I ended up doing my first Book Circuit from Jillian's First Book. I did 3 sets of 15 reps in each circuit:
Circuit 1 - Pushups & Squats with 40 lbs
Circuit 2 - DB Chest Flyes with 17 lb DBs & Sumo Squats with 25 lbs
Circuit 3 - Bench Dips & Leg Extensions (used my Ambiance door attachment and green & red bands doubled up with the ankle straps sitting in a chair - but it still wasn't enough resistance....must think about alternatives)
Circuit 4 - Lateral Raises with 10 lb DBs - dropped to 8's last few reps - 1 minute of jumping jacks and basic ab crunches with 12 lb DB
Circuit 5 - Tricep extensions with 10 lbs DBs - 1 min jump rope with 3 pound weights in hand and scissors with ankle weights (don't laugh at my puny weights.....I do the best I can with my injury). that part took 50 minutes and then I added on 20 min beginner workout from Kung Fu Kickboxing. Total workout was 1 hour 24" and I burned 478 calories. (I plan on adding 15 minutes of Cardio to each circuit like Jillian suggests in her second book...and you can bet the Kung Fu one will be in heavy rotation).
Sorry this is long -- just ignore the couple paragraphs about the Kickboxing workout if not interested)
I can't say enough good stuff about Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany and Max Chen (Tiffany Leads and she rocks -- love her). For those interested: these 2 are martial arts champions and the workout incoroporates Shan Shou Boxing style with wrestling and kicking techniques that build strenght, speed, agility, endurance and reflexes of a fighter.....you'll get a heart-pumping workout that will tone your shoulders, arms abs, glutes and legs. Feel the burn and see results fast (from the back of the DVD). Has a basic routing 20", Kicker - 20" and Killer 20" with a separate stretch and warm up segment. (Example of some moves - straight punches swithcing stances (basic stuff), you do these neck exercises to strenghten the neck muscles (good for my injury - and they say they do it so they are able to take shots to the head), but my favorite move is fast feet and then you drop into a burpee and then come up and scissor your feet a few reps and then go back into fast feet and keep repeating, front kicks (jumping), knee and twist to side on balls of feet, etc.
Tiffany is very impressive. Her and her brother were trained by thier father who was a Grandmaster fighter and Tiffany has over 40 gold medals to her credit in martial arts competitions. Her brother is equally talented. They teach at their Father's studio in NYC. I'm going to Google them, as I need to write and tell them how much I enjoyed this workout and to please make more. The production quality is outstanding and the music is great. Top notch fighter workout and you'll feel hardcore!! HIghly recommend it and it's cheap at Amazon. ....okay 'nuff said.
Deb - I bit the bullet and ordered INcubus' new album....hope I'm not sorry. If it's good, I can burn it for you....if you think you'd be into a bit mellower jams for a change.
Hi to everyone else and have great workouts. I've got to do some errand running and then go over my Mom's to help her with some stuff. She's doing much better .....walking with a horrid limp....but she's walking and it's painful....but she's on her way to being healed. She's in her 8th week and she should be fully healed at around 12 weeks.
