Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Saturday Aug 18

Morning Maniacs -

I've been trying to make my Saturdays a recovery day or rest day since my foot has been broken but with the family picnic going on today, I thought I should do a bit of aerobics. I did Gilad's Elite Forces workout on the Rebounder with my boot on. It's sort of a kickbox workout but he throws in some strength moves and combat moves at the end. Since those slowed my HR down too much, I just jogged and did my own thing on the Rebounder for the last 10-15 minutes. I listened to my own music, Saliva, Survival of the Sickest. Workout was 52 minutes and I burned 338 calories ....keeping my HR in the 70-80% range....nothing too hard. I finished with Amy Bento's 10 Minute Solution stretch with band and then I did Yoga for Health - Headache Session 45".

Deb - I think you might like some of Saliva's music also. Didn't you say you had some of their music? Some of the better songs on Survival of the Sickest (which someone told me I'd like when we were standing in line at the Buckcherry concert talking about music cuz I said I liked the heavier stuff by them and not the ballad's) were the title track - Survival of the Sickest, One Night Only, Carry On, and F* All Y'All. If you wanted a few more kick butt workout songs for your Ipod....maybe you can download those. Just thought I'd share. I don't like it quite as much as Papa Roach...but it's pretty good.

Suz - thanks for the link of the shorts. They are really cute, but how do they help with irritation down there? They don't look padded. What's good about them? Sorry if I sound stupid.....I"m just not knowledgeable about biking shorts. thanks.

Have a great rest day or workout. I've got to get ready for that family picnic.........which I'm not really happy about!

Good morning!

I woke up at 2am with ANOTHER stinkin' migraine. What the heck is up? Good thing I see my neurologist this Friday. That Topamax was working so great. It seems that after a really hard, longer ride I'm getting them. I took Imitrex and it's 95% gone thank goodness.

Today is a rest day. I'm going to go try to find a black skirt that actually fits for this new top I bought for the funeral today. I've been to almost every store in town.

Lora - Those shorts are padded. That's what it means when it says "Quick-drying chamois provides comfort in sensitive areas and dries rapidly to keep you feeling your best." The chamois is the padding. You don't sound stupid at all. You're just new to the world of biking shorts. :)

Dallys - What kind of camera did you end up getting to scare Carma with? :p Do you like it?

Diane Sue - Yeah, duh, I guess I could measure them that way if I could pull them together enough - the chamois makes the crotch pretty wide.

I have DOMS everywhere. My calves are more sore every day from RS the other day since I haven't done step in so long. My chest is sore from PUB yesterday and so are my tris b/c I added on a bunch of extra tricep work after I was finished. Yay!!!

Have a great day everyone!

This mornings workout was shoulders. I still don't like working my shoulders. But I had a great workout nonetheless.

Shoulders
1:30 rest
Seated DB Military Press (warmup):
15's - 1 set/12 reps
20's - 1 set/10 reps

2 min. rest
Seated DB Military Press (working sets):
30's - 8/7/7½ (last week 3 sets/6 reps)
***Instead of upping the weights here, I added reps. Last rep of the last set was actual failure. Could not push up all the way.

Hammer Grip DB Front Raises:
17's - 1 set 8 reps
15's - 9/10 reps
***I used 17's for 3 sets/8 reps last week but this morning they felt really heavy and almost to a point of pain. So I sucked it up, swallowed my pride and lowered the weights. 15's felt awesome.

Lateral Raise:
22's - 3 sets/10 reps (same as last week)
***I love the way my shoulders show definition when I do this exercise. Very cool! :gsmile:

Seated Bent Over Lateral Raise:
22's - 10/12/12 reps (last week was 3 sets/10 reps)

1 min. rest
Standing External Rotations:
2 sets/20 reps (last week I did 2 sets/15 reps)

1:30 rest
Traps
Barbell Shrugs:
115# 3 sets/15 reps
***I bought a pair of wrist straps that helps you hold onto heavy weights and this really helped a lot. i was able to do this heavier and with more reps.

It's cold here this morning. I'm wearing a tank top and wondering if I should change?

Lora - I do LOVE Saliva, have tons of their music. Awesome group!

Randi - Nice road trip pics! Thanks for sharing!

Debbie - Another AWESOME workout! You are just doing some amazing things. Is competition around the corner or what girl?

Dallys - I see you caught my bold and colored post. :p That took me forever. How do you and Debbie do it all the time? It would take me 30 minutes to write a post! I'd have to have cheat notes to remember how to do it every time. You girls are too smart for me!

Suz - No, no competing for me. A friend of mine is in her first comp today and I really wish I could have gone to see her. She lives in NH. That's a ways away from me. I talked to her this morning and she sounded so calm and collected. I wish her well.

I did reach my goal this morning when I started my cutting phase back in the beginning of June. I'm now down to 124# with 15% body fat. I've strived for this all summer. My goal was 125# so I'm happy to see I'm below that right now. It won't last long, though.

Morning Maniacs! It's been raining on and off today. I've been doing yard work. My elbow is bothering me again (hurt trimming roses). It's alittle different than last time. Instead of tennis elbow, I think I have golfers elbow. (huge freakin'eyeroll here!) Good news though, I did lose another lb.! Have a few more to go and then I'll be happy.

Suz- Yeah, I busted you on that other thread, so I know that you can do it.:p I have the bolds and italics memorized, so that's easy...it takes more time for the fancy stuff. I love that kind of creative stuff though.:)
I ended up with the Canon 30D and the Canon 17-40L len$$$$. It's soooo cool! I can shoot Carma at a run and get great action shots (she's sooo bored with me...like, "Not again!")! I have alot to learn with it though. I'm a newbie camera person. I eventually would like to do Pet photography. I have all the clientelle you know.;)

Debbie- You are doing great! Whatever system you are doing, it's working for you. That's always a great feeling. It's nice to be a titch under goal as you have alittle leeway.:)

Lora-That salad I made yesterday was from my own fridge.:) I'll be having another one shortly.:9

Anne- I hope you get that property! You'll love having your own building! I want my DH to build me a new shop. I need a bigger space with more windows. We have plenty of property to do it. Plus, I worry with my older customers going up and down the stairs.

Randi-You are the energizer bunny! No rest for you!:p

Lisa- enjoy your workout and mowing.:)

Char You are done with P90X, right? Did you feel you got any results even though you did a shorter version?

Meg and anyone else I missed Hi to ya!

Well, off to feel sorry for myself with my bum elbow.

I did my workout late today. I have my grandchildren here as their mother went to a funeral. I started with Low Impact Circuit stopping at the abs, then did Butts and Guts bonus lower and then the abs, went back and did LIC abs and stretch. My grandson wanted to run on the treadmill so I did not want to leave him unsupervised so I did Sweatfest lower premix and stretch:)

Debbie - Congrats on suprassing your goals!!! Why no competing? You know we all keep bugging you!

Dallys - My DH said, "RIGHT ON" about your camera and lens. He was quite impressed that you took such a big leap. :) Our dogs are quite bored with him as well. You'll have to make up liability release forms for your customers so that you are free to shoot their animals whenever the mood moves you.

Diane Sue - That's cute about your grandson. :)

I got a picture of DH in his dress uniform today. It just so happens to have me in it - with a lovely piece of hair across my forehead. Now if a woman would have taken that shot she would have told me. I told DH to try and Photoshop it out. But it was with my camera so he said it's not as easy. He is going to try - and he's not happy about it. I have no other pictures of him in that uniform so I was happy to get it. I made it my avatar for a bit.

Dallys - I'll have to post another pic for you that DH took out of his rear view mirror when we were starting in the procession. Let me go post it to my Picture Trail so it will work.

Thanks Diane Sue. I just think that piece of hair looks silly. Oh well. I'm happy to have the picture of DH all dressed up. I'm not sure I'll ever get another. Actually I hope not. The only other time I've seen him like that was at the other funeral a year ago when the motorcycle cop was killed. So hopefully this was the last time.
