Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Sunday July 8

Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Jillian Circuit from the book, day 2, back side. Used my Extreme Green Beachbody band for the lat pull downs and seated rows with my door attachment. Used my real jumprope for the jumprope segments and had a good workout. Set up my little crappy bench upstairs to do leg curls but the angle of the bench bothered my low back a bit. I listened to Blood Sugar Sex Magick by the Chili Peppers. I finished in about 52 minutes and then I did The Killer section of Kung Fu Kickboxing. Workout was 1 hour and 18 minutes and I burned 456 calories. (this section of Kung Fu Kickboxing made was a bit harder to follow, as the combo's got more complex....but it was really good again....lots of tough moves). I ended with a Lotte Berk Leg Blast from Muscle Eats Fat and then did the Relax and Stretch segment of Perfect in 10 Yoga (my DDD special DVD).

I'm not feeling that well. I think I'm getting my DH's cold. I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. Mind was going a million miles a minute....now I feel drained.

Dallys - thanks for the tip about using more than 1 band for the Lat pull downs. I tried it yesterday when I was setting up and I can use more than 1 band with my door attachment.

Have great workouts or rest days everyone. I've gotta get going here.....have colour in my hair and I'm on a timer. Be back later.

Good morning!

I can't sleep. It's 4:45 and I've been awake since 3:30. It got really windy and the wood blinds in the bedroom were slamming against the window. Today was going to be rest but I think I'll do biceps and triceps.

Diane Sue - So nice to have you back. Glad you had fun. And glad you saved Puddle from the stalker! That's weird. Maybe they just wanted a dog like that. How many days a week do you do cardio and for how long? I'm thinking that when it's all said and done, I'll settle on 5 days a week of cardio and 3 days of lifting. I think that's what works for my body to keep it lean. But I do think DH is right and that I need more protein (Lora and me both!). I worry that upping my protein will cause me to gain weight, but he keeps telling me not to focus so much on the scale which I know, but it's so hard not to. If my waist size stays a 24, who cares what the scale says? And that is so true. Pretty soon he's going to throw the scale out the window!

GET UP EVERYBODY!!! :p

Lora - I forgot to tell you I hope you feel better. And seriously you should get some ColdMD. I'm not kidding about that stuff. I haven't had a cold in FOREVER AND EVER. I swear by that stuff. So does DH.

I think this is kind of a cool tribute to women (or something like that). Tomorrow a friend of mine is turning 50. She's a judge in town. I met her about 12 years ago. So tonight 5 of us are going to dinner in Colorado at her favorite restaurant (where they've even named a martini after her) to celebrate. So I was thinking of the women who are going...there's the one who is a judge and has been ever since I've known her. One is an investigator for the Dept. of Criminal Investigation (and most recently left the military full-time, is a part-time trainer and just became runner up in the Mrs. Wyoming contest, yup, she's beautiful). One is a police officer who I've only met once - go figure since you would think she'd be the one I know since she works where DH works and she's been there for quite awhile. The other one is the assistant D.A. Her and I are riding down together and she's kind of new to the DA's office and apparently all the cops think she is the most beautiful woman they've ever seen (she is adorable but she also has a very sweet PERSONALITY and super cute hubby!) so my DH said, "Do you know how many guys would love to trade places with you?" Men! Anyway, I was just thinking what a powerful group of women they are. Interesting. Maybe it's because I'm up so early. :)

Suz - your friends sound pretty amazing. You hang with some good peeps, huh? Where do you buy this ColdMD stuff ...the drugstore? Is it expensive?

This morning was cardio and I had a great workout even though my glutes are really sore today. I felt like I was running on clouds. I did Cardio Coach #6 with Candace. I love her workout, she does two challenges with sprints in the beginning and I love that. I had a hard time getting my HR up this morning but when I got to challenge 4 which is a 3 minute hill climb and then you do a 1 minute sprint on no incline, my HR got up to 167 with all three intervals. The highest I've ever gotten my HR was 170 and I thought I was going to die! LMAO! Anyways, it felt great.

Then I did the ab work from Cardio & Weights. Love the plank work in this one.

Cardio stats:
59 min.
49 min. in zone
361 calories burned
3.4 miles travelled

Hope you all have a great workout and Sunday!

Good Morning, I stayed up till 2 am printing pictures and working on a scrapbook I am doing for dh. Got up and printed more pictures this morning. Today I am going to do a walk/ light jog on the treadmill to warm up good and then do some of Yoga Shatki. Tomorrow I will start back into heavier weights.

Lora, I hope you get over the cold quickly.

Suz, I usually do cardio 6 days a week for 45 to 60 minutes. As active as you are with all of the bike riding I would think you could use more protein in your diet. I doubt it would make you gain fat. The only way that would happen is if you are consuming more calories than you are burning. I try to make sure I am eating some protein with all of my carbs.

Debbie, I always think it is great when I can hardly get my breath because I am putting a lot into an interval. Makes me happy when it is over;)

Suz - when I find a good protein source I like, I think He@* will be frozen over!! I simply can't find anything besides cheese, yogurt and nuts. Egg whites in the microwave make me want to puke! My DH always says if I drink protein drinks, I'll gain weight! LOL about the scale.....as I weigh myself every morning and I STILL haven't gotten that stupid thing to read what I WANT!! I wish I had Diane Sue's problem. My pants will NEVER fall down! I went to the store and the Cold MD was $27.99........so DH made me get Airborne instead and it tastes like crap. I hardly ever get colds but when I do - it's traumatic for me....as I'll get a secondary sinus infection which in turn, makes my polyps worse and the entire course of prednisone and antibiotics I took will just go out the window!!!!

Lora - Nope. Actually I hardly see these gals - a couple times a year. The peeps I hang with all the time would be my cycling partner who is a SAHM who is homeschooling her kids (admirable!), my other cycling partner who is a daycare licenser for the state and was working to finish her degree but just got pregnant at 44 after trying and trying (has 3 grown girls from 1st marriage) - scary, my good friend who does marketing for a mental health facility and my admin. assistant at work. See, everyday normal people like me. :) But people who amaze me every day by the things they do and their great friendships!

You can get ColdMD MUCH cheaper at Wal-Mart. Where did you get it?It's about $19 but it's SO worth it. Trust me! You take 2 in the morning and 2 at night for 3 days when you feel like you're getting sick. Better than Airborne. But Airborne's better than nothing. I know what you mean about the protein. I have a hard time. DH tells me just to mix a scoop of protein powder in some chocolate soy milk. He says it's really good. Or have a Myoplex Lite shake just to get one extra serving of protein a day.

Debbie - I LOVE that workout you know. ;) Great job!

Diane Sue - That's good to know about the cardio. I just think my body needs more cardio. I try to eat protein with every carb but I notice that with more fruit in the summer I've been grabbing fruit and not having any protein or my last meal before bed I've been having trouble doing protein with that one. And I know better.

Debbie- Great job on the CC!

Diane Sue- How weird that that guy paid so much attention to your dog! I would think he would want to steal it and then say it was his because he had prove with a picture! Glad you took her home.

Lora and Suz- Speaking of protein. I'm reading BFFM and I'm right in the "protein" section. LOL! Say it with me...We MUST eat protein if we want to keep our muscles!!!

Dallys - What a great workout woman! We're watching the Tour de France too. We DVR it every year and then sit on our butts and watch it. :p It's the highlight of our summer. We're always sad when it ends. Those guys are so skinny. Little stick arms and bony little chests. Hehehe. But they're FAST!

I better go get BFFM out again. I keep forgetting. :)

Suz- It's the highlight of our summer too. I could not believe how Robbie McEwan won today. It's like "where in the world did he come from?" He crashed and was clear in the back with a sore wrist! Then he just suddenly sneaks in for the win. Loved it! It is funny how small some of these guys are. Like Lipheimer (sp?) is only 5'7" and weighs 135lbs. I think McEwan is 5'7" and weighs 145lbs. Their arms and chests are skinny, but they have great legs. I remember Lance saying something like how he couldn't even look at a weight during the season because he gains muscle too fast and it would slow him down. He said that he is not the best body type for cycling and the ideal body types are built like little horse jockeys.

Dallys - That is so funny - we are still watching it and haven't gotten to the end yet! But now I know the winner! :p I didn't tell DH. Since we record it we watch it later in the day. I was so bad last year that I could never wait and I would sneak a peek on the OLN website half the time to see who won the stage for the day. That is funny about Robbie McEwan. He ALWAYS does that. He's nowhere to be seen and then he wins the stage. How does he do that. See, now you say that about Lance and then I start to rethink my lifting legs during cycling season. NOT that I'm fast like that or anything, but...

Just got done cleaning. I usually do it Monday mornings, but I wanted to get it out of the way since I'm not feeling well. We ate dinner at 1:00 pm and now I'm freakin starvin' to death here.

Dallys - yes, I know...protein!! I was told that the foods I eat are not "high quality" protein by a doctor. Good job on the workout. Is that a Jillian one? What day are you on? I think I'm going to need a rest day pretty soon. These circuits leave me sore in the legs constantly cuz you work them every circuit.

I think I need to make an appointment for my plantar fasciitis. It's not getting any better and last trip to Vegas did me in. I wonder if the foot doctor can help me??

Toasty - are you working??? We miss you.

Hi to everyone else.

Lora- Yes, it was a Jillian workout. I'm on week 7-8. I go on vacation next week, so this might be my last week for awhile. If you feel worn out, take a rest day or spread out the workouts. I did it a couple of times. It's tough doing 4 circuits a week. Have you tried hard boiled eggs? I used to hurl over egg whites (loved the yolks), but now I can eat them (took awhile) and hard boiled is the easiest way for me to eat them regularly. I just eat them chopped with salsa and a sprinkle of cheese. I hate them microwaved! Ick!

DAllys- thanks for the egg idea.....can you hardboil in a microwave?? I don't have a working stove. Where are you going on vacation?? Are you still losing weight from the circuits and are you still adding lots of cardio?

Catherine--I do this too! Sorry Hardcore Maniacs! I hope you don't mind us 'spying' on your workouts. You guys are fantastic!

Hey Maniacs!

Been keeping up with my workouts. Feeling very good at this point as I haven't let anything get in the way of keeping me from doing it. Going on my 3rd week starting tomorrow with Slow and Heavy Series, I'm still working with weights from 30lbs to 6lbs. Depending on the excersise. With shoulders and back I have to be careful in that area,so that's where I use my lightest weight but heavy enough for me. I'm getting higher with weights for my legs and arms though. Cardio is still walking, my knee has been feeling much better, so I'm gonna start incorporating kickboxing during the weight training too.

Just finished legs, will do bi's and tri's tomorrow and some form of cardio!

Hope you all have a great Sunday! :)

I have been busy with scrapbooking all day. My son bought our puppy Mudd home this afternoon. Had to give her a bath and clean her bedding up. Today I walk/jogged on the treadmill with some hills for 3.25 miles, then I did Yoga Shatki Basic Flow.
