Hardcore Fitness Maniacs For Sunday 2/25

Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Cardio Coach #3 on the Treadmill. I did jump on the Ellipitcal a few times to take some of the impact off of my foot. I repeated one of the challenges and then I did Hip Hop Abs Level 2 Fat Burning Cardio (for about 35 minutes). This was relatively difficult after CC! My HR actually climbed to 150 or so during some of the harder segments. I ended up doing a total of 1 hour 20 minutes of cardio and my HRM read a calorie burn of 550....although not sure if it's accurate today...as my battery is getting weak and it lost the settings yesterday and my resting HR was not set correctly. It was set at 70....which is higher than mine. I then did Yoga for Athletes with Kim Fowler......felt real good!

Charlotte- How much do single imps of Limiteds sell for on Ebay?

Diane Sue - thanks for the help yesterday. I'm going to try to cut down my Advil intake....although I'm on prescription meds so ....who knows. Also, about the circuits....I'm worried about losing upper body muscle. I actually even need to build more......what would you suggest 2 circuits and one total body? I appreciate your help. Do you not like Eion's practices? I was thinking you should get Power Yoga for Happiness from Amazon. It has 5 premixes on it and it's a great DVD ........has the BEST 30 minute yoga premix on it! It's my all time favorite 30 min yoga, as it has a very good balance of poses in it for such a short time. It's around $20 at Amazon.com. I know I mentioned this before and you never comment....which leads me to think you must not care for Eion........although as much as I love him, I don't see how you couldn't!! :)

Deb -yes, there are only the 2 of us and we sure make a mess also! Especially trash!!

Jen - If you think the original YBB is "dancy", wait until you see the Lives......as they all have "themes".....Hip Hop, Cabaret, Go..Go, etc. Maybe you should try to get one off of Ebay before you would purchase them. I agree with Diane Sue that they are fun. They always lift my spirits....however, I can make them pretty intense if I want to. It all depends how much effort you put into it. I"ve got my HR up to 150 or so doing them by adding some jumps, larger arm movements, etc. Same with Hip Hop Abs....did level 2 this AM and had my HR up there for a few segments. (sorry about your lonely posting late....but since I get up so early....I'm not usually around after 8:00 pm or so. I have to go wind down and try to get to bed.
Hi to everyone who follows

Hi!

I was sick all day yesterday...the stomach flu finally got a hold of me. I laid in bed most of the day watching movies and sleeping. You know, somedays I dream of laying around and watching movies. But, when it actually comes down to it, it sucks! I hate laying around!!!
Dh was great though...he took care of the kids, did laundry, and made supper (frozen pizza). He was calling himself mr. mom. (Ha, Ha, Ha!) I think it is good for him to experience my "day" every once in awhile!

Anyway, I don't know if I will be back later or not. Just wanted to say hi!

Sara

Had a great workout this morning. Usually on Sunday's I just don't feel like doing anything but this morning was different. Funny what good eating can do. I didn't have any cheats yesterday and ate on plan. I sure can feel the difference when I do that.

Worked Back and Biceps mixing compound moves with isolations again. 2 minutes break between each set:

Back:
Close grip chins: 11/8/5 (my personal best!)
Barbell Rows: 60# 1 set/10 reps; 65# 2 sets/10 reps (up from last week)
T-Bar Rows: 60# 1 set/9 reps; 1 set/10 reps
T-back Squeeze w/purple band: 2 sets/16 reps

Biceps:
Barbell Curls: 55# 1 set/10 reps; 1 set/7 reps; 1 set/6 reps (up from last week but probably should have stayed the same since I couldn't complete 8 reps)
Dumbbell Preacher Curls: 22's 2 sets/8 reps (up from last week)
Concentration Curls: 25# 2 sets/6 reps (should have went lower but I think the only way I can get up higher with my biceps is pushing hard until I break the plateau)
Wrist Curls: 15's 3 sets/12 reps

I'm wiped and I'm sore from yesterdays workout. My chest is so tight today.

Char - Where are you? I pm'd you, need your advice.

Suz - Great going on Imax 2 last night! Great workout!

Jen - Monica Brandt doesn't work her chest? How is that possible? Where was that article? Which Oxygen month? I have them all but don't remember reading that.

Lora - Great workout this morning! I love CC #3.

Sara - Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you all have great workouts!

Morning Maniacs! Going to try my Itread workout today. I let you know how it goes.

Jen- I'll have to check out that book. And thanks for explaining what GMAFB meant. I'm surprised I haven't seen that around more. I likes it!:)

Debbie- Holy Cow! You really had a great workout today! Don't you just love it? 11 chins! Fantastic! I do better if my eating is on track too.

WD- I agree with Lora. Eoin Finns Y4H is really good and he has a great 30 min. and 40 min. workout on it, among others. I also like his Power yoga DVD which has a short routine, but it's 45 min.

Sara- Poor thing! I hope you feel better soon!

Be back later...

Good morning, today is my rest day. I am going to do some yoga though. That will be it for me. I need to bake birthday cake for a family gathering tomorrow and spring clean our trailer.

Lora, I have the two free downloads of Eoin's that you told me about before. I haven't done the hips one yet. I have done the yoga quickie one a few times though. I guess I do need to get the dvd. Something about doing it to audio I don't like to much. I did the yoga quickie one last week. I would think two circuits and one total body would be good. Another option would be to add on some extra upper one day and extra lower another if time permits. Or do two circuits and a focus day on upper 1 week and the next two circuits and a focus day on lower.

Sara, sorry you are feeling bad. Yes, having to lie around is not as much fun as doing it for enjoyment.

Deb-It's the Feb 2007 issue, "Love your Legs" article, p.85 second to last paragraph-"I don't do much chest work," says Monica, "and I don't recommend a lot of chest work to women unless they're into female bodybuilding. Maybe some incline presses or push-ups, but that's it. When I was in fitness compeitions, I did so many push-ups that I built up my arms and chest enough that I don't have to train them anymore. When I help other women, we often agree that they already have nice arms and don't need to continue working on them-that frees up more time for abs and cardio."

(So, Deb, maybe I will keep working my underlying muscles until what's over it decides to head a little more north!! LOL! :) I need more help than just push ups!)

If you decide to crack open that issue, I wanted to know your thoughts about the "bottom of the score sheet nobody" comment on page 140. I have decided to stop reading Oxygen for now because of that comment. (I don't subscribe but pick it up occassionally.) I don't mean to make it into a big deal but it hit me the wrong way. They meant it as a compliment to the competitor about how far she's come, but I don't think they should have printed it in those terms. Isn't everyone who is able to attain that level of fitness in their lives at least a somebody? Is this what Oxygen thinks of competitors that are just entering the sport? Is this what they think of anyone who is not in the top ten? Bodybuilding has come a long way, but I think that comment reveals how superficial and cut-throat it still is sometimes. What is your take if you don't mind discussing it? I am an open person and would not knock anyone who continues to read-for the most part, the magazine gets it right and is an inspiration to many. I will probably go back to reading it too once I get over this.

(Lora-sorry to be repeating my soapbox here, as I know I already covered this at Yoga sometime back.)

Jen

Dallys-If you want to PM me your address, I will be glad to lend you my copy of "Happy Yoga". Keep it for as long as you like. :) I've got a lot to keep me busy right now.

Jen

Suz- I know you always forget to check your PM's. So, I'm telling you to check your PM's. :)

Jen- That is a horrible comment from Oxygen. I only have Fitness Magazine right now and didn't renew. These type of Magazines always end up making me mad. Mostly with all the crappy advertising and the 15 year old fitness models that don't know what it means to workout.

Dallys - Bummer about the Itread. I wonder what happened to the downlaod? Hope you can get it again.

Jen - What paragraph on Page 140? I read that article but don't remember anything pissing me off about it. I'm curious to what you read. Also, I will ALWAYS work my chest, I don't agree AT ALL with what Monica said.

Deb-It's the article called "Europa Super Duper Show". Here's most of the context- "You can set your watch by third place finisher Julie Palmer. She is, hands down, the most consistent athlete in the sport of fitness. Whether you love it or hate it, Palmer's physique is always in the best possible condition, proportion and balance for her body type. Nothing in this sport has come easy for her, but she is unrelenting in the pursuit of her dreams. Since the beginning of her career, Palmer has methodically worked to improve and move from a bottom of the score sheet nobody to a solid, top-ranked fitness champion."

Jen

Dallys-It's an easy read and not thick at all. 256 pages. They probably have a synopsis on Amazon or Barnes and Noble that may help you make up your mind. No biggie if you decide to pass on it-consider it a standing offer and take me up on it anytime.

Afternoon Maniacs!!!!

Satellite down most of morning..we got snow..6 inches or so. Watching episodes of One Tree Hill with dd. Gotta workout here soon. Doing chest/back from Cathe's slow and heavy series. Got ab work to do too. My weight is back up to 119. My food intake has been extremely on the good side..little sodium as well. Gotta burn more cals I guess. More cardio.

Went shopping with dd yesterday. Dressing room mirrors? Yikes! Seen that I have put on more muscles then I thought...can just see more in those mirrors. I was surprised actually. At the same time, I notice the fat still around lower back. I have to trim that off..only way..more cardio so I am looking for a rotation..DEBBIE!!!!! (just kidding) that has a good mixture of cardio and weights.

No time for personals. Ya'll are way ahead of me this morning. Talk to ya later.

I feel good today. No stress, nothing is bothering me. Concentrated on my workout and felt it was a good one. Can't believe how I had to lower my weight with these slow workouts. It was tough. My challenge is to go heavier.

Enjoy your workouts everyone, it is so good for you.

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Finished Chest/Back. Stuck with 35's for everything in beginning. Pullovers just used a 40# db. Cathe goes slower so I had to reduce weights some. 90# for deadlifts and finished out with the core work. I feel happy now with the weights I was using as I felt so weak a few days ago.

Lora,

The trick and the treats imps were going for $15 a piece, at least. I got a LE for $4 though so I guess it just depends.

Great cardio burn. If I burned that much, I would be doing the happy dance. Good for you!

Debbie,

That is excellent ON EVERYTHING! You should be very happy! Gosh, I would. We know how hard it is for chin ups. Those numbers are mighty mighty hulky of you!!!!!! The curls too. Woo Hoo! You are gonna be sore for awhile, but oh well!

Sara,

Sorry to hear you have been sick. I hate laying around too, but sometimes we have no choice but to listen to our bodies. I should know..my shoulder had been bothering me and set me back. You will be right on top again before you know it! Take care. (((HUGS)))

Bionics,

I have no idea what workout you are doing, but hope it goes well. How are your knees doing?

Diane Sue,

Enjoy your day. Yoga makes you feel even more relaxed. Will have to add some in when I figure out what I will be doing. lol

Janie,

Love that workout. One of my favs.

Jen Jen,

I did not know you were in fitness competitions! Wow, impressive. Will you please help with pushups? I could always improve. I must have missed that comment. Will check it out.

Charlotte~~

Jen - I did read that, I think Julie Palmer is an awesome athlete. I don't get what bothered you about that paragraph.

Char - Cool on going shopping. Don't remember what that feels like! LOL! I'm glad you see more muscles, keep in mind the weight gain is probably that muscle. Don't let it freak you out, girlfriend. You are doing so well! Great workout, too! You are really pushing the weights for chest. What Cathe workout did you do?

Janie - Great workout! Love S&H!

DID A WO!!! DID A WO!!!!!

I managed Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Xtreme, and then BM2 abs. I have not done a WO at all in atleast a week. It felt so good to do one today. My eating has been good today. I have not been eating enough all week, but doing alright today.

Sorry I have been gone. Lot of issues here. I miss you guys. I will hope to continue this trend of daily WOs again. Hopefully I can do some yoga tonight. I have like 3 new ones to do!

Hey Maniacs! I ended up doing CC#4 followed by Yoga Shatki's Forward bends and twists and Supine poses.

Debbie- you are right. #4 is a killer! Only 30 sec. rests! Oy!

Char-Don't you just love the dressing room mirror? Sounds like you are putting on muscle, not fat. Don't worry about the scale weight. Go by how your clothes fit.:) You got a great workout in too! Here is the book with the workouts I'm doing. http://www.amazon.com/New-Rules-Lifting-Maximum-Muscle/dp/1583332383 Also, here is Alwyn Cosgroves website. Check it out. http://www.alwyncosgrove.com/Home.html Oh yeah, my knees are doing good. Don't jinx them. LOL!

Jen- I'll go check that book out on Amazon, and get back to you.:) Checked out the book. I'm going to wait on it for now, but will remember the standing offer. I have to be mentally prepared to read a yoga book. LOL!

Janie- NICE workout! You are doing great!

Meg- That's Fantastic! I bet you feel good today! May the trend continue.:)

I've edited a hundred times so don't miss out. ROFL!
