Morning Maniacs-
Today is Yoga X or a rest day as we will be painting. I may do yoga tomorrow. It's a 1.5 hour dvd !!!
Diane Sue-I saw your post from yesterday. I also really like the Plyo Legs. In fact, I think it's my favorite thing about STS. I may incorporate it in the p90x rotation. I liked his leg workout but there is only one and I will need some variety

Roselyn-I saw the Insanity Series and it looks intense, but I am going to wait as I started p90x and I have Chalean to try.

Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing holiday

Theresa

Morning Maniacs-

I'm just on my way off to work. I did Greg Sim's Kickbox workout followed by Michelle Dozois' Ultimate Workout - Cardio segment. Workout was 70" and I burned 720 calories. I also did Yoga to the Rescue for Neck and Shoulders 30 minutes.

I have the Insanity series. I've only done it about 3-4 times. I'm probably doing one tomorrow. My DH loves them. I have to modify them a bit due to my cervical disc problems. They have a lot of plank push ups, plank jacks, etc. I like them okay, but I've seen some complaints from Catheites that they hate the stretch breaking up the cardio. For instance, you do 10" of hardcore cardio and then break to stretch. I don't mind and sort of like it. I've also seen peeps on here complain that their calorie burns are low. Mine are not low ....even on the shorter dvds. There are some workouts that are as short as 40" and some are 60".

bye......got to go to work now.

Have great workouts.

I got my cardio and total body work in this morning. I started with Jari's Ripped Extreme workout #1. With abs and stretch it was 52 minutes and 342 calories. From what I have in my notebook, Workout #2 is slightly lower in calorie burn. I followed with 10 minute solution 5 day fit Intervals 92 calories, then 5 Day abs using a 10# dumbbell, I then did a 28 minute treadmill interval and hill run maxing at 9mph and followed with STS Pilates based abs and 10 minutes 5 day fit power yogs.
Total calories burned today was 902, 40%fat,166 max hr. Wish I could get that up a little more. I need to stay at the 9mph longer. Not sure how next week will be. We have grandparents breakfast at one of the schools Friday morning early. I have to take the girls to their school that morning too.

Theresa, I kept P90X pretty much as is when I did it but I did add on Slow and Heavy legs two times just to feel assured that I would not lose my strength gains. I think Plyo X is part of the lower body workout. I have used P90X legs on it's own before skipping the upper segments and adding some other lower body work on for a nice lower body workout:)

Lora, I have some interest in the Insanity workouts. I just worry that it may be more impact than I want. I doubt I would ever do it as a rotation but I might change my mind if I ever purchased it. I have STS Shock cardio coming which I am sure will push me.

I saw that Kelly Coffey has shipped her new workouts out. I am sure I will be fitting them in next week when they come:D

I did cardio today. I am debating if I want to get the Insanity series to change things up a bit. I did know Kelly had new workouts. Need to check them out.

Roselyn, I ordered Kelly's new muscle definition workout, and the cardio step and plyo workout. She also did a body weight workout which I am thinking maybe I should have ordered anyway. I like weights though.

Diane Sue - of course, I've got Kelly's workouts on the way too! I'm not thrilled about the body weight one, but I will do it once in a while to change things up. Bodyweight exercises are sort of hard on my injury for some reason (maybe I weight too much..LOL). Actually, everything is aggravating me lately. Insanity isn't any more high impact than Cathe, etc. It actually is not that bad, more plyo, high knees, etc. There is some high jumping with knees way up. I usually jump on my Rebounder for part of it. You really should consider getting a Rebounder one of these days. It's great for taking some of the impact out of high impact while maintaining the intensity.

ETA: I also preordered both new The Pit workouts. One is Skills & Drills and I can't remember the other one. One uses dumbells, heavy bag, etc. and Skills & Drills uses all sorts of stuff from doing med ball slams (for which I had to buy bouncy med balls for) to body slams with these big body like things (which I'll have to modify). There are clips up on their website. They look fun!

Hey--hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Yesterday I took a rest day and today I went to yoga class. BF and I just got back from watching the time traveler's wife. Good movie, but sad.

Today is my rest day. I will have to figure out how to get all of the weight workouts in that I want to this week as I have grandparents day at 7 am Friday. I want to be able to have time to use Kelly's new workouts too.

Lora, I know I could probably find modifiers where needed for the Insanity workouts. I think I will wait a bit though. I could use something completely different from what I have been doing. There is a good article on results from bodyweight workouts in the latest M&F hers magazine. I guess it depends on how hard Kelly makes it. I will wait on that one for some reviews and watch the clips again. I have looked at the rebounders. From what I understand I should get a really good one though and I have not wanted to invest that much money on it. I didn't know that there were new Pit workouts coming. I never did hit my first one more than a few times though. I ended up with a couple of injuries so sort of have a fear of them now. I believe I just need to approach things carefully. I am so happy that lowering impact (which I was doing a lot of) got rid of the plantar facsiitis. Along with a break due to medical tests and lymph node biopsy's. I don't really want to go there again.
Shoulders are better too but I had to approach kettlebells with caution. Seems the snatches and cleans are my biggest problem. I have went over form so many times and am sure I am doing them correctly. Sorry for such a long post.

Morning Maniacs-

This morning I did Insanity - Max Cardio Intervals followed by Cardio Abs. Workout was 68" and I burned 688 calories. Not my best workout, as I'm a bit beat this AM. My max heartrate was only 164.

I also did Yoga for back pain relief, but it was too short. Need more stretching, however, I don't have time today, as I have to go to the nursing home to see my Aunt and Uncle who are both really sick.

Going to see the movie, Gamer, later. It is finally my day off!!

Diane Sue - what are you talking about lymph nodes and medical tests? Did you have to take a break cuz you were sick? I'm lost. Sorry to question you. I must not have known all of this. I also didn't know you got your PF to go away. Mine has been horrible since I've had this job on my feet for 8-10 hours a day! I don't know if snatches with KB's will ever not aggravate my shoulders, presses and snatches always aggravate me unless I keep the weight and reps lower. Whenever I do tons of pushups, snatches or shoulder presses, as well as tons of plank stuff, my shoulders get really bad. As a matter of fact, I'm icing them right now cuz I don't think I modified Insanity enough for my injury. (by the way - your post wasn't long!)

Have great workouts everyone.

Lora, I am not sure that you were here when I had some medical issues. Still have swollen lymph nodes but I think they will be there for awhile. I went through a battery of medical tests and the lymph node biopsy to try to find out why. I also went through a bout with pneumonia shortly afterward as well. Really made me take a break.
As far as my plantar fasciitis I think no impact for awhile along with a break from exercise was a Godsend. After all of this I have tried to be very conscientious of how my feet feel when working out. I am on Actnel and was diagnosed with osteoporosis. So I am trying to do what I think is the right thing on my workouts. I have recently added padding to my workout area as well as using my plyo mat. This helps a lot but I don't think is the complete solution. I would be careful with the high impact workouts. Not to many times a week. Sorry you had to ice. I don't even in very careful on upright rows. I don't lift as high. If it is too uncomfortable I modify or do something else. It is really not worth the pain and my results are still great with modifications.

Today's workout was Amy's A-Team bootcamp. Now I'm working on dinner, which is an experiment as I'm cooking with almond flour. Has anyone tried that before? If so, do you know of any good brands? I'm thinking what I made may not turn out properly as it's supposed to be blanced flour, but this doesn't look blanched to me (I assume blanch has something to do with the color white).

Hermia, I have used almond and hazelnut flour. I thought they were all really just ground nuts. Although I guess that can't be totally true because if they ground too far it would be nut butter:p I even ground some of my own nuts before with a food processor to make some bread which did turn out nice. Mostly I use them for a crust or something like that when I am trying to fix a low carb recipe. Not sure about blanching them. Usually to blanch means to be cooked for a very short time before finishing the process. That is what you do to veggies before you freeze them.
