Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Thursday June 26

Cathlete
Hello Maniacs,

It's been an excellent morning. No client so I scheduled some time for longer cardio (thanks Debbie for the "why the heck do a two-a-day" yesterday).

Cardio--Cardio Blast Premix from BodyMax 2. Felt great! 55 min. plus stretch.

I was going to lift back and bis, but my upper back is sore from yesterday's shoulder/trap workout. Did bis instead and stretched:

Alt. DB curl 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Hammer DB Curls 3 sets, 10-12 reps
2 arm DB curls--worked the negative (!!!). 3 sets
DB wrist curls 2 sets, 12-15 reps
DB reverse curls 2 sets, 12-15 reps

My legs, glutes, chest, upper back, and tris are all still sore from earlier in the weeks so I'm really getting a lot out of my workouts.

I have a client this afternoon, so if I'm up for it, I want to hit my lats and lower back which aren't sore.

Have a great workout!!!

Laura

Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did WSFL Cardio. Six rounds of 60/120 intervals...but I did them more like 60/70. I got my HR up to 168 on one of them. For the 20 minute segment, I did Mindy's Med Ball Madness with a wimpy 4 lb ball and dropped to 2 pounds for one of the leg combos (as my legs are fatigued from yesterdays workout). Workout was 57" and I burned 538 calories with cool down and stretch. I like the stretch in this workout, as she uses the med ball for assistance and it changes the dynamics of the stretching.

Have great workouts everyone.

Toasty - are you still working at the Gift Shop? How's it going? My job is a bit boring at times. I wish they'd start to teach me more. They said they were going to....but now it seems they aren't. We'll see.

Deb - when does the Avon order go in?

Linda - did you end up losing any weight from WSFL? I haven't yet...but my eating was bad for a bit there. I'll probably take a few weeks off and do different stuff and then repeat WSFL. Have you tried any TT yet?

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

I worked my biceps yesterday, but fatigued out fast when I got done and will do triceps with chest/abs today. Bike ride for early morning warmup...12 miles.

Lora,

Yup. Liking it too so far. The owner reminds me of my husband's uncle. Always liked him so I can have fun with him. His wife...not sure yet. Anyways, I have to remember not to sit on the stools there..bar stools without back support and my back and neck area kinda off kilter from it. I don't have to stand very long anyways, but 4 hours so I will deal with it. Shoot, I don't have to worry about not getting teached at my job...everyday I come in, my manager wants to teach me something else and sometimes the brain connections go nuts and I can't remember what I first learned. lol. Now they want me doing ebay for them. BTW, fabulous workout! I got to get on my bike early..gonna be hot today.

Again, another week is almost over. I cannot believe it is almost the end of June. Scary stuff.

Today I had an excellent workout. This workout about did me in. I am wooped right now.

Weighted Chin-ups:
10# - 8/6/5/5
superset w/
Barbell Curls:
60# - 8/8/6/6

SS #2
Overhand Barbell Rows:
65# - 10
70# - 8/8/8
superset w/
Dumbbell Curls:
25's - 6/8/8/8
***The first set of dumbbell curls was Zottman curls. My forearms did not like this at all so I only did one set. Wonder what's up with that? It was very painful.

SS #3
Pullovers:
40# - 10
45# - 8/10/10
superset w/
Alternate Hammer Curls:
25's - 8/8/8/8
***Could have gone heavier with the Hammer Curls but again, my forearms were really bothering me. They were burning big time. Could have done 50# with pullovers but don't have 50# dumbbells.

That is all...

Be back later.

Morning Maniacs,

Have some good DOMS going on from yesterday's lifting. Today was cardio and I grab Amy's Advanced Step Challenge again, doing the power up 2x through first then doing the combos. I really love her complex chorography.(sp?)

Lora - No I didn't lose any weight with WS, but it is was all my fault. My eating was all over the place, good for three days, absolutely horrible for the next four and so on. But I think WS kept me from gaining. I haven't even looked at TT yet, I was too busy studying for my exam. I plan to look at it over the next couple of days, because I'd like to try it next week. Did you ever hear anything from that other interview?

Debbie,

Excellent workout! Why doesn't January go this fast as June???? Never does. I swear January is like a year in itself for me.

Teddygirl,

I might have to switch up to do same kind of workout you just did. Nicely done!

Hey everybody!

I'm off work for a couple of days. Taking a break after kids camp. I have another one in a few weeks. I'm going to LA for a visit in July. Should be fun. Will see lots of friends. Haven't been back in a few years.

I just finished my shoulder therapy workout. My PT let me add in weights finally. I've got really nice shoulder definition now and I love it! The workout is now taking me about an hour and 15 minutes! Obviously I do both shoulders. I'm getting a cortisone shot on Monday :( and that's my last hope. They say that works in 25% of the people. If that doesn't work it looks like I'll have to have surgery. But I've done great with my strength so that's good. Of course, I'm a Catheite! What did he expect!

DH and I are going to ride later. I've been putting in tons of miles and loving it. Still haven't had a migraine or a headache since I crashed on my bike a month ago! Unheard of for me. I've also been working legs twice a week and loving the results of that finally. I work bi's and tri's on leg days which are two of my hard ride days. I do shoulders 3x a week. I feel like I'm working out constantly. But I really want to avoid surgery and I'm also trying to overcome this overtraining thing on the bike. My girlfriend and I are riding 50 miles in a big ride on Saturday. We wanted to do more but we both have other things going on that day so we had to cut it short.

I saw my neurologist Tuesday and weighed 114 even though I drank a Myoplex before I went in and stepped on the scale. I thought he was going to be upset since I've gotten so many lectures from him in the past but he was pretty kind about it (maybe he's given up on me finally!). He just said that I'd lost 7 pounds since I saw him 3 months ago. I told him I'd been under a lot of stress at work and that I'd planned on gaining some of it back. We talked about my shoulder and how they said stopping lifting weights contributed to that problem and he said that probably didn't help my weight issue. Whew! :)

Just thought I'd check in since I had some time being off work for a change! Hope you all are well. Miss you guys!

Good Morning, I finished up my workout. I started with Kelly Coffey's Cardio Sculpt Fitness stopping at the abs, then I did 4Day Split HIS Circuit stopping at the abs, did LIS Calves using 25# unintelligent bells throughout, Repeated the final combined HIS segment two more times, then did Butts and Guts Bonus lower body 6 minutes segment and HIS stretch. Workout was 2 hrs 10 minutes and I burned 823 calories 55% fat. I was a little worried after dil said the doctor said I had a compression fracture and needed to be put on Boniva or something because she was going to treat it as osteoporosis. I called and she said it is in my back. I wanted to know why it doesn't hurt. And was wondering about my working out. Dil said it is probably because of the working out that it does not hurt. So now I am trying to research everything. From what I read weight bearing exercise is supposed to be part of helping it. I did not get to talk to the doctor though. She is off today. She is discussing my stuff with a surgeon on the lymph nodes and I may have to have a biopsy:(

Suz, so good to see you check in. I hope you don't have to have surgury on your shoulder. Enjoy your bike ride.

Linda, that is great that you are having some doms:D I haven't had much doms myself lately with the circuits. Next week I will start something else. I was giving myself a little break.

Teddy, great job on the Pyramids:)

Charlotte, 12 miles is a warm up?? LOL

Lora, you have been getting in some good workouts. Have you found a way to get in decent intervals with less impact?? Sometimes I have to drop to a really low weight and think I am such a weenie LOL

Laura, nice workout this morning.

Diane,

Good luck with all that. Let us know.

I just got back from ride. Boy, my mind was telling me..SUPERWOMAN..lol. Went out and felt nothing of the sort today. My legs are actually pretty fatigued over the course of the week from what I have been doing to them. lol. I still did the 12 miles, but it took me over 1 hour to do it. The air quality is also very bad today as well. I am just thawing out..drinking my protein shake and water and then will workout upperbody. Have to work tonight.

Char - I've been using the gold bottle kind for months now and LOVE it. Yes, it works well if you aren't allergic to the ingredients. So far I've been lucky. My skin is really sensitive but the ANEW line does not bother it.

Diane Sue - I'm sorry to hear about your back. That's what happened with my shoulder. Once I stopped lifting it reeeeally started hurting. In the past when I'd lift and it would start to hurt a bit I'd lift lighter until the pain would go away and I'd be good to go. But when I took that break from lifting that's when it all went downhill for me. I hope you don't have to have surgery either. I've never even been in the hospital! We'll keep our fingers crossed for each other.

SUPERWOMAN - Some days no matter what you do your legs are just fatigued on the bike. You'll feel like you've done everything right and you get out there and you can't seem to get the lactic acid out of your legs and you just poke along even though you feel like you are really pushing it. Isn't that crazy? You work so hard all the time. I'm glad to see you're still riding. :)

Try this if you like beans:
Open a can of refried ff pinto beans, I add about a Tablespoon on each english muffin, then add tomatoes, onion and sprinkle with cheese and bake for 15 minutes, just a thought, I'm having tomorrow :7
