Morning Maniacs -

This morning I just did some easy "recovery" cardio. Carlos CIA Dance Xplowsion. I overslept and was sort of rushing around and my head wasn't really into it....so it was a pretty low intensity workout HR 60-70% max. I did about 45 minutes of it and then cooled down. I burned 330 calories.

I also did Yukta Yoga (which I also didn't really like) and Ravi & Ana's Yoga Quickfix for Headaches. (need to pull out some of my old yoga faves...as nothing's getting into these tight muscles). I rolled my upper back out on the foam roller for my severe spasms. Need to do more of that later.

Well, I'm torn on what to do about starting this rotation and going away. The scale is now down my 3 water weight pounds and one additional pound. I have to agree Alwyn is a genius. Maybe I'll play around with some Turbulunce Training, NROL FatLoss or Action Hero workouts this week and just start Warp Speed when I return from Vegas (although I'll need to do it for 2 months with a week recovery in between cuz I always gain weight on vacation). My last 2 vacations and my Christmas chocolate binge are the reason I now have about 13 pounds too lose. Last couple times I gained, it didn't come off like usual! Sucks getting older.

ETA: oh and if I followed the diet on Warp Speed, I'd probably shred to bits! One meal is 3 omega eggs and 5 egg whites one day and another day a meal is a Tablespoon of Peanut Butter, an Apple and a Protein shake .....and that's on a carb day!! The apple is the carb!!! YOY!! I think the closest thing I see resembling a carb besides the fruit is a bowl of oatmeal on certain days!

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Good morning my friends!

How is everybody? Well, yesterday I went to the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and had my seecond opinion on the exercise-induced asthma since the inhalers weren't working and I was quite suspicious and guess what? I don't have EIA at all!!! In fact, my numbers got higher AFTER they killed me on the bike for 45 minutes! They ran the pulmonary tests and then we also had them do a lactate threshold test and a VO2 max test. And the verdict...I'm overtraining and have been for so many years that I've trained my body to work in overdrive (or something like this). This is why I can't ever get the lactic acid out of my legs and why they always burn. My lactate threshold is 170 (HR) and when I work out my HR is in the 170's and 180's. The doctor said that's bad bad bad to always be working that far above my lactate threshold. So, of course, my husband is sitting there looking like the cat who swollowed the mouse. He has been telling me this for years. He says I always go out and kill myself and if I don't then I don't think I'm getting a good workout. This is true. But I'm supposed to have easy days and and blah, blah, blah. But...I happen to know that the gal I'm riding with this morning never does. So I asked about her and the doctor said some people are just made differently (genetically lucky?). My husband is like that too.

So...the moral of the story. If you have any doubt that your diagnosis is incorrect, get a second opinion! I could have been using inhalers in my lungs for years that were completely unnecessary. A PA even told me they were working even though I didn't feel it! And imagine the money I would have wasted all these years. I just spent $50 on a new one to try just a couple of months ago. I didn't realize I was going to get in so soon to Boulder. What a waste of money. Since it was an out of network provider I had a $500 deductible and then my insurance is only paying half and then probably none of the LT test or the VO2 max test, but we figured since we were there we'd have those done. But it was definitely worth it.

Okay, off for a 30 mile ride with my girlfriend. Then starts my "smarter" training. My DH told the doctor, "I'm glad you're telling her this doc because I've been telling her for years and she won't listen to me." x( They said in Boulder you can throw a rock and hit someone who is overtraining. Maybe I should move to Boulder and fit right in. :)

Have a great weekend and great workouts everyone! Oh - we just bought a Bowflex Revoloution SUPER CHEAP from someone and we pick it up today after my ride. Yay!

Morning Maniacs! Suz - that is very interesting. Last year I felt like that in my legs, always sore and stiff.

Glad to know you are on the mend!

I did the cardio for the warp - and I liked it. I am going to start the program on Monday.

WE are on the road again, going to visit grandmothers! Have a great weekend everyone.

Suz - you're a true maniac!!! Now the World Knows!!

Ally - I sent you an email......please let me know what you think.

Off to the eye doc's to pic up my glasses.

Ok, something in this rotation is really causing my traps and neck pain. I can't even turn my head left today. Yesterday it was the right side. WTF??? I'm actually pretty sure it was shoulder day. WAY too many exercises and I think the Leaning Lateral Raise is what is causing me this pain because it happened the last time I did that routine. I have one more week of this rotation and then I'm on a break. I'll figure out what to do after that.

1:10 min. rest between each set

QUADS
Leg Extensions:
110# - 12/12/12
After the 3rd set I dropped the weight to 85# and repped out at 12.
***These felt good. I'm very strong with this exercise but my knees kind of yell at me after the 2nd set.

Squats:
85# - 12/12/12
***Had good form with this exercise. Went light but that's ok with me.

Leg Press Machine:
150# - 12
160# - 12/12/12
***LOVE this exercise. I was only suppose to do 4 sets but I decided to skip the Hack Squats due to my trap pain so I added on another set of Leg Press.

HAMSTRINGS
Elevated SL Deads:
85# - 12/12/12
***No pain in my low back this time. Was a bit worried about that.

Hamstring Curls:
60# - 12/11/8
After the 3rd set I dropped the weight to 45# and repped out at 8.
***Wow, this was hard. My hammies gave up pretty quickly after the 1st set.

CALVES
4DS Calf work
***LOVE this workout. Get a great burn with it.

That is all....

Suz - WOW! That is unbelievable! I'm so glad you got a second opinion and I certainly hope you listen to the doctor. Train smart! :) Hugs to you!

Thanks you guys. :) I actually had a great ride this morning with my girlfriend. She's one of the ones I have such a hard time with because she's (admittedly) so competitive so it's very hard to go out and have a ride where we're not just trying to kill each other. But today, although it wasn't super easy, it wasn't the hardest ride I've ever done. We went 39 miles and my average HR was only 156 (we did stop twice for about 5 minutes b/c she has a new bike and it was having some issues on its maiden voyage). I accidentally turned my bike computer off so I just asked her our distance and didn't even ask her what our average speed was. I'm trying to be good and not get so wrapped up in that right now. We had a great time and some great conversation - in which I actually got to participate because I could breathe!

I'll start hitting the weights again this week too so I'll be watching you all a bit more closely. You are all so motivational. I like to peek in on you all every now and then. I haven't lifted much at all since *gasp* December!!! Time for me to straighten up!

Ally - Now you know what to look for too, huh?

I just completed the UB from Power Hour. My legs are too sore to work them with weights. But I am gonna hop on the TM for a little bit. Gotta hurry cuz I have a crazy night at work tonight and I need to get ready.

Hope you all enjoy this day!!

Just tacked on a 25 min (plus CD) interval run on the TM. 2.5% incline, travelled 2.1 miles. Did 2 min running, 1 min walk, 3 min run, 2 min walk pattern then finished with a 4 min run. Rocked out to my playlist on my Ipod. I feel FANTASTIC!!!

I finished my workout. I think the HR monitors are more stressful than anything else. This one beeps during lower zone and beeps fast during high zone and quits beeping during medium with whatever I have it set for. I stay in low a lot:0 I worked out 2 hrs and 5 minutes (this does include Tracey's Pilates, abs, yoga and stretch 30 minutes. and burned 564 calories. My HR drops quickly when I slow down. Anyway I did Kelly Coffey Cardio Kick Step Box repeating the floor cardio, then I did Amy Bento's Power ups 2 x from her Step challenge 2 workout(this is where I hit my high end ) then I did Kelly's abs holding 3 dumbbells bells, Slow Motion Abs 50# barbell 10 and 8#, and finished with Tracey's parts premix pilates, abs, yoga, and stretch. I am wondering if I do the own zone test if it will make a difference at least on the beeping. That really does annoy me. I am really pushing extra hard to try to get that thing to stop beeping and then my calorie burn is not so good. It is really aggravating me. I was complaining to dh because I had to pause the monitor and my HR drops immediately. He said that should not be a bad thing.

BTW, I think the HR monitor is taking the fun out of the workout. I feel irritable about the whole thing :? I prefer hopping around and enjoying myself and knowing that I am doing something good for myself.
And DH is worried that I am going to go overboard on the whole thing.

Diane Sue - I'm sorry you're having HR monitor issues. It's like the whole bike computer thing too. If I am not averaging a certain speed and my HR isn't high enough, I don't feel like I'm getting a good workout. But we all work out hard and we also should enjoy our workouts and we are doing healthy things for our bodies. I know I don't enjoy it when I'm out there dying all the time (I start to really dread cycling by the end of the season) and by the sounds of it, you're not enjoying keeping such a close watch on every beep. Your DH and my DH sound pretty much the same on the issue. :) I guess we should relax a little.

And look at Meg - she feels FANTASTIC!!! Way to go Meg! :) Congrats on the new BF, by the way. You two make a cute couple. You deserve much happiness after all you've been through.

Diane Sue - I totally understand the HRM thing! Until I got used to mine, it made me nuts, but I can't say enough good about my latest model. My old model took long to get a reading and half the time, I couldn't get my fingers adjusted correctly. The new model is far superior, not only with finger placement and speed of taking your heart rate but with the durability of the battery lasting. I'm really used to pausing for a brief moment to get my HR and you get used to it....so it's not really as bad as people around here think they are. I suppose if you were totally used to wearing a chest strap and never having to get a reading from your watch, with your fingers, it might be an adjustment.....but I'm really used to it and I believe that as long as I catch my HR at the peaks and lows of my workouts....as well as midrange....I'll get a pretty accurate reading. It's not like I'm basing everything on the number I get! I am totally dependent on mine now. I really need it to check my intensity. I need to see what percentage I've got my HR at so I can vary it accordingly and the HRM is a perfect tool for that. I think you're next one should defintely be the Mio Ultimate since it has the option of wearing the chest strap or not. I love my Mio Drive........hate to be repeating myself! It also has one bonus feature that I sort of got used to .....it has a Goal Alarm and everytime you burn 3500 calories (enough to shed a pound), it flashes GOAL and then you can reset it. They tell you that the goal is to burn 3500 per week. Mine doesn't beep at all. That would drive me crazy.

I've spent most of my day reading and printing Turbulunce Training workouts. There are TONS of options and bonuses that came with this. I'll have a heck of a time trying to figure out which one to try first. These ebooks are too stressful for me. I much prefer a hardcover book!

Lora and Suz, I think I have some OCD. This monitor may not be so good. I will try it again next week. I think I will try some more next week and if I feel like it it still driving me nuts I will go get some more clothing or something.

Lora, do you have to put your fingers on all of the Mio monitors to get a reading??
