today I did an awesome Cardio Coach mix - actually, a Candace mix. It is a workout I made up mixed with Run Fit and CC #6 mixed together. Had a good workout and went over 4 miles which is rare for me.

Workout was 62 minutes, burned 404 calories (TM said 575), traveled 4.09 miles and went 8223 steps.

So at one point my HR got up to 146 bpm which is unusual to see. From then on it stayed at around 121. WTF? I worked hard with this workout and was breathless many times during it. How can my HR just be at 121?? It said the average HR I had was 111. OMG. THEN, when my HR was way up there my Fitbit wasn't registering anything, it showed 000. Frustrating.

I got my hanging sleeves yesterday and did that ab routine I like so well. It was HARD doing hanging leg raises, next time I'm going to try to do it against my door. I was swinging like crazy and it was hard to not swing. I ended up putting my feet down on my step to stop the swinging.

So the ab workout is this:

15 Hanging leg raises
right to
15 Bench V-Ups
right to
15 Bench Reverse Curls (where you bring your whole body up and over your head, then you release and let your legs go staight in front of you.)

You do this and then do it with 12 reps each and then with 10 reps each.

Since it's been a long time since I've done this workout and remember how hard it was, I started out with 12 reps, followed by 10 reps, followed by 8 reps. The hanging raises were the hardest, I will definitely feel it tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great workout today!!!

Diane Sue - I tried Shakeology once and did not like it. I really like the Raw Protein I get from the Vitamin Shoppe. It's weird because when you go to the VS to guy it, the stuff is like $46 but if you get it on their website it's only $29. weird?

Roselyn - Nice workout!! I like seeing your weights posted, nice going.

Jolie - You had a nice workout as well!! Good going!!! I know what you mean about minimal cardio with BB. I'm still getting two days of cardio in and I'm happy about that.

WE ROCK!!

Today I did Cardio first and weights last. I like this because I feel very warmed up prior to lifting. I did Les Mils Combat 30 kickstart with 2 # gloves. Had an awesome workout, I was drenched at the end of it. Amazing because it tis only 30 minutes. Next I did Cathe's Muscle Meltdown Back and loved it. I decided I'm not going to do Body Beast and do whatever I feel like. I want more cardio and BB only allows for 2 days a week. This is a Giant Set with NO rest and you do three rounds. I went pretty heavy so I had a great workout.

1 arm row- 25# x 12, x 12, x 12 reps
Wide Grip Pull Downs- 50# x 12x x 12, x 12 reps
1 Arm Horizontal Row- 20# x 12, x 12, x 12 reps
Underhand Barbell Rows 50# x 12, x 12, x 12 reps
Deadlifts- 50# x 12, x 12, x 12 reps

(I will go heavier next time on a few exercises)

Workout was 55 minutes
Calories Burned 456
Heart rate 135 and max was 175

Everyone had great workouts!!! I am so proud of us!

Debbie, I love the ab workout you did today! Hanging leg raises are very tuff, good for you!

Sorry I was short this morning. I was at the pool with my grandchildren. There was not much time to do anything else before I got them out the door. They were anxious to go. There were 3 boys there today. A lot of the time there is no one there. Eating was not good today. I had so much running around and doing things. I had one real meal because my husband took me out for dinner. The other two don't count :p peanut butter with honey and protein powder and later an ice cream sundae with my grandson made at home with low fat ice cream and salted caramel and chocolate topping. So much for my resolve. Between the heat and actually being really hungry I just did not care.

Debbie, nice work. I always find it harder to keep from swinging without some sort of support doing knee ups. I liked doing the knee ups holding a med ball between my knees. I had a Cory Everson book once where she did the bench leg raises up and back over the head. I think I got carried away because somehow I stressed my neck. That was years ago. Have you done the Chisel abs from Hammer and Chisel? I like how Autumn uses the bench. Nice work. The calorie burn is not too bad but I don't get the calorie burns. Yesterday I was surprised that my HR showed as 115 average doing Cathe's To the Max , I felt I was working much harder than that. Even though it was less Impact there was still a lot of jumping in it. There was some core work though so maybe that took the avg. down. It was better on Ripped with Hiit Low Impact. I guess Vitamin shop wants to make themselves some extra money. Do you have to pay shipping if you get it from the company? Sprouts sells the Raw Protein. It is pretty expensive there too. I think that I can get the Amazing Grass Protein and Greens for less on Amazon. It was 32.00. They also have a sport protein with greens and electrolytes. I liked the Peanut butter chocolate Protein and Greens better than the original Vanilla .

Jolie, I really have no idea what I want to do yet so I will probably do what I feel for awhile till I find what I think will work for me. I want to add in more trouble zone work and some more cardio. So, I will be thinking about it.

Roselyn, nice work. I always went light on the scap trap and really had thought about substituting something else.

Today I did Body Beast - Build: Shoulders. Had a great workout, I love this shoulder workout, it is tough. I skipped the ab work because of the ab work I did yesterday. Abs are really sore today.

Walked on my treadmill for about 2 miles. Low back is a bit tight because we had a huge tree limb fall in our yard yesterday and DH and I cut it and moved it. Tried to use my leg mostly but you know how that goes. Other than that, I feel great!!!

Diane Sue
- Glad you had fun with your grandkids!! I'm not much of a pool-goer, I get too bored. LOL!!! I have Cory Everson's book, I wonder where it is? She was my inspiration when I was doing more body building back in the day. I wonder what she's doing now? I often wonder what has become with the likes of them - Rachel McClish, Bev Francis, etc. They were true body builders. I look at magazines like Oxygen now and think, "Really?" Oxygen had a body builder (if you call her that) in last months issue with tattoos all over her. WTH??? That's just a sin in my book!! I'm old fashion and I don't believe in marking up your body. A little one here or there is fine for my taste, but not like this girl had. She was covered with them.

Roselyn - Nice job on the shoulder workout yesterday! You did some decent weights! I can't do that six-way exercise with more than 3 lbs. Those kill me.

Jolie - Excellent with your workouts yesterday!!! Very nice weights, there!!

Today I made my own version of Muscle Meltdown legs since Cathe does not have one for legs. I guess because she has leg routines in her ICE workouts so you don't need it. I did a Giant set with no rest in between. I did 3 rounds and each exercise I did 16 reps except for Squats I did more.

DB squats- 15# x 24, x 16, x 16 reps
Bent leg Deadlifts (STS Total Body Style) BB- 35#, x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Slide back lunge with disk Body Weight- x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Deadlifts BB- 55# x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Narrow stance squats DB- 15# x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Leg ext. 50# x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Leg curls- 20# x 16, x 16, x 16 reps
Plie squats DB- 12# x 16, x 16, x 16 reps

Total workout time was 40 minutes and I burned 340 calories.

Cardio was Gloved up and Ready, Cathe Live using 1 pound gloves. I only did the boxing segment because that was enough! Total workout time was 40 minutes and I burned 371 calories.
Total workout time was 1 hour and 20 minutes and a total of 701 calories burned! :) I went hard today because it is suppose to get to 100 degrees this weekend and I don't feel like working out hard when its that hot, so I wanted to get it in while I could.

Diane Sue, nice day at the pool yesterday! I am jealous. It would be so nice to sit and relax, or did the kids want you to swim with them all day? Still, nice and relaxing...

Debbie, great shoulder workout today! My favorite all time shoulder routine is Body Beast Bulk. I love it because he uses progressive sets and they are my fav. Since you do a lot of sets its hard to go heavy. I love that he uses the Time Under Tension method, that really builds the muscle. You are going to look so good when your done!!! Not that you don't already. I know your good with your eating so you will get some great results.

Roselyn, nice workout. It looks like you and Debbie are doing the same workout.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I am going to make some chicken tacos to reward myself on a job well done today. They are grilled and low calorie.

Today was another day that just left me with lots of unexpected things. My husband had my grandson come over to go with him to leave the car for window tinting so that slowed me a bit. Then I needed to run to the store for some things for our father's day get together and Beauty brands for a good sunscreen foundation. I am glad that I ate a bowl of some chicken chili I had made because I ended up going to pick up my grandson from his church because he was coming in from a mission trip and did not have a ride. Then I picked my husband dinner. That took up my whole day. I cooked chicken this morning in the crock pot for a new vegetable soup but still need to get it put together. I made myself a pattypan squash baked and stuffed with some bison with the seasoning from the bad ass bowl and awesome sauce on top. I did get my workout in though. Cardio Fix Extreme, 33 minutes, 127 avg./152 heart rate, 244 calories. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Hardcore, 11 minutes, 50 calories followed by Icy Core 2, 14 minutes, 52 calories. I usually use 10 & 8# for this and on the side clam I pick up a 5 and do it. I finished off with Ice Metablolic Meltdown Biceps, 15 minutes, 81 calories. Total time 73 minutes, 427 calories. Tomorrow my husband and I are going walking in the morning and I will try to get in Dirty Thirty when I get back.
Biceps Metabolic Meltdown 3 rounds 5 exercises giant set 12 reps each
bicep curls 17.5; 17.5; 17.5
hammer curls 17.5; 17.5' 17.5
preacher curl 15; 15; 15
incline hammer curl 15; 15; 15
concentration curl 17.5; 17.5; 17.5

Debbie, I don't know what happened to them. I used to follow Rachel McLish and Cory Everson a lot. Both were inspiring. I always felt that Bev Francis was a bit over tanned and bulky. Still she could come off leaner at times. I see women in Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness that I thought did not look much different than your just athletic female. But, they are just fitness magazines and not really bodybuilding magazines. I am not a real swimmer. I sat in the cool in the cabana with the ceiling fan looking at my cell phone and drinking a cold bottle of water. The children splashed and played for an hour. It was relaxing. I don't know where the geese and ducks were this time. You can usually see them in the water. I did get in near the end because they wanted me too and I got the shell match game that you dive for out of the deeper end. I just had to kick them where my grandson could dive under and get them. The 5 year old has his own built in pool and can swim pretty well but I don't let them go in the deeper water. My idea of fun in a pool is to lie on an air mattress floating device. I used to read that way and got a lot of books wet. I have noticed a lot more women with tons of tattoos. I do not care for them at all. I saw a pretty young woman in the grocery store with a baby and two small children and I swear half of her body was tattooed. It looks ridiculous to me. I really think that God gave us our body and if he wanted us to be covered in ink he would have just made us that way. I guess I am old fashioned too.

Jolie, I wondered why Cathe did not do a muscle meltdown for lower body. She has the upper body workout and still has muscle meltdowns. Maybe because she did the to the mat workout. Nice workout selection. I liked gloved up and ready. There are some interesting combinations on some of the live workouts. The nice thing is that we have our own gate key for the pool and it is right up the street. They keep it locked and it is never real busy. I could walk but I prefer taking my car with all of the floaties and my cold bag along with towel. Let alone walking up there in my swim clothes. Although I wore a t shirt to the pool.

Today I'm going to take a rest day and NOT feel guilty about it!:) I worked each body part and did numerous cardio workouts so I need a rest. This will be my 2nd day off this week but my body needs it. Also, I have to work at my kids school this weekend working the parking lot (selling parking tickets) to help pay for their football fees. I get a $100 to sit in a lounge chair for 4 hours and talk to nice people or I just read if its not busy. Between two boys, their sports fees will be over $10.000! Yikes... It was never like this when I was a kid. My boys do play in to top division in the US so I'm sure that's why.

I hope you have and incredible weekend! It is going to be hot here! It should his 122 degrees in Palm Springs where my parents live. :(

Today I did we took a slow walk. About 2 mph. for 26 minutes. I only got 65 calories out of it so it really did not count for much. I had a hard time getting my HR up today. I did Dirty Thirty Extreme, 32 minutes, 165 calories, HR 106 avg/ 128 max. I used 10's for most of it but used 3's and 5's for a couple of the light things that were hard on my shoulders. I then did Ice Bootcamp Circuit, 45 minutes, 114 avg/140 max HR. , 270 calories. Total time was 1 hr 43 minutes 499 calories. Minus the walk it was 77 minutes, 435. I made a chocolate pudding dessert for tomorrow and still need to make my rhubarb cobbler. I think I am going to make a small Paleo friendly cobbler as well.

Jolie, you deserve a break. You have hit the weights and cardio hard this week. Sports costs a lot of money. I cannot believe how much it is for my granddaughter for cheer. The camps and clothing etc.. A couple of thousand. When my daughter mentioned it I think my aw dropped to my feet. Then last year they had to come up with money to go to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. They didn't want her to go without one of them there so my daughter went. Someone donated to make sure all of the team could go but there was a lot of out of pocket. Now they are wanting to do it again this year. I think my son in law is going this time. The first time was a big deal because it was a once in a lifetime opportunity but now they are not too happy about it.

Today I did Muscle Meltdown Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps. I had a good workout and did the same weights that I used last Monday. Running late today so I will catch up on personals Monday. 110 degrees here today and my air conditioner went out on one side of my house, my bedroom! I'm not happy and I'm hot.

Rest day today. The family all came over and we had a good time. Tomorrow will be work out and house cleaning day. I got left with an awful lot of food and desserts. I was shoving as much of it as I could into the freezer.

Jolie, I feel for you on the air. Is there a way you can sleep in the part of the house with air? If it happened here we would have to move upstairs till it was fixed. I only have a twin sofa bed up there. I don't know where my husband would sleep. The cot? :p I really want to eventually make it where we have a guest room up there. We could not get the queen size sofa sleeper up the spiral stairs. We only had one air unit in our house a couple of years ago.

Today I wanted to do some kettlebell work. I started out with the warm up from P90X2 PAP lower, 15 minutes, 48 calories. I then did Kelly Coffey Strength and Stamina Lower Body Time Crunch with swings, 24 minutes, 150 calories, HR 117 avg./ 147 max. I then did Kelly's SLim Sculpting, lower and swings mix, 39 minutes, HR 125 avg/148 max, 280 calories. I added on Lauren Brooks ultimate body sculpt and conditioning with kettlebells vol. 3 lower workout segment 14 minutes, 81 calories. Since there was not a stretch segment listed I did the stretch from Amy Ross kettlebell Power 6 minutes. I added some stretches for the forearms because they get sore when I have not done kettlebells for awhile. Total workout was 1 hour 46 minutes and calories 574. I was digging through my workouts and got out my notebooks so I can look at some of the moves so I can see what I want to put together.. I won't do a kettlebell workout again this week until Friday or Saturday. I have my grandson 3 days this week and there is not kettlebell swinging with young children coming into the room. I have to chase the dog out.

Today I did Body Beast - Tempo: Chest & Tri's. Now usually I don't care for these slow count workouts but every once in a while I just need to do them. This one was tough and I felt it by the end. This one was tough but I had a great workout. Love the ab work in this one.

This is what I did:

CHEST
Dumbbell Chest Press:
12s/20/s/25s - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
Figure 4 Crunch: 10 reps

Dumbbell Incline Press: 15s/20/s/25s - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
Cricket Crunch: 10 reps

Incline Dumbbell Flye: 15s/20/s/25s - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
Tempo Planks: 10 reps (sort of did these, they were hard)

Dumbbell Chest Press: 12s/20/s/25s - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
Figure 4 Crunch: 10 reps

TRICEPS
Skull Crushers: 15#/20#/25# - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
EZ Bar Crunch: 10 reps

Kickbacks: 5#/8#/10# - 15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count
ss w/
Dips:
15/12/8 reps - 6/6 count; 3/6 count; 3/3 count (could not do these at the slow tempo so just did them at a normal pace)
Plank Twist-Twist: 10 reps (these were also very hard for me, I had to stop here and there during it)

I also walked on my treadmill for 2 miles.

Diane Sue - I agree, Bev was a bit too much, but she was still one of my idols. Cory was the biggest one for me, though. Nice job with your workouts this weekend and today!!!

Jolie - Good job on the rest day with no guilt!!! You go!!!

Roselyn - Hope you are having good workouts!!

Today I did Muscle Meltdown Chest. I had an ok workout. I am tired from poor sleep, its too damn hot! I also stood in the sun for two days straight and I am drained. This workout is a Giant set, with no rests. Each set is 12 reps so you have to go a tad lighter to keep up with the pace and not rest time. I completed 3 rounds.

Pushups x 12 reps
Chest press DB's- 25# x 12 reps
Chest flies DB's- 20# x 12 reps
Incline Chest press DB's- 25# x 12 reps
Incline Chest flies DB's- 25# x 12 reps

Repeat 2 more times.

Diane Sue, Nice workout today. I am glad you had a nice time with your family yesterday.

I hope you all have good workouts today and I will check in later to see what you did!

112 degrees today

Today was Insanity Max 30 Cardio Sweat, yesterday I did Build Back and Bis, Saturday was cardio (Insanity 30 ) Tomorrow will be shoulders and we leave Wed-Sun to go to Branson, MO so I will be getting up and walking, there are some good hills in the Ozarks. So no lifting for awhile:( but I need to enjoy my family, we are picking up my son in Springfield, MO he is there for summer classes and my daughter and her boyfriend are going too. We have not done a vacation with our kids in about 6 years should be interesting now that we are all adults!!

Roselyn, I know you will enjoy the time with the family. You will probably come back feeling stronger after the break.

Jolie, the heat is one thing that can zap all of the energy out of a person and it takes awhile to get it back. So is your air still not working?

Debbie, nice job on the weights and getting a 2 mile walk in too. I was curious about Cory Everson and Rachel Mclish. They both have facebook pages. A lot of old pictures from competitions etc.. Both are still in great shape and look young. I also watched an interview with Cory on youtube that was current.

Today I decided to work my legs because it's been forever since I've done a leg workout. My knees have been ok lately so I thought I'd try it. I did Body Beast - Build: Legs. Went REALLY light with the weights, didn't want to chance anything. Had a great workout none the less.

LEGS

Single Set
Sumo Squat (Plies):
12#/15#/20#/15# - 15/12/8/8 reps (last two sets were drop sets)

Super Set
Alternating Lunge:
8s/10s/12s - 15/12/8 reps
ss w/
Step-Up to Reverse Lunge: 8s/10s/12s - 15/12/8 reps

Giant Set
Parallel Squat:
10s/12s/15s - 15/12/8 reps
Bulgarian Squat: 5s/10s/12s - 15/12/8 reps
Sagi EZ Bar Deads: 10#/15#/20# - 10/12/8 reps
(On the deads - it's funny, they use no weights at all, just the EZ bar. They add weight for the last two sets. I could go way heavier on this one, and next time I will. Love this exercise)

Giant Set
Single Calf Raise:
10# - 2 sets/30 seconds
Seated Calf Raise: 15s & 20s - 2 sets/30 seconds (I do not feel these, stupid exercise)
ABS
Ins and Outs:
2 sets/30 seconds

Then I walked on my treadmill for 2 miles on a 4% incline. Legs are worked very well. Stretched out really good afterwards.

Diane Sue - I'm not on FB but that's cool. I know Cory had a website but I haven't been to it in a long time so I don't know if it's there anymore, I'll have to check. I Tweet, I wonder if she's on Twitter? I'll have to check. I always remember that she will eat a Snickers bar every day, even during competition. She said nothing could make her stop eating those. LOL!!

Roselyn - Hope you have a great time with your family! I'm sure you will!!

Jolie - It's been hot here, too, but not like where you are. We hit 92 yesterday but the humidity is so high you can hardly breath outside. Today its supposed to be cooler.
