Morning Maniacs - if anyone's around today

This morning I did Leslie's Slim Walk 3 Miles (mostly on the Rebounder) plus part of Hip Hob Abs Cardio Cabaret. Workout was 69" and I burned 690 calories. Max HR was 161.

We start our extended hours today at work. I looked at my workout journal from last year at this time and I can't believe I didn't miss any workouts. Now I'm wondering if I should just skimp on my hours of sleep per night and workout on days I work late and start early. I don't know what's more beneficial....more sleep or less sleep and a workout?

Have great workouts or rest days everyone.

Theresa - I googled the broomstick stretches. I will be doing them. Thank you!

Lora - TAKE A REST DAY!!! Girl, I wish you lived closer so I could smack you! Forget getting up early, give your body a break once in a while. I promise you it will thank you. {{{hugs}}}

Linda - Sorry you aren't feeling good. I hope you'll be up to yoga Monday. I think I'll be ready. Looking forward to it. Need to start moving again.

Diane Sue - Nice workout yesterday!

Lora-MORE SLEEP !!!!!! There are a billion studies on the necessity for proper sleep. You're only cheating yourself. I dont' know how many breaks you get at work, but maybe to maintain your fitness level, you could bring weights to work and on breaks take a walk and do compound exercise moves while walking?

Debbie-hope you like them. I have noticed a BIG difference already. I did shoulder presses yesterday and it bothered me for the first 2 sets but then nothing. I did not have a broomstick or towel long enough so I used one of the exercise bands. It seems to work great :D

No workout today. My two of the grandchildren stayed the night last night. Ate way to much chinese food. I could tell that I had lots of sodium by the way I felt and looked this morning. So now I need lots of water:D Had a nice time though.

Lora, if I consistently get way to little sleep, I find the best option over working out is rest. I think I am much worse off myself if I keep pushing because I tend to get more stressed and eat more, I drag around and don't function well, and my workouts are just not as good and I don't enjoy them, am forcing myself to do them. You really should allow a little more rest. I know it is hard. I get there myself. I never could figure out how you could function on so little sleep.

Theresa, I have done that broomstick stretch holding my yoga strap taut and it has helped a lot. I do a lot of shoulder stretches and I know it h as been very beneficial.

Debbie, thanks:D I think that you will find those broomstick stretches very helpful.

Hi Ladies,
hope everyone is doing well! I haven't been on for a while; I've been pretty busy and haven't been working out quite as much as I'd like. The last, I believe, 3 weeks I've only gotten in 4 instead of 5. Today's workout was High Step Challenge. =)

RE: the sleep and working out thing....on nights I work late and start early during the normal season, I only get 5 hours of sleep and I'm actually fine. It's the only way I can actually fall asleep at night on my own without sleeping pills. If I get 6 hours of sleep more than 1 night in a row, I can't sleep. I've got issues!!

I just wanted to comment that I googled the broomstick stretch and I did that once in a yoga DVD with a strap and it flared my injury worse than ANYTHING. I absolutely cannot pull that strap down behind me. I can't do lat pull downs behind my shoulders either. Be careful with those ladies.

Regarding the broomstick stretch, Olesya said it should be a pulling sensation not painful and should leave you with a good pump especially if you really push your chest forward. She said to stop if there is a pain and not a deep stretch feeling. She also said if the shoulder is terribly impinged, to bend your arms and work up to straightening them out. Also, the movement should be slow and deliberate and only go as far as is comfortable.

Hi Hermia :D

Lora-It is neck trouble you have, correct? Do you have issues with your shoulders as well?
