Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Tues July 10

I ended up doing Cardio Coach 6 with Sean on the TM, Bike & Elliptical. I only got my HR up to 160 cuz this cold is moving into my chest and I started coughing and prewheezing any higher.....darned cold.....darned DH for getting me sick. The Airborne didn't work. I then did Bar Method Blasts from Designer Sculpting & Fat Free leg sections and Kundalini Yoga - Dancin The Chakra's Yoga Set only 30". Cardio segment was 65" min and I burned 430 calories.

Also, last night I did Classical Stretch AntiAging Workout and it had some good ab work. The lady that leads really gives good pointers for getting my abs worked harder than anyone and the same with the stretch and leg parts. I also did PM Pilates with Ana Caban the other night. Enjoyed that as well.

I have my doctor appointment for my foot later today. This morning I'm going to Mom's to do some things......and maybe I'll stay and make an egg white omlette for lunch over there.

Have great workouts or rest days.

Diane Sue - not that I don't trust your wisdom with the STraussberg sock rec...but the DH will never allow me to spend the money without a doctor telling me I need it....so I'm going to ask him about it today. Thanks so much for the tip. Is yours still helping? Do you where it every night? How many times a week do you run? Does yours flare up from other high impact activity also?

Dallys - I can't believe my legs and glutes are so sore from these circuits. I went really low in my sumo squats the other day and then those Hack Squats work well for the quads. Also, my legs aren't used to the leg extensions or curls and maybe the amount of weight I used did work. I think her book circuits are much better than her first set of DVDs. They move to fast to use heavy enough weights.

This morning was Angulars working Chest, Shoulders and Tri's. Had a great workout and I like the combo of exercises I picked. 1 minute rest between each set.

Chest
Flat Flyes: 35's - 3 sets/12 reps
High Incline Flyes: 30's - 3 sets/15 reps
Decline Flyes: 25's - 2 sets/20 reps
**Notes: Last set was suppose to be 3 sets but I was really burning by this point. With the High Inclines I brought my pinky fingers inward and really felt a difference in my upper pecs.

Shoulders
Wide Grip Upright Rows: 55# - 8/10/10 reps
Hammer Grip DB Front Raises: 12's - 2 set/15 reps
Standing External Rotations: 10's - 20/17 reps
**Notes: This was an EXCELLENT combo of exercises. My shoulders were fried by the time I got done. HG Front Raises & Standing External Rotations were humbling. Wanted to go heavier but the weights I picked were perfect.

Triceps
Cross Body Extensions: 15# - 1 set/15 reps; 17# - 2 sets/12 reps
One-Arm Kickbacks turning Palms up: 12's - 15/12/12
**Notes: Kickbacks turning palms up really gets in there good. Got a great burn with these.

Hope you all have a great workout!

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Going on elliptical this morning.

Got more news on FIL. Has 35 tumors on liver. Cancer center can't do anything for him. John Hopkins in Baltimore may not be able to either. He was over for dinner last night. Just becoming more tired. Doctor says he will not die from cancer, but slip into a coma as the ammonia will build up in body, but maybe will be less painful this way. I have to go over and check on him this morning and clean his house and dogs.

Toasty - so sorry to hear that news....but yes, slipping into a coma is the best way for them to go. My father was full of cancer from head to toe nearing his end, as his heart was soooo strong and wouldn't quit...so the cancer just ate him alive so to speak and he didn't have any capability of fighting the cells. After it spread to every part of his body, he slipped into a coma and died. (gosh ....that didn't sound too good, did it?). Doubt your FIL will have the same thing happen....cuz with so many tumors on the liver....he'll probably go quicker than my father. At any rate, it's never a pleasant thing to go thru. I feel for you and my prayers are with you and your family. Hang in there girl and keep up with the workous, as it will help your mood. (but of course, you already know that). ON a lighter note, Friday the 13th update this Friday!!! on BPAL and we're thinking it may be a big one. I just got my C&S for Red Moon. Did you order it?

Lora,

Thanks! This summer has just being..well, not like most. I told hubby when this is all over..we need to go on a vacation. He is taking his dad up to see his sister this weekend. Gonna be a cry fest. I don't wanna be there. I have to work anyways.

I usually don't order the lunacy stuff unless unique like Blue Moon. Thanks for the other update though. Like when you tell me cuz I just like to look sometimes.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte - glad you like your new job! I'm thinking you might like Red Moon, so you should try to grab an imp on Ebay. It's been pretty rare to find. It was one of the first Lunar's and very popular. It's a warm...somewhat spicy...somewhat floral sexy scent. I'm glad Beth brought it back as a surprise.

Hey Maniacs! Heading out for a walk with Carma. Hoping to get a circuit in later.

Lora- I've also really liked Jillians circuits from the book. That's the glory of working on your own and not from a DVD. You are in control of the weights you use, so you don't feel rushed. I've been trying to go pretty heavy with these circuits. Much heavier than I could go with a Cathe Circuit. Although, I love Cathe's too.

Toasty- I'm so sorry to hear how bad your FIL condition is. It's so hard to be there and know what's happening to him. He is so lucky to have some of his family close by.

Debbie- Another great workout for you!

Suz- Did you do the time trial?

Later...

Good morning!

No time trial last night. Too windy. :( Then I was going to do CC. DH talked me into SITTING ON THE COUCH and watching the tour. He always says I don't rest my legs enough. He keeps saying I need to lift heavy and a lot this fall/winter and he already has a plan for me to get ready for the spring for cycling, so I figured I should take a break while he's offering it up. :p My excuse to be lazy. I felt like a blob.

This morning it was super windy again so no ride (I woke up at 12:30am to 35mph winds and had to shut some windows) so I did Cardio Coach Push Pull - love that one! Then I did biceps and triceps.
Bicep curls: 15#, 3 sets of 15
Hammer curls: 12.5# 3 sets of 15
Tricep rope pushdowns 45#, 3 sets of 15
Tricep overhead extensions: 17.5#, 3 sets of 15
Finished off with tricep dips 25

See Lora - I told you I'm not lifting heavy right now.

Gotta run and meet with our kids' rock climbing instructor real quick before their class starts. This guy has HUGE muscles!!!!! Be back in a bit. :)

Lora - Great workout this morning. Sorry about you not feeling well.

Char - That is so sad about your FIL. 35 tumors. OMG! What a horrible thing to go through. For you especially. Hugs to you, my friend.

Suz - Did you get your new bike yet? I don't remember reading that you did. I'm behind on here, though. Nice workout!

Deb - right back at ya.........you always have a great workout....no wonder you look so freakin' awesome. I was looking at your pics the other day and your shoulders, etc are amazing.

Dallys- what I think is really good about Jillian's book circuits is the amount of exercises and variety she uses. Also, how she constantly changes reps. I haven't done 15 reps for a long time. I had been lifting 6-10 reps and as heavy as I could go for a while, so this is a big change for me. I'm sure I'll burn out on them soon though....plus the fact I have all kinds of new workouts I'm itchin' to try....ya know me with my fitness purchases. I have to be the guinea pig....or the universe wouldn't be balanced! When do you leave for the Beach?

Suz - thanks for saying that about my weights. I always feel so inferior to all of the heavy duty lifters here....but I'm not willing to risk making my injury any worse and I have to be smart, although sometimes I do things I"m not supposed to and then regret it when I'm suffering with pain for the next week (hard headed).

I'm back. My goodness that boy has muscles. Lora - he's a recovering addict - 2.5 years now and decided to whip his body into shape. And how! He's young, like in his late 20's. I say good for him for pulling it all together. He was just making those little 5-10 year olds run a lap in the gym before starting their rock climbing class. Hooray - start them on physical fitness. This one little, little girl did NOT want to run. She was pathetic. :) He told her GREAT JOB! Awww...

Charlotte - I'm so sorry about your FIL. How terribly sad. You hang in there.

Debbie - Yup, I got my new bike. I love it. It's in my avatar, but it's hard to see really.

I got my workout in. I need to go to the bank and see what I can accomplish:) I started with Criss Cross Cardio with Shari Jaqueline, doing the cardio core premix, then I did Sweatfest KB short premix, Gym Style back, shoulders and biceps and Stretch Max #3.
BSB:
dumbbell reverse grip row 35#, 35#, 35#
dumbbell 1 arm row 35#, 35#
Band T back squeeze silver(purple on turned to mush even though I powdered it:( )
Barbell pullovers 45#,45#
dumbbell over head press 20#,15#,15#
dumbbell lateral raise 15#, 15#
band lateral raise green
dumbbell rear fly 12#, 10#
band rear delt raise green
barbell curls 50#, 45#
dumbbell curls 10#
dumbbell concentration curls 20#, 20#
dumbbell curl up, wrist over curl down 15#
dumbbell hammer curls started 25# and lowered to 20#
dumbbell wrist curls 12#,12#

Lora, I think it would be good for you to consult a doctor. I wear my straussburg sock when it is starting to bother me. I wish the sock was a shorter one as it is kind of hot with warmer weather. High impact stuff causes it to flare as well as running. It really depends on the workout. I find most of the KB workouts do not bother. My doctor seemed to think I was on the right track as she has it to and works out. She is just a regular family practice doctor though.

Charlotte, I am so sorry to hear about your fil. That is a lot of tumors. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Might do abs later
BBL
Randi:D

Diane Sue - Great workout! I should be going heavier on hammer curls than regular dumbell curls, shouldn't I? I think I know that and then I haven't been. I've been cheating myself by dropping the weight. :( I noticed you are doing heavier on hammers.

Just got back from the foot doctor. I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and because of it, I have already developed heel spurs in both feet.....geez! He definitely says the spurs are from the fasciitis ...not the other way around. I had cortisone injections in both feet and I have to go back in 3 weeks for orthotics....JOY!!

Suz - that's great about the rock climber instructor. I'm curious though as to what made him decide to share that he's recovering? When I think back to 2.5 years, I don't think I would have told anyone I didn't really know. Now, it's been so long that I'm a totally different person...so I don't have a problem telling most peeps (just not employers!!). That's when I also got into fitness.....after I got clean. They make you start taking vitamins in rehab and then I started weight training and doing cardio, etc. Good for him!! I love to hear that. Let's hope he doesn't relapse. I was just reading a story in one of my mag's this weekend about this woman who did the same kind of drugs as me and during her story, she relapesed at least 5 times and is now 40 and only clean for a brief stint. Thank God I have 20 years clean. I'm very thankful to God for that, as I sure didn't do it on my OWN!!

Diane Sue - my doctor said the sock is an option, but he said orthotics might be covered by my insurance...so they are doing a precert.

Randi - hi......how the heck are ya? Feeling better, i hope?

Lora - Thank you for the compliment. You are sweet. :)

Suz - Cool bike. I could see it just fine when I clicked on your name. Nice! I bet you are enjoying it!

Diane Sue - Nice workout. Excellent job with the hammer curls and biceps in general.

Randi - Great workout! I love calf raises. No matter what kind or from what workout, I just love doing them.

Char - Where are you girl???

Lora - Well, he didn't tell me. He told me that he knows the gal in the office next to me really well (she's 48). So she tells me she knows him from A.A. and that he's been in recovery the same amount of time as her and that he's done so well. I know they're not supposed to tell. He always gives her a big hug when he comes in to see me. She's really involved in A.A. and he's made a few comments about his past, so he doesn't exactly hide that he has a past. I do hope he stays clean. He has a 4 year old daughter and a new girlfriend who has a 3 year old son. And he's SOOOO into fitness that hopefully that (and his daughter of course) will be more important to him than getting high.

Thanks Debbie. I do love my bike. :)

Suz = oh...that makes more sense to me. I hope he makes it. It's tough the first few years (weeks, days, months, hours, etc). My heart really goes out to him. It's sad to see people still suffering with the active disease or even just having 2.5 years scares the heck out of me. Boy, I had a lot of "street" left in me at that point.

Dallys- just got done getting set up for my circuit tomorrow. Thus, the only thing I don't like about these Jillian cir's......I had to rig up something for Terry Pulls and test weights, etc and I went and set up my bands for lat pulls in another door and the leg press downstairs. I've informed the DH that I'll be running down there to use it periodically tomorrow........and I didn't ASK!! If I was working, I could see not having time to set up the night before....plus looking up the unfamiliar stuff is a pain.....but hopefully, I'll learn and remember!!! LOL (just got more excited cuz I figured out how to do the seated leg curls with my Ambiance bands and ankle attachments....yay!!).

Lora, that is good that you may get your orthotics paid for. If my problem was worse or both feet I would probably get authorization to see a specialist. It is only my left foot. I have heard that you can develope heel spurs. Do you have to lower your impact?

Suz, I have found that hammer curls are a little easier to go up in weight on. I dropped though because I forgot how many reps there are in that set. I also think I burnt out a little because I wore the weighted gloves while doing all of that punching in the KBcardio work.

Debbie, thanks about the weights. I look at what you do and I know I can do better:)
