Morning Maniacs -

this morning i did an active rest day. Ravi & Ana's Cardio, stretch and strengthen. I only had time for part of it. Workout was 50" and I burned 300 calories.

I'll be glad when today is over, as I work open to close and that makes for a real long day when we are not busy.

I'm feeling very tight....might have to do 1/2 hour cardio and 1/2 hour stretch tomorrow instead of a hour of cardio.......if I can force myself to roll out of bed on time...since that's been a problem lately.

Have great workouts.

Today was cardio but since I'm having such a hard time with it I decided to rest. Hopefully by Tuesday I'll be able to do some light cardio. I'm bummed because I just recieved Tracey Staehle's new workout "Cardio Kickbox Challenge" and I'm dying to try it. It's a follow up to StrikeZone which I love. I just don't want to chance it so I figured I'll wait until Tuesday. We'll see.

I've been warming the muscle with my bean warming pillow and a wrap my dh got me for Christmas. Then once the muscles are warmed I stretch them. Seems to be helping. I'll do this for a while and see how it goes. I think my muscles are just too tight and I don't take time to stretch much anymore. I guess this is going to have to become a daily thing for me no matter what. I've heard that the stronger the muscles are the tighter they are. So heat and stretching it is. And it feels so good heating the muscles. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Today was different for me so this morning since I had my granddaughters here I did Tracey's new Cardio Kickbox Challenge 20 minute mis and added some foam roller stretches for 8 minutes for my legs and hips concentrating more on the left side and I burned 155 calories in 30 min. I did not feel like this was bad as it was mostly w/up and stretching. The cardio did get intense though. I loved it so when I got back from running around with the grandchildren and eating chips and salsa:eek: I did the whole thing. I burned 441 calories in 58 minutes Max HR was 156. I think if I was really pushing the kicks and lower body it could be higher. I did not use weighted gloves. I really do like this workout. The Extras segement was more demos than follow along. Although if you are following along you can keep working while they are talking. Nothing new if you do Cathe's a lot. It was 7 minutes and I burned 42 calories. Probably won't use it though. After both workouts I did add some foam roller to loosen the adhesions in my lower body.

Debbie, Strike zone does have jumping in it. I love the workout. The only thing that bothered my legs and knees was the lunge jumps. There are modifiers throughout. You know after using the foam roller today I think that Kelly Coffey's bonus stretch on her 30 min to fitness bootcamp and the foam roller did awesome things for my legs and hips yesterday because today I feel a lot more tightness. In Rachel Cosgroves new book she talks about the importance of stretching and using the foam roller. She puts it in her rotations. We all know it feels like wasted time but all of the reading I have done stresses the importance of doing it to get where we want to go. Also, she mentions that yoga is fine but it works the whole body so you still have basically the same ratio of tightness(hope I am making sense) so you need to concentrate on the areas that are tight more.

Lora, I wish there was more time to do the weights, cardio, and still leave time for the stretching. I let up on it for a little bit and look what happens. At my age I need it even more.

Hermia, I bet that is a good premix I have done most of them but not that one. I bet it was excellent for a rest day:)
