Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Saturday March 29

Cathlete
MOrning Maniacs -

This morning I should have taken a rest day....but I ordered Rockin' Body from Beachbody and they just came yesterday -- so I did Sean T's Rockin Body - Sean's Dance Party workout. I followed the low impact modifier cuz I didn't want any impact today since it's supposed to be a rest day. I was surprised at how high my HR got - 150's....so you can bet I'll be using this for low impact more often. It was fun too and had one of my favorite Madonna songs in it...Holiday! Time flew by and I burned 372 calories in 45". I'm sure this would even be more intense if I would have done the jumps, etc.

I liked this more than Hip Hop Abs so far. I was VERY hesitant on buying these cuz they were so expensive and I wasn't sure how intense they'd be or what they would be like....but so far, I'm happy with them. They came with 1 pound wrist weights to add for intensity. I didn't use them today since I was supposed to do an easier workout.

I also did Yoga Core Cross Train Restorative yoga segment with Rodney Yee 30" (a bit too restorative for my taste) and the Foam Roller Massage segment off of the Fitness Fix DVD --ouch....my outer thighs, glutes, inner thighs and entire shoulder, neck and mid back regions are severely tight with the upper body being severely spasmed. I really should get on the roller more often.

Have great workouts or rest days everyone.

I ORDERED MY LEG PRESS MACHINE YESTERDAY!!!!

Hope it gets here soon!!

Today starts my new rotation. I know I'm going to like it because it incorporates a lot of exercises I love to do. Today was Chest & Tri's and I know I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Did kind of a pyramid type workout and I think it went quite well.

1:30 rest between each set

CHEST
Incline Barbell Press:
65# - 15/15 (warmup)
105# - 7/7
100# - 8
***Felt good but my right shoulder was a bit tight. Felt weird.

Flat Barbell Press:
115# - 6
105# - 7
100# - 8/8
***115# was tough. Wow, I could not believe how that felt. Not sure why this rotation calls for the flat bench after the incline. I'm sure I would have been stronger doing these first.

Weighted Pushups
20# - 9/9/8/8
***This was interesting. Used my new Perfect Pushup things so I got a huge range of motion thing going. I wore my 10# vest and put a 10# plate underneath it. LOL! Worked quite well.

TRICEPS
Close-Grip Bench Press:
65#- 12 (warmup)
95# - 6
90# - 7/6
85# - 8
***First set at 95# was sloppy. Grip was bad and I just did not do them right. Probably had too heavy of a weight. When I went to 90# it felt a lot better.

Skull Crushers:
60# - 6/6
55# - 8
***Great exercise, I love this one!!!

ABS
Cardio & Weights Ab Work
***Haven't done ab work in over two weeks. This was tough.

That is all... I was wiped after this workout.

Hope you all have a great weekend and workouts! Tomorrow is my planned rest day. I want to keep Sunday's as my rest day.

Sandy - When I do leg presses (which I will) just do the leg presses like Cathe does using the mini-step w/5 risers. Should be about the same thing. Well, kind of! LOL!

Char - You got mail.

Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I'm still training for cycling season. Still keeping the weight the same (eta: meaning my body weight :p). I'm also now planning to run the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day which is a 10k, and since I don't run much b/c of the bursitis in my hip, this should be interesting. But my DH is going to run it with a friend of his from the FBI Academy who is flying in, and being a 20 year running veteran, I CERTAINLY can not sit on the sidelines and cheer him on! So I will do some training for that, but not so much that I will be too injured by the time the run gets here. I'm actually really excited. I don't expect to break any records, but just plan to have fun.

Diane Sue - Happy anniversary to you and Bill! Wow - 35 years!

Debbie - Happy belated birthday!!! Love the leg press! Your DH is definitely a keeper!

Lora - I just wanted to point out one positive about your job - I know that you were always so worried that they didn't think you were doing a good job and that they were going to get rid of you. Well, I guess that definitely wasn't the case. So congratulations on getting hired permanently. I am sorry that they are screwing with you on the salary though. That is a shame. Baby steps though. Hopefully next you can negotiate a better salary for yourself.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I'm off to ride in the basement. It's been SUPER windy here lately so getting outside to ride - HA!

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Off to do Debbie's rotation! Gained 1/2 pound. My hubby is teasing me and laughing saying I will have to bike 2000 miles now. lol

In the meantime, he continues to lose weight. I continue to do nothing. Pretty soon I will weigh more then him. LMAO!

Anyhow, now that I got all that off my chest, I am really ready to get going.

Debbie,

I am so excited for you with the new weight equipment and stuff. You deserve it. Great job on your workout. Your benching is something else!

Lora,

Was thinking and wondering if the Rockin' Body was decent. I wanted to order that as I love to dance. So was it worth it to you, getting it?

Suz,

Sounds like you have a plan and just enjoying yourself. Glad to hear it.

Good morning ladies - how is everyone?

Debbie - excellent workout. Should I stick with this 8 week rotation you sent me or start the 10 lb one on Monday? The problem with the 8
week is I am going on vacation April 30th - for 8 fun filled days to the Florida Keys to I will only be doing fun cardio during the vacation (snorkeling, swimming, etc.)

Today, I did the week 1 day 5 today of the 8 week rotation and here is how I did

Chest
Decline Flyes 2 sets 15 reps 15 lb dumbells
This was hard doing the decline

Back
Underhand Barbell Rows 2 sets 15 reps 15/15 50 lb barbell
this was hard too - I guess the whole thing was hard so I will quit adding that!

Quads
Leg Extensions 2 sets 15 reps Bow Flex with 80 (40 on each side)

Shoulders
Lateral Raise 2 sets 15 reps 15 lb dumbells

Triceps
Skull Crushers 2 sets 15 reps 26 lb barbell

Did hanging ab work again. Seems to be working.

have a great day and weekend everyone!

I finished my workout. DS came in with grandson during workout so I stopped to visit a little while. I did Amy Bento's in the Ring stopping at the c/down and did the interval premix which adds 16 min to the cardio and finished the c/d and stretch.I used a 10# med ball for this because my 8 has a handle on it and I did not want to take it off. I then did her Hi/Lo knockout ab segment using 10# dumbbells(I almost think that was to heavy. For total body weights I did Drill Max TOtal body premix skipping the w/up and stretch and then did Tracey Staehle's Glute Camp standing leg work and strtch. This made a nice total body workout length of 61 min with the stretch.
I will come back and read what everyone is up to after I shower:D

Debbie, I bet you will really enjoy your leg press machine:D I don't think I have much room for anything else in my workout room.

Ally, I see you are using a Bowflex. I love my Bowflex. I am doing Slow and Heavy next week and will use it on the squats so I can go heavier:)

Suz, so good to have you check in. It sounds like you have a lot to workout for:) I bet you will have fun joining in. I still have not purchased that new sewing machine but still plan on it. I made my dogs new beds last week. They love them:D

Charlotte, 1/2 pound one way or the other would not bother me at all. I am sure you are doing great and look as great as ever.

Lora, did you get a new workout that uses the foam roller?? I keep looking for more that are more myofascial massage type of moves. They really do loosen up the tightness in the muscles.

Just got my In the Ring DVD and have it in previewing right now. It sure doesn't look that low impact to me! Maybe that's the Amy version of low impact?

Diane Sue - no....not a new DVD. I use the Fitness Fix DVDs I have that have a 15 minute Foam Roller Massage on them. I got them at Amazon.com.

Toasty - the Rockin' Body set is quite expensive and you get workouts that are done with weights and dance too.....so I'm not sure you'd like the entire set. I'll let you know what I think after I do more. The dance moves are fun and easy to catch on to. Sean T is an egomaniac....but he's passionate about what he does and really gets into it...but he loves to show off too! I think you would like them if you like to dance. It's the most intense dance workouts I"ve done and I have lots of them.

We went to see the movie 21 today. EXCELLENT freakin' movie with a great ending! We both loved it and the theatre was packed too!

Lora, Amy's In the Ring is not to bad on impact. There are those jacks and jump kicks. She does have someone doing modifiers throughout. I know someone said something about her using space and she actually does have risers set out but around all of the participants. I made sure and put down my foam mats to workout on.

edited to say I think with putting a lot into the punches and kicks and the intervals this is a good workout. I like it myself.

Diane Sue - That will be fun when you get your new machine. :) I bet your dogs love their new beds. I need to make some new ones for my dogs. They sure love their dog beds! There is another place that I don't think I told you about where sewers review ALL kinds of machines - it's www.patternreview.com.

OK - I hope you see this Diane Sue - but which bow flex do you have? Do you have to attach that bar to it? I have not done that yet. I may try it tonight.
