Hardcore Fitness Maniacs September 2026

Hi everyone! Wow, what a whirlwind it has been for me since my dad passed away. Mom has been in and out of the hospital, but now is finally doing better since I got her a new Cardiologist. New meds equals a new mom. I now have a care giver lined up for 4 days per week a few hours per day to give me a rest. Caregiving is not for the weary! This is the hardest thing that I have ever done, and I am not in it for the long haul. I literally cannot do much and I refuse to live the rest of my life stuck at home with my mom. After the new year I need to go look at some assisted living places and see if that is a fit for her. I have been walking my butt off, and I mean my butt is gone!!!! Walking 6 to 8 miles per day with 2 pound ankle weights on along with a weighted vest and my god, I am so lean! However, I have little muscle left that took my 20 years to build but I am wanting to start back to lifting again if I do not have another roadblock from my mom's health. I need to go back and read your previous posts to see what you are all doing for workouts.

Debbie, I see you are doing RAW workouts again. I need to look back into those because they are short and I have to find something shorted to do after or before my dog walks each day. I am so sick of Cathe workouts I am not sure I want to do those right now. (No offense Cathe!) Can I only find the RAW workouts on Youtube? I loved her website, I wonder why she went to youtube? How is your soap business going? I love my soaps by the way. :)

Belinda, I hope you are doing well. I saw something about Pickleball in one of your previous posts. That sounds like a blast!

Diane Sue, how are you doing and how do you like your new house?

I have an early chiropractor appointment tomorrow morning so no weight workout but I will get in an early dog walk. My eldest son is moving home next week and is training for Special Forces National Guard, I am going to start working out with him soon. He got a new finance job at a military contractor in San Diego, so he is going to live at home and commute the two days of per week to the office. I am so happy to have him back home! I think it should break up my time with my mom which I desperately need. My youngest son is killing it in the Marines and is currently in Infantry training before going into Recon training. He loves it and I was on base with him last weekend and it was so great to see him. He is about 15 minutes from our house now and that makes me happy.

I hope to be on the thread more now that my life is settling down more. Have a great day everyone!

No workouts yet. I will soon. I am just tired and still lots to put away and arrange. I almost have my workout room set up. I need to get my spin bike in out of the garage. My son wall mounted my tv and my dvd player is set up again. Shelves are in and workouts put in them. I just need to arrange other equipment. I am tired of digging through boxes and looking for the place to put stuff. We rented a dumpster and have tossed quite a lot of stuff. Today I had my yearly check up with my doctor. I am glad she is close to where we live now. Maybe I can get some mobility work done in the morning. Our painter is coming back to paint the front door. We do not like the red paint on it. I am trying to figure out how to arrange my art stuff for painting and where to store my crafting stuff. My dog has been sick now for 3 days. I thought he was much better and gave him a little food and woke up with him whining and he had vomited on the floor and had to go outside with the other end. Hopefully we can get that under control with some medicine in a little rice with boiled chicken.

Jolie, it sounds like you have done a lot of walking. One of the ladies from my game day group asked to be in an assisted living home. She loves it as there is activities and things to do. She was sad when she was living all alone. She is in her 90's now. I wish I could lift really heavy again, but I let go of some of my heaviest weights. I am afraid I will throw my knees off or fracture fingers or something. I am hoping the hyaluronic injection in my knee helps for a while because I am not wanting a knee replacement.

Debbie, nice work on Raw Box Band and Abs.

Belinda, good job on LMR Lower Body and the nice stretch. I need some stretching.

No workout for me today, I didn't sleep well at all last night so stayed in bed for an extra hour. Didn't really help.

Jolie - Good to hear from you. You are right, caregiving his hard. Just know that this is not the rest of your life, just a blip in the life radar screen. But I certainly get what you are saying. It's hard. Assisted living might be a great option for your mom, I wish I could get my mom into something like that. She says she's not lonely, but I'm not so sure. It's so expensive, though, and the only thing Medicare seems to pay for are the shit holes. She'd rather live on her own, which is what she is doing, but it scares me. Wow, nice job on walking with ankle weights and a weighted vest. Does your dog walk all those miles with you? You have inspired me to wear a weighted vest on my treadmill the next time I use it. I've been doing so many RAW workouts that I haven't gotten on my treadmill. I need to start doing that again. I won't wear ankle weights, though, because that is not very good for the knees. Just be careful with that. I actually should start doing some Cathe workouts, I purchased the On Demand/DVD thing some time ago and I bet I've only used it a handful of times. What a waste of money that was. :( I just can't get into Cathe's way of working out anymore. I know there are some I can do and that I love, but still, I just don't have it in me. Nice to hear your sons are closer to you now.

Diane - I bet it's exciting to have a new workout room. I hope it's a good size for you and all of your things. I bet you can't wait to start up again with your workouts. I sure hope your dog gets better, I wonder if he ate something bad?

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi,

I had a dermatologist about yesterday afternoon and in hospital sleep study for a 2nd opinion on the sleep apnea.

The dermatologist diagnosed me with Behcet’s Disease. I been getting mouth sores they last forever. Last year when I saw the dermatologist I was told those are regular fever blisters. I started taking pictures of those mouth sores, showed them to my rheumatologist a few weeks ago. I always forgot to show him the pictures. He referred me to dermatologist. I didn’t had any mouth sores, luckily I had lots of picture’s. A lot of people with RP also have Behçet’s disease. I had a suspicion I had Behçet's disease for awhile after doing some research on my RP group.

I had a in person hospital stay sleep study to rule out sleep apnea. I didn’t sleep at all last night, I turned and tossed around looking Apple Watch. You hooked up to wires from head to toe, I was afraid to use the bathroom with all those cables hanging off me. I already unplugged one on my legs last night. I had zero idea, the tech came and put the wire back in it’s place, lol. You have a tiny microphone around you so you can ask for help around the clock. The bed was very uncomfortable and so was the pillow. At one point I thought I fell off the bed on the floor, it felt like the hard floor. Than I realized I am in that hard mattress bed :( I got released at 5 am. Haven’t slept yet.

I did LMR Pilates and Pilates 10 min standing abs.

Jolie - great job on your walks. That’s a lot of walking.

Diane - how exciting you have soon a workout room again and done with putting things in its place. I hope your dog feels better soon. Poor thing.

Debbie - sorry the extra hours didn’t help with your sleep. I couldn’t sleep to save my life last night.

I will be back tomorrow.

Today I did a mix of workouts. I started with a cardio weight workout with Lauren and the power went out shortly after the warm up. It came back on and I did LMR Elevate Upper Standing Only premix and finished with Lauren morning stretch. Total time was 49 minutes, 188 calories, HR 103/141. I need to blow up my balls and balance discs and move my spin bike in out of the garage. We have a plumber coming in the morning and an appointment in the afternoon so no workout tomorrow. It was nice getting in something. My knees feel like they have knots in the back of them. I am going to get to bed earlier tonight. The plumber may show up at 8 in the morning.

Belinda, I hate mouth sores. The sleep study sounds miserable. How do you sleep on a hard bed in a strange place with wires anyway? Nice work on the LMR Pilates and pilates 10-minute standing abs.

Debbie, sorry that you did not get much sleep last night. I know there are a lot of not so nice assisted living places. Prices can be way out there and I often wonder how anyone can afford it. I know there are safety risks with anyone that is alone, but I think I was in that place (I often think about this) I would rather be on my own. But, there is a worry about getting out on my own. Maybe it would be too quiet if there was no family around or friends though...
