Morning Fit Ladies -

Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I opted for an active recovery day. I did Seasun's (or should I say tried to do) Rock Steady Step for about 50 minutes and then I did the ab segment with med ball and ankle weights and the stretch. I also did Rainbeau Mars Yoga for Beauty Dusk yoga DVD (45 min). I wanted to do a stretch tape also but I ran out of time since I slept in 'till 4:15 am this morning. Never heard my alarm even go off. I think I may have a touch of a stomach bug and that may be why I've been having problems working out...that and lack of sleep. My stomach's been hurting pretty badly the last couple days. Feels like I swallowed glass.

Well, I'm gonna email Seasun in a bit.....cuz I think this DVD may be over my head. I did pretty well on the warmup and even the first segment, but then it was way over my head. She sure does do a lot of turning. This is about on the same level as that Pam Cosmi one I've been trying to learn forever. If I ever did learn this, I'd need to work on one segment at a time and I'd have to do it over and over and really practice. Oh......why did Seasun have to send me this....cuz I get so determined that I'll drive myself crazy trying to learn this one. My HR stayed moderately elevated though cuz I'm pretty good at doing my own alternate moves when I get lost. I noticed Seasun tends to step real bouncy like I do.......I think it makes your heartrate go higher.

I also have that X-treme STep DVD coming that I posted about last week. The girls on VF say the clip looks about as difficult as Seasun's step.....why do I insist on torturing myself with these complex step tapes?

We're going to see Miami Vice today. I'm not sure about tomorrow. I'm off to soak in my Marathon bath for sore muscles.

Have great workouts or rest days and I'll be back later.

ETA: I meant to invite anyone that currently reads this thread to please join in on our check in ........even if you don't think you're a hardcore maniac. I haven't been so much of a hardcore maniac lately....but I'm still here. Our thread has been shrinking, so please feel free to join us. ALL OUR WELCOME!!!

Damn, Lora! That is some active rest day. Great workout!

My back is almost 100%. Much better today. I'm shooting for a Monday workout. Yay!

Good Morning,
Today I plan to do cardio some on the treadmill. Then a good ab workout I did abs yesterday but just the ones on 3T and one of the timesavers. I want to hit the resistance today. Then some good stretching.

Lora, I know what you mean about the turns on Rock teady step. There are quite a few on SUS as well. I think eventually I will get that one though. Although at this point I am trying to avoid difficult choreography till I learn what I have. Does Amy Bento's Pump & Step have difficult moves? I have been looking at that one. Her new ones look like they will be interesting. I tend to add more propulsions and hops to workouts as well. I found it hard to do that while trying to learn RSS

Debbie, glad you are feeling so much better

Hi everyone, I have been reading your thread everyday. Lots of interesting comments on different aspects of exercise. I am also doing a 50 mile time trial, the first one ever and I was reading about all the biking you all do and what other exercises you incorporate into training besides riding. I am doing it on a tandem with my husband. I also follow Debbies rotations quite a bit. Today I did the GS mish mosh posted on one of the forums. It was fun. Have fun workouts.

Hello Ladies!

This morning I rode with my girlfriend - 31 miles. Luckily we went at 7am b/c it's HOT now. It was getting hot on our way back. Our ride was 2 hours and my avg. heart rate was 172 and the high was 189 - and this included a brief stop before we turned around, as my friend's knee was acting up today. Anyway, it was a good ride.

Lora - you are a silly girl! What a great rest day. :p

Debbie - I'm glad you're feeling better. Whew!!!

Diane Sue - I hope your workout is a good one. I'm sure it will be knowing you. I hope you can get this foot thing figured out soon - actually I hope it just goes away. How many times can I say "I hope" in one post??!!

I'm going to the rodeo today after all with our friends who we go to Mexico with. They had an available ticket. I'm going for the company, not the rodeo. I really do hate rodeos and always root for the animals. But I figured since they all live in Colorado about 45 minutes from us and we don't see them as often as we'd like, it wouldn't kill me to go b/c I would like to see them all. I just hope their seats are in the shade (fat chance, I'm sure) b/c it's just going to be way too hot. I better take some sunscreen! Cheyenne Frontier Days is over after tomorrow and our town can get back to normal. :)

I'm going to buy some soy milk today and see if I can get off of dairy and help my tummy. I had to take Imodium before I rode this morning. It was a long night. That should take care of me for the next couple of days!!! Sorry, TMI I'm sure. :p

Hello to everyone else!

Good morning,

No workout for me but just got back from a short bike ride instead. It's getting windy out there now, weather is supposed to be cooler so that's probably what this wind thing is about.

Our cycling vacation trip to Bend, Oregon is still on for Monday, but we're waiting to see how bad the smoke is around there as there is a forest fire nearby. We may have to change our plans somewhat but we'll still do something

I'm waiting for DH to get off work today (hopefully around 2 p.m.) We have the quads loaded up tent and camping stuff packed. I just need to go into town and get some gas for the pickup, some ice for the ice chest and then we can boogie. It's just an overnighter and only about 25 minute drive from here. We'll be back on Sunday afternoon.

Karen, a 50 mile time trial, WOW! I do a 12 mile one and it is intense, can't imagine 50!!! I've found the Cardio Coach workouts are really good, anything that gets your heart rate up there and then brings it down and then back up. To me, that's the way to get faster. Also, knowing where my breaking point is for my heart rate is good to know. For me right now, 163 is right at the edge of what I can hold onto. Any higher and I'll "blow up" and won't be able to sustain my pace. Of course, being on the tandem, you can probably let your DH pedal harder when you're tired. I think Cathe's leg workouts are good but before a cycling event like a century or time trial, I let me legs have a rest for a few days before so they are fresh. Everyone is different of course, so you'll have to figure what works for you. Maybe Suz can answer more. She uses the Spinerval workouts on a trainer and they've helped her immensely too. Also, do you have a single bike? Riding with others that are your pace or faster will help you to get faster (competitiveness in us, ask Suz :7).

Debbie, am soooo glad your back is better!!! Yippeee!!!! I could sense the disappointment and frustration when you had posted previously. You'll be good and ready by Monday.

Suz, hope the stomach starts feeling better. No fun at all. Try to enjoy the rodeo. I never feel sorry for the bucking horses and bulls, but the bulldogging is one I don't like to see.

Lora, I hope you are feeling better and can really rest today. I'm glad you got some yoga in. It's been a while since I've done it now that I've been following rotations. That stomach thing doesn't sound fun at all. Enjoy the Marathon bath.

Diane Sue, know you will have a great workout. Is the foot feeling any better at all?

What happened to Marietta and Charlotte?

Jeanette

Netta, I think Charlotte went camping.
Glad your back is better Deb!
Hello to Diane Sue, Lora, Suz, and Karen, great WO's!!

Well, I had a fire call last night and didn't get home till 3 am and had to get up at 7 for work. I have major DOMS in my tris and shoulders from my WO yesterday and from wrestling a fire hose last night!! LOL!! It feels good though.
I have to go to a BBQ now, so hopefully I can WO later. If not, then I will just rest today instead of tomorrow.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekends!!
Will check in later!

Good afternoon,
I started my workout late today. I did Cardio Party Remix stopping at the stretch, ran 3.25 miles on the treadmill, then did 2 sets ea. hanging knee raises with 10# med ball 15 reps, 35# barbell roll outs on toes 15 reps, Bowflex resisted crunches 100# 50 reps, Bowflex resisted oblique twists 50# 25 reps each side, then Ab Jam w/ hand and shoe weights, Stretch Max #1 for 15 minutes. The dog got sick all over the floor so I ended up cleaning the rug. I think she might have nibbled something outside. She does not spend much time outside though. Unless we are out there. I am constantly taking things away from her.

Hi, Karen. Glad to see you here.

Suz, I bet you burn some major calories with a ride like that. As far as Cardio Party #3 I think it is just as difficult as the others. The difficulty level goes up with all of them with the hand weights or if you add in the jumps. They all have people working at different levels. I just think it is the music. The main reason that I like Cardio Party Remix and Fat blaster so much is that they have more Turbos(blasts) so I feel like I got a tougher workout. If I combine the two it is 42 minutes of cardio. Have fun with your friends.

Netta, my foot feels better today. I have kind of lowered my impact this week and iced it several times a day the last couple of days.

If anyone wants to see it, I posted my August rotation on the rotation forum. Cathe posted one as well.

Welcome Karen!

Diane Sue - your ab work blows me away! Great workout!

HI Ladies -

Back from the movie. It was slow starting but was okay. So far, not too many great summer block busters IMO.

Welcome Karen........another bike rider! You ladies are gonna make me want a bike yet.

Diana Sue - I also like Cardio Party Remix and Fat Blaster the most cuz of the blasts. I do tend to like all of them, but like you say....the music is slightly better in a couple. Did you step on a dog toy? Is that what happened to your foot? I once twisted my foot trying to kick a cat toy out of the way while doing aerobics and hurt my foot.

Debbie - glad you're mending. I'm gonna go check out the rotations in a minute. I do want to continue on with my P90X rotation right now though.

Anyone do home microdermabrasion? My machine broke last week so I bought this microderm sponge off of E-bay for $15. I just got it and did a treatment and I'm surprised to say that I think it's gonna work pretty good. I may not have to replace my machine now.

I also got my X-treme Step DVD. Wow.....that's some fast footwork. The first 20 minutes are the beginner segment and then it keeps getting more complex and intricate from there. I'll have to try part of it tomorrow. I was planning on TurboJam, but now I'll have to do half and half.

Thanks for the invite Lora and to everyone else for the warm welcome.

Debbie, When I am done here, I am going to check the rotations. Thanks for all your work on them. I am glad your back is feeling better. It is so hard for me not to work out.

Netta, I don't have a single bike, and only ride 1or 2 times on the tandem with my husband. I've never done more than 40 miles and it was just in a group ride. I don't have a stationary bike, so I can't do spinervals or anything like that.

Suz, hope you feel better. Are you thinking your stomach hurts because of dairy?

Diane Sue, Have you tried any other workouts of Amy Bento? Is she coming out with new ones? Never tried her because almost everyone I've tried aside from Cathe, I don't do.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Debbie, that looks like a good rotation. I was reading that article in Oxygen about total Body workouts too. It sounds like it might be helpful. I pretty much stick with everything two times a week changing up the way I arrive at this. It might be good for me as a change of pace 3-4 times a week total body. I think 3 as I think 4 would mean really lowering the weight to get that much in.

Lora, I stepped on a large nylabone off to the side . I think it just twisted my foot wrong.

Karen, I only have Amy Bento's A Team Bootcamp. I know I usually stick with mostly Cathe. I just recently found some that I like. I love Cathe's workouts and own all of them. I use Cathe more than anything else. I think Amy's seem good. I am hoping her newer ones are even better after the feedback she recieved. There are going to be two and they are much longer than the ones now out. I found I can skip to each Cardio and weight segment and do only cardio or cardio & lower. Also there are a few different exercises so it makes for a nice change.

Diana Sue - I forgot to answer the Amy Bento question. I think Step and Pump has okay coreography. Since the segment's only 20 min's or so - it is not that complex. It is a bit fast moving. I only did it twice, but I picked it up a bit just on those 2 tries. Nothing you can't handle. I actually remember it was sort of fun. I like the last 2 workouts a lot. I believe she added a third workout to the upcoming ones, although I can't remember what it was. Yes, they are supposed to be 90 min each and only $14.95. I have my $5 off coupon and I'm ready to order when they come out. I agree that she does put a different spin on some traditional exercises. I like her and I think she'll get better over time and she does listen to her customers and try to please them.

Lora, I did not get a $5 off coupon. I guess that is for those that order the whole set. I do feel like she has a lot to offer so am looking forward to the new workouts. Thanks for the info on Step & Pump. I did look at this and thought that I would add it on to my workouts, timewise. I think she will do well. And the caveat is she has a lot of motivation when watching her dvd's.

Well, I realized that any WO today would not be very effective because I am so tired, so it's a rest day. I will get back to it tomorrow.
I just wanted to say hi to Karen! I am fairly new in this check-in too. I look foward to chatting.

Diane Sue - I agree, four times of total body is a bit much. I'm going to go with three. I'm following a rotation from T-nation. I tried it before but just didn't get it. I've read it more now and I think I can do it. I'll try it and see if I like it. I'll do Cathe for my cardio days. It will be weird not doing weight workouts with Cathe but it won't kill me for four weeks or so. I want to see how my body responds to this type of training. I'm starting on Monday.

Lora - I didn't know Miami Vice was released this weekend. I want to see that movie.

Deb- I liked the rotation. I would like to give a try after this one I am doing. I had great results from your circuit rotation.

Thanks Diane Sue. I certainly wasn't planning a rest today, but of course fire calls are unpredictable. I was gone from 11pm to 3am, then had to get up at 7. I have been on the go since. I am sure my body appreciates the rest!
Glad to hear the foot is better.
