Cathlete
Morning Maniacs-

Semi rest day for me. Off to do a bit of cardio and some stretching or yoga. Be back later.

Ended up doing Self's Dance Your Way Slim with Kimberly Spreen (24") followed by Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany Chen - Kicker Section 2. Total cardio was 47" and I burned 307 calories. Part 2 was even more fun than part 1. It had dog crawls in it and lots of combos. Liked it. Great music. I also did the Lunar Segment from Yoga Radiance 25". My legs are feeling a bit worked from this week's workouts.

Off to soak in the tub and we're going to the movie's later. I also have to go over my Mom's and use her computer to apply for a job later.

Have great workouts or rest days.

ETA: Deb - do you have SoapNet? I want to get it soooo bad.....Did you see the new General Hospital Night Shift original series coming to Soap Net? My DH says we can't get it until I get a job!! Darn!! You'll have to let me know how it is.

Hi Randi - No, I don't usually take rest days.....just semi- ones where I do lite cardio and stretching or yoga. I won't take one at all for the next month though cuz when we go to Vegas on August 3rd....I'll be having 5 days of just walking around Vegas and eating and gambling! I find I feel lazy if I take a total rest day, but I will take them on rare occasions.

Good morning peeps!

This morning I'm supposed to do the cycling club group ride if it's not windy. BUT...you know this town. It's getting windy already. I'm keeping an eye on it. It will either be group ride (with DH) or ride with DH.

Lora - Your rest days crack me up.

Randi - Enjoy your rest day!

This starts Week 5 of the Push/Pull/Angular rotation I'm doing. I've switched up the exercises for the next 4 weeks. Today was Push with 2 minutes rest between each set:

Chest
Incline Barbell Bench Press: 85# 1 set/10 reps (this was so easy I ended up making it my warmup set)
Incline Barbell Bench Press: 95# - 3 sets/6 reps
Dumbbell Bench Press: 40's - 3 sets/8 reps
Decline Pushups w/6# ankle weights strapped on my chest: 3 sets/15 reps (I looked like Rambo! LMAO)
***Notes: I'm trying to do more for my upper chest, decline pushups really do the trick.

Legs
Squats: 100# - 3 sets/6 reps w/full ROM
Lunges w/back leg elevated (what are these called?): 65# - 3 sets/8 reps
Step Ups (5 risers): 65# - 3 sets/10 reps

Shoulders
Arnold Press: 27's - 3 sets/6 reps
Barbell Press: 55# - 3 sets/8 reps
***Notes: Was suppose to do 4 sets each but I feel that is way too much. Especially working chest on the same day

Triceps
Skull Crushers: 50# - 3 sets/8 reps
Weighted Dips: 75# - 3 sets/10 reps

Workout took 1 hr. 35 min.! Getting ready to go to a 50th wedding anniversary party for my in-laws. Big time cheat day!

Hope you all have a great weekend and workouts!

Lora - Yes I get Soapnet but it comes in really bad. I plan on taping Night Shift. It's only on Thursday's at 11 p.m. It looks really good. Are all those people leaving GH? I heard Jason was leaving. And if he isn't on steroids I don't know who is. His face has gotten so puffy and he has built a lot of muscle mass in a short period of time. Sad to see that.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Got some good DOMS in my glutes. Added on ATG squats before P90X leg/back workout. Did squats with 110# 8x's and dropped to 80# as my butt had to come close to touching floor. Work was very busy last night. One lady came in with her family and they all ordered ice cream. Her hubby asked her what she wanted..she sounded like me..."that would make me throw up". lol. Tonight is gonna be worse. Parade in town. Parents leaving today.

I am not feeling well today with Aunt Flo so not sure I feel like kickboxing.

I called my cycling partner to tell her I wasn't going to do the group ride b/c of the wind and she talked me into it. So I talked DH into it. There's the "A" group and then there's the "A++" group (I'm making that up really) that blows everybody away. My DH was waaay up there with them! I was so proud. :) This is the guy who keeps telling me he's not in good cycling shape b/c he's only been on his bike about 6 times this year (his cardio has been running since he was gone for those 10 weeks).

We had it worked out so that if I wanted to go longer today DH would just ride home and I would stay with the group and go back to the bike shop and take our vehicle home. Well...b/c of our route, that didn't work. We rode way south and we live way north. DH wanted to turn back after an hour so that he wasn't out for more than 2 hours so I had to turn back too. But that was okay b/c I was getting kind of tired since it was such a fast ride. I'm not sure why I ran out of steam so early today. DH says I need to eat more protein b/c I'm doing so much cardio. And I did lose another pound. Anyway, we did 30 miles and my girlfriend just called me and she did 38. So not too bad.

I just had a Myoplex and off to shower now! It's in the 90's!!!

I just lifted legs. The great debate. You know how I said I wasn't going to during cycling season and now look at me. My girlfriend said why ruin a good thing that I had going but DH is pretty sure that my success has more to do with the weight loss and the mucho additional cardio I did while he was away than anything and lifting legs to make them stronger will only help, as long as I only do it maybe once a week or so. It felt really good to lift. They're fried though after that ride this morning and now this. Definitely getting in the hot tub with a beer later this evening!

Char - I hope you feel better.

Debbie - I was looking at your pics again and you sure look awesome!

Suz - you lifted legs and rode in 90 degree weather??? What a woman!!

Toasty - hope you feel better. Glad you're enjoying your job.

Deb - let me know what you think of GH. I thought Jason looked different, but I didn't pinpoint it like you. I thought it was cuz his hair was different and I thought he was always pretty muscular. I'll have to take a closer look. If all those peeps are leaving, I'm gonna have to talk the DH into getting Soapnet somehow.

I applied for a full-time Sales Associate position at my fave store in the Mall...The Buckle. They sent me an email saying to call the store manager to set up an interview. I called and she's going on vacation, so I'm supposed to contact her next Saturday to set up a time. I'm excited and hoping to change careers here. Maybe I'll really end up liking it....who knows? No other medical options or secretarial options are opening up so it's time to change direction.

Hey Lora - I've heard that if you work at The Buckle you have to wear their clothes. So...there's justification to your DH that you will have to buy new clothes if you get a job there. :) Good luck!

Suz - I was wondering about that. I have about 7 Tee's and 3 pair of jeans from there........that's it. I doubt the DH will agree to let me buy anything......so I guess they'll get sick of seeing me in the same 7 shirts all year! (however, ever since the store opened in our Mall, that's the only place I buy my clothes from!!)

ETA: I just went upstairs and counted. 9 tee's, 6 hoodies and 3 pairs of jeans. I wonder if the DH would let me buy anything new with the 40% discount you get?? but...I'm getting ahead of myself.....as I don't have the job yet!

Hey Maniacs! Went up in the canyon for a mt. bike ride with Dh. It was a toughie and my legs feel like rubber. We added 2.5 miles extra to our ususal route. Made a huge difference. I was glad to see a few other women mt. bikers up there. I rarely see women on mt. bikes.

Lora- I hope you get that job. I'm sure you'd love it.

Toasty- Great job on the legs! What are ATG squats? Have fun at work!

Debbie-Lunges w/back leg elevated are called Bulgarian Split Squats. They are tough! Great workout by the way. You are the queen of weight on chest! Enjoy your Cheat day!:9

Suz- Great bike ride! Don'tcha just hate men and how they can get in shape and improve so danged fast? It's not fair! Can't believe you lost another lb.:p It's in the high 90's here today. Have fun in the hot tub and enjoy that beer!

Randi- Enjoy your rest day.:)

Good evening, I hope you all had a wonderful 4th:) We had rain and mud but still had some time to roam around the campgrounds. We bought our puppy Puddle home with us. Mudd is still with our son and family. They all took out the jet boat and are having a great time. We left a little early. If we left tomorrow we would be leaving with everyone else. There was some strange guys at our campground that asked how old Puddle was. My son said they asked about Mudd as well and wanted to know if she was a chocolate lab. Then yesterday when I was walking Puddle one came out with a camera and wanted to take a picture of "my baby" :O I thought that was weird and said no. Kind of creeped me out. Anyway today I did Kimberly Spreen's KickBox Bootcamp, then Tracey's Sweatfest Sculpt adding a little more weight to it, and finished with Rainbeau Mars Yoga Dawn minus the talking at the beginning and the resting stuff at the end. My mind was way to busy. This is my recovery week. Sprayed our yard and got everything put away. Now I am working on my scrapbook:) Next week I am hoping to get really strict on my diet and up the lower body weights. I need to increase my lower body size without adding fat deposits. Can't keep my pants up anymore and my weight is still the same. My muscle must be going to my upper body. I have work to do:) What would life be without goals:) My shoulders are way wider than my hips.

Charlotte, did your family leave yet? I am sure you have enjoyed their visit.

Lora, I am sure you will love the Vegas trip.

Suz, enjoying that new bike I see:)

Dallys, I see you are biking as well. I think today was one of the few days we have had this summer that was good for taking the bike out. It got over 90 degrees though. Very Humid.

Randi, good job with the workouts.

Debbie, doing great as usual. Do you have a BF goal? You may have said but I may have missed it.

Char - Hope you are feeling better. Aunt Flo is a biotch!!!

Suz - Sounds like you and your dh had a great time! That is awesome. I wish my dh would do stuff like that with me. :( Thanks about my pics!

Lora - I will definitely let you know. I'm so sick of GH. I'm four days behind and don't even give a crap!!!

Randi - thanks for that! I could not think of that name to save my life!

Diane Sue - What will you be doing for your recovery week? My BF goal is 15%.

Deb - how do you test your body fat? I need to have an intervention from a nutritionist to help me eat better since I'm always hungry. Too bad I can't count on my sister who is in that field.

Anyone on this thread have any friends that wear Navy Scrubs to work? They wouldn't take mine back at the store cuz they were laundered and I only wore 1 set one time. I would sell at a good deal. Just thought I'd put it out there. They are xtra small pants and small scrub tops with 2 medium warmup jasckets (snap).

I can't sleep........too much on my mind nd I need to be up early tomorrow...lots to do.

Diane Sue - glad you're back. I wish I had the problem of my pants falling down. I need you to come visit and coach me with my eating. I know I try to do good.....but I eat too often, as I get famished and can't go any longer. It must be cuz I'm not eating enough protein......but it even happes when I eat my Kashi high protein.....I'm still hungry.

Better try to fall asleep again............wish my mind would stop going a million miles a minute!

Debbie, this has been my recovery week. I had 3 days off after doing Pyramid upper and lower. Today was a bootcamp Kickbox workout with low weight(really low for me) no extra cardio and Tracy Staehle's Sculpt Sweatfest which is basically functional fitness with very little weight. I finished with Yoga. Tomorrow I think I will do cardio but not something really intense. Maybe a walk Jog on the treadmill. I will add abs and a stretch tape. I like to do stretching/yoga on recovery.
