general message is there. I don't know what chapter it's from, etc.....but your a Christian....so I'm sure you'll be familiar with it. You can always use that for "amunnituion". Hang in there with things........I'll be thinking of you. PM me if you'd like......put lots of Dark Delacacies on and be gentle to yourself today! Do something you enjoy.

Morning Maniacs! I'm very sore this morning from my blissful Run/walk workout yesterday.x( My knee hurts, hips are sore. It's like I'm deteriorating right before my very eyes! I've gone so long injury free and getting in really good workouts and now I can't do the simplest things without getting hurt. I'm at my wits end here. So, I'll take the day off, since my knee hurts and my elbow hurts and my hips are sore etc.. With my luck, I'm sure if I did abs today I'd pull something.:( Maybe it's a sign of overtraining, I just don't know. Maybe I'll put in a pool and just float around on a raft for exersice. LOL!

Debbie- Great job on you workout! Those one arm pushups are not for the weak!

Char-Weird your Dh said that. Maybe it was just one of those moments where you say something, but don't really mean it. Just to hurt you for a sec. and help him not feel quilty about Dad. You can join me on in the pool workouts with your sore neck. We can float and try to burn 10 calories a workout.

Hi to everyone else...gotta go. Dh and I have lots to do today.

Diana Sue and Lori,
Thanks SSOOOOOOOO much for the recommendations for ab workouts. I'm going to cut and paste them right now into that thread. Know they will appreciate your advice. You guys are great.

P.S. Been enjoying P90X, have gotten some good results. Only 2 more weeks left.

Jeanette

Bionics,

Do you think I am getting old?? Sounds like your not!lol. Sorry to hear, but when I have run too I have similiar issues. In the night my knee hurt too when I bent it..thinking from previous plyo's cuz I get all maniacal with I do them. lol. Pool sounds good, if indoors. I still see ice out my window here. Brrrrr. We can be the handicap hardcores for the day!!!! He he.

Ya know, your probably right about dh's remark. I know how much he loves me and I love him dearly. He still lights up my life when he walks thru the front door..now bringing tears to my eyes, thinking about it. Maybe he doesn't mean it the way it actually came out. Later he told me that I am first in his life so I am thinking he just doesn't know how to say it right. His dad wasn't much a part of his life as a child and he missed that. WOW, thanks for making me feel better...appreciate that.

Hello Hardcore Maniacs!
Yesterday I did Cardio and Weights from BM2 what a fun workout. Today I will be doing legs maybe legs and glutes havn't done that in awhile went out last night that's why i'm getting a slow start today:)
BBL
Randi

I finished my workout. I didn't do quite as much as I wanted to but did not want to spend my whole day working out when dh is home. I did Cardio Coach 3 and ran 4.25 miles. I ran through the stretches anc cooldown:) I then did 1 set of hanging leg raises with shoe weights on 20 reps, Amy Bento's APX core and stretch, then yoga shatki dancing warrior 1,2 &3 then I put in X stretch and did the upper body stretches at the start I think about 12 minutes, I skipped the w/up. DH bought me home a Macdonalds Asian chicken salad. This Macdonalds makes me mad because they always leave off the almonds and send me coutons x( We have complained but they still do it. Once when we asked for the almonds they gave me peanuts from their sundaes.

Diane Sue- are those McDonald's salad's good? I have never had one. What kind of dressing do they have? That's odd about the colours on you....I'm pale also, but if I wear a lipstick that is even remotely bright....it looks like here come's Lora's lips. If I do the bright eye shadows, I usually wear little or no lipstick, etc. I have some pretty wild colours though. It is fun painting your face!

Netta- I hope you ladies can get sore abs!! I haven't done Ab Ripper for a long time.....I should give it a whirl.

We just got back from that movie Music & Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew BArrymore. It was a cute romatic comedy. We enjoyed it......me probably moreso........finally got a Valentine movie in there. I can't believe Hugh Grant had to act so hideous in that movie. I would die. He's a "washed up" 80's pop star...funny!

Lora, I really like the MacDonalds salads. If I bring them home I usually use my own dressing. The asian chicken salad has a spicy dressing that is low in fat. I usually use half of it though as the sodium is high. I make sure and ask for grilled chicken and check before I leave in case they mess up and put fried chicken on it. I think the reason the colors fade on me is because I have super oily skin and it kind of melts away quickly. My face is shiny after I wash it. That movie looks like it would be good. We don't go out to them much anymore. Mostly wait till we can see them at home on ppv usually.

Charlotte- nice to see your DH really recognizes that he upset you and is trying to make up for it. Have a wonderful dinner!

DS- my abs are pretty sore from Traceys core WO. I didn't really feel it till I started shoveling snow ouch!

Lora- I can't wait to do some of my Jennifer Kries tonight! I got Amy's Hi/lo today too!

Dallys- I really thought you looked great with your doggy in your pics.

Deb- missed GH again lastnight, so I have to watch it on Soapnet tomorrow.

Randi- I wish we lived closer because I would love to go out on the town with you! We would have a blast!

Hi Netta! Miss you over here! Good job on your progress!

Suz and ANne- where are you?????

I hope to do my new AMy tonight. THere is a bonus premix with her extreme pump, so I would like to do that too for a little weights. No need to do abs today! LOL!!

Diane Sue -I'll have to try that salad. I never get the chicken though. I like Arby's Sante Fe Salad with light dressing. It has corn, peppers and onions, etc. Really yummy....but I have to pay for the chicken even though I don't get it.

Charlotte- Good for you! I bet you feel really good now! What oil did you have on?? LOL!

Meg- Tracey sure gets you good with all of those isometric holds, huh? I'll be interested to hear what you think of the J Kries....are you gonna do the Self Massage/Beat On Myself one??? he...he....
