Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Wed 5-10

Cathlete
Morning Fitness Maniacs -

This morning I only did a half hour of Bosu Blast on my new Bosu and Eion Finn's Power Yoga for Happiness Premix "Quickie Workout" (1/2 hour). I probably should have done longer but I was short on time and needed to get some laundry and other stuff done this morning. I figure an easier day won't kill me since I don't take any full rest days.

The Bosu is harder than it looks. My HR was in the 140's and 150's and I wasn't even pushing hard, as I was having a difficult enough time balancing on top of the thing. The hardest thing was running on top of it.....and I was flying all over. It was fun though. I won't go into too much detail cuz I know nobody else has a Bosu but I will say that I immediately felt my low back and legs working really hard to stabilize my body as soon as I hopped on the thing! I think it will take some practice, but I'm gonna like it cuz it's bouncy and gets your heartrate up.

To continue the yoga debate ......and yes Marietta, I'll keep staying on you to try your Bryan Kest tapes! Do them on a weekend after your run and you'll be amazed what a release that is at the end of a hard work and workout week.

Seriously though, I think the same way most of you do about yoga, but for me, after I began doing it on the weekends, I kind of look forward to it and force myself to do it cuz I know it's so good for me. Also, with my mental problems, depression and being a recovering addict and all, I think it's a positive thing in my life. I also like the healing aspect of it. I tend to have way too much chatter in my head most of the time from my disease and a couple times a week, it feels good to clear the chatter, stretch out, massage my internal organs and tone my body in a functional way that makes me better able to handle my tougher workouts.

Have great workouts. Work continues to be very stressful and busy....so I doubt I'll be able to check in until after hours. See everyone later! Have a great day.

ETA:

Netta; Eion has a new DVD coming out next month. It's a yoga DVD that will have premixes on it like PY4H! I can't wait. Yes, I'm 47 also and need more flexibility training these days also. Yoga has helped with my sciatica and piriformis spasms that I get from high impact cardio and has been helping me to handle the impact better.

Good Morning All!

I meant to post last night when we got back, but my stomach was in soooo much pain! :-( My dd, bless her heart, said, "Mom, why don't you put an ice pack on it." lol :D Ice was my wonder drug for my foot. My sil and I take all the kids every year for a grandkids shot for my in-laws. Well, my boys were B-A-D! :-( They were so good the past two days running errands with me. I guess they saved it all up.;-) Needless to say, they went straight to their rooms last night. While I dealt with my ailing stomach. So, no yoga for me.

I see there was talk about yoga in yesterday's thread. I wasn't liking yoga either when I started 8 years ago. However, I saw what it did for my dh. He was so calm and peaceful after he did an hour. I thought it can't be all that bad. I started out with just one day a week. Now since I got hurt, I try to get more yoga/stretching into my week. I really think I hurt my ankle because my muscles were so tight the week I heard the crack.

Today, I plan on doing upper body. Not sure which DVD. I'll pull out GSL, again and do all the standing except step ups and slow motion lunges. The PT said add stuff back in slowly. I'm sticking with the same leg DVD because it hasn't given me any problems. I just have lightened my weights a lot.

Lora ~ You mentioned Eion has a DVD? Was that at Amazon? I'm on the fence if I should get Mark's or Eoin's....help! ;-)

Marietta ~ Aww, you're so nice...you learned something from me?!! I hope your co-worker shows up! I agree with Lora. Start out with just 20-30 minutes. I really does feel amazing when you're all done.

Nicole ~ I'm moving at a snails pace. ha ha! But, hey, at least I'm running again. :) So, what was the "winning" workout yesterday?

Christine ~ That has to be the cutest picture! Was that AmyG that you went hiking with recently? If so, she does seem sweet from her posts. Glad you two had a good time. Is your dh's mom OK? That must be so hard living so far away from her.

Susan ~ What did you ever do about daycare? When do you go back to work?

Diane Sue ~ How is your dd, Candy? Another great workout fro you!!

Netta ~ WAY TO GO on the miles and decreasing your time!!!!

Hi to everyone else! I need to start my workout...our group is getting so big! :)

I'll check back...

Dallas

ETA: Lora, I just saw your ETA. Will that be Eion's first DVD? Or are there others? Should I wait for PY4Y..ha ha (Was that the right initials?)

Hi maniacs:

My workout today was TJ Cardio Party and then I added on CTX shoulders only. Nice workout for under 1 hour, which I try to keep it to.

Lora, I'm excited about Eoin's new DVD. I'll have to listen up to find out when it's released. Glad you're liking the Bosu. Always good to be challenged in a different way. Hope your day at work is okay.

Dallas, hope the stomach is better. I hate it when my stomach is upset, no fun at all. Hope it's not the flu. Worst stomach pain I ever had was gall bladder attacks. Thought I was actually having a heart attack or something. Sometimes I get a bad gas bubble up high and have to drink some baking soda and water to get it to move. That can be really painful too. I can't picture my DH ever doing yoga, but stranger things have happened. We're supposed to take the dogs out tonite and do a little running ourselves. It will be the first time this year. He actually suggested this so that's good. Maybe I won't have to have beer in an ice chest waiting as a bribe.

I'll post more tonite after work, haircut and outing with dogs & DH.

Jeanette

This morning I did all of Step, Jump & Pump. This workout is so fun and the music is awesome. I just love doing it, it seems to go by so fast even though its over an hour. The abs are a killer in this workout as well. I was in my zone for 49 minutes and I burned 319 calories. I'm happy about that!

Gotta get ready for work, I'll check back in later. Great workouts everyone!

Hi Ladies,

Today is a step workout an d I am thinking MIC bu now Debbie has reminded me how fun step jump and pump is :) Then I want to do some leg work and I am thinking f doing the all lower body workout from the slim series.

Dallas-Sorry your stomach is bothering you. :(

Nicole-How is everything there?

Marietta-I hope your co-worker shows up as well.

Christime-I know you have said but when is your last day?

Terri

Good Morning Maniacs!!

Today was an easy morning for me....I just walked 3-miles on my treadmill with a 10% incline and then I did some shoulder work.

I am supposed to go on a long run at lunch with my co-workers. That will all depend on if I get out of my meeting in time. I'm sure I'll still run regardless, but it will be shorter if I can't go with the rest of the guys.

Lora - I do have a BOSU...just don't use it much. I'm sure I need to invest in some workouts specifically for it. I know...stay on my case about the yoga...I know it will click with me soon. Have a good day at work.

Dallas - What's the matter with your tummy? Was it something you ate? I'm gonna give the yoga a try...The weekends would be best for me but they are sooooo busy that I have a hard time finding the time.

Jeanette - Congratulatations on your improved times...that's awesome!! Makes it all worthwhile....Enjoy your walk/run with you DH and dogs.

Terri - Sounds like you are back to yourself again...I'm glad!! Girl, my co-worker is here, but at this point it doesn't matter because you never know if she will be here tomorrow. I decided not to let her absence or even her presence affect me...I'll just do what I gotta do. Enjoy your workout...whatever you decide to do.

Debbie - Good workout...sounds like you had much fun. What else are you up to today?

Hi to the Maniacs that follow!

I'll be back later...

OK, upper body work - check (I did MM upper body premix) and GSL - check. I tell you my legs are pretty fatigued during the floor work. Boy, do I have work to do!:) I think I'd like to go back to GSL floor only. ha ha. No thanks!

Jeanette ~ I actually was having chest pains yesterday before the pictures. I thought maybe it was from PUB the day before. Oh boy! Gall bladder....hmmm, what did you do for that?

Marietta ~ Heck, I don't know what's going on now. Just when my foot feels good, something else has to start hurting. Geez! It'll be fine. Have fun on your run!

Terri ~ Yes, it sounds like you're feeling much better. Enjoy all that stepping, pumping and jumping! :)

Have more stops to make today. I hope to get them done before the rain! Hopefully, my boys will be little angels...lol. :)

Dallas

Good morning!

This morning I did ME. Of course I was tempted to do Power Hour again, but I forced myself to do something different. :) That evil laugh during the biceps curls cracks me up. I had my parrot in the basement with me while I was working out and she kept laughing too. Hmmm...

Marietta - we have a gal in our office who misses SO MUCH work. In fact, she's not here today. She's out of sick time and vacation time. She got talked to a couple weeks ago. But everyone's afraid to do anything. Glad she's not my employee. We call her Flicka - from My Friend Flicka, the ever-reliable horse that you could totally depend on. Hehehe.

Jeanette - WOW - CONGRATS on your time trial! I don't think I could ever go over 19 mph - or even 19. I'm so impressed with you! You're awesome! If I can get to about 18.5 this year, I'll be happy (based on my most recent 17.2 mph ride for 31 miles - do you think that's doable?). I need to take your advice on some easier rides. It's hard now that my friends keep wanting to ride with me and they're such strong cyclists. So all my rides become hard (yet it makes me stronger). I'll have to think on that.

Dallas - I hope your tummy feels better. Maybe those naughty boys put your tummy in knots!

Debbie - what is SJP like? I like fun workouts!

Christine - last day of what? I see Terri asked you when your last day is.

Terri - I live in Cheyenne - not too far north from you. We woke up to snow on the grassy areas but that was about it, thank goodness! But unlike Denver, it's always windy here. x( Summers are usually perfect, but we've had so much wind this winter it's starting to make me really nervous. I hate riding in the wind.

Gosh - you all almost have me talked into yoga - at least once a week. What is the best, most fun, first yoga video to try? My neighbor is the yoga guru in Cheyenne. She's got an awesome reputation. She's invited me to her classes before. I should try that too. What swayed me was the talk about getting older (I'm 43) and possible injuries.

Have a happy day everyone!

Susan

Just a quick visit - I'm really busy and my working with my boss today.

Dallas - Eion has 2 DVDs for sale on his site, but shipping from Canada is $10. The Power Yoga for Happiness is for sale on Amazon.com. I like Eion better than Mark and I think PY4H is a good DVD. It has all of the premixes also. As far as hard, he does his stuff so a beginner can do it or an advanced person. I would say Eion's has a better pose selection. If you have the money, I would get PY4H and one of Mark's to start.

Marietta - If you only buy one bosu workout (aerobic one), I'd get the CIA one with Seasun (Double Cardio). It is really worth the money, as you get the complete aerobic Bosu Blast workout with Seasun and it also has the Weight/Cardio Circuit workout with Sharon Twombly that is 75 minutes and is an excellent advanced workout. When Greg first posted about it over at VF, he was saying it was harder than a Cathe workout......but after doing it, I'd agree....it's tough! It works your legs with aerobics really well. It was a bit lacking in lat and chest work, but otherwise was a great workout.......I'm babbling and I've got tons of work staring at me. gotta run

Hi everyone...........I'll be back later.

Terri - Haven't done much with mish-moshes lately. I'll be starting some good ones here soon.

Marietta - not much going on today, just work. I'm hoping to do some yoga this evening.

Susan - SJ&P is a 15-20 minutes step routine, then she does a hi/lo segment followed by weight training. This goes on for four cycles. It is REALLY fun. I love it. This DVD also has Step Blast on it and its my favorite DVD of all her workouts.

Hey all! How's it going?

Phew! Busy at work today. I guess that's good. The problem is I'm so darned busy in the morning then in the afternoon it's soo quiet, but I'm filled with adrenilin. I know - B*tch, b*tch, b*tch... Sorry... :+

Did PowerStrike 1 today. Was surprised that I could not get my HR above 130, and that was with the lunge kicks. I'm normally in the 140/150 range in that. Not sure if the running is kicking up my condition or today was just an off day. Guess time will tell.

Lora - I think you're right. I just need to make myself do Yoga. I've started skipping the stretches after standard workouts, and adding a 10 minute yoga segment - just to get myself used to it and craving it.

Dallas - Oh I hope you're feeling better today! And yes, I met Amyg from the boards - she's as sweet as her posts... We had fun.

Fortunately, DH's mom is getting out of the hospital tomorrow. She's 86 years old and the fiesty as all get out. She's a riot. She's doing okay now. Unfortunately, his boss is now sick. His boss is a very close friend of both of ours and is in China with him. He's been to the doctor and is on Amoxicillian (DH is leery of the medical care in 3rd World Countries, as am I - having been to many) so DH is going to stay with him today (tomorrow - it's actually Thursday there now) and see if he gets better. If he does not he'll fly home with him on Friday as his mom is out of danger. There's also a huge heatwave in India which is making DH nervous. Temps are 110 + and it's humid there as it's monsoon season. He's not sure he'd come out okay from there - he's not used to that any more. So there's a lot going on right now and DH may or may not be home THIS Friday instead of next. Hopefully all will be well with Joe (DH's Boss) and mom. Sorry to go on and on...

Suz - my company was bought by another company, so my position is being eliminated. Terri - my last day is July 7th. I can't wait!!! :p

Hello to everyone else - sorry - I must get back to being tortured, er ah, working...

Hey Everyone,
Well I did not get my workout in yesterday:eek: Oh well today I am going to do kickmax bootcamp premix and then I am going to pull out one of my Joyce dvds for weights. I need a good laugh:D

Terri yesterday started my son on a pulse dose of steroids. (meaning he will get 4 days of steroids in a row) Hoping this will do the trick!! How are you feeling?? Better I hope!!

Dallas I know what you mean about going at a snails pace!! I have been dragging all this week. There is something here in the air that really has my allergys acting up!!

Christine happy to hear you mil is getting out of the hosiptal!! I think that is so nice of your dh to stick around with his boss!! Sounds like a keeper to me:D Hope everything goes well, and sending prayers your way!! Btw your niece is a doll!!

Netta way to go with your speed!! Will ya please send some my way:7

Diane Sue I ended up ordering Turbo jams today.......I ended up ordering the max. results ones and then they had a offer of 4 more dvds that I also ended up getting. I am looking forward to these they look FUN!!

Hello to everyone else:D

~Nicole

Hey you Maniacs!!

I am a MANIAC big time today!! I went out on a run with the guys...there was a threat of rain so I was a little reluctant, but they talked me into it. We decided to run a big loop around downtown, just in case it rained too hard. After loop one, we decided to go for it and proceeded to take a different route that has a major hill (this incline is steady and steep and it's about a mile in distance - need I say more). I was feeling good and finished nicely....could have run some more actually. I love it when it goes like that!! I'd say or pace averaged 8:00 to 8:30 minute miles...nice!

Lora - I'll have to check out that BOSU workout you are recommending. I could see how doing a workout on the BOSU would be challenging because of all the core work that would be involved.

Suz - Maybe your co-worker and my co-worker are sisters!!!! I'm thinking my management is afraid of my co-worker also...what's up with that??!! You should go to your friend's class...So, your parrot was laughing? At you or at Cathe (smile)?

Debbie - I need some yoga after that run. I could feel my muscles getting tight during the run. Those hills did some damage...

Christine - Good news about your dh's mom...bad news about your dh's boss. I know the medical care is questionable...hope he gets better. Your dh has a big decision on his hands either way doesn't he?

Hi Nicole - You broke down and ordered Turbo Jams!! Can't wait to hear what you think about them...let me know. Keep us posted on your ds...ok?

Hi to anyone I may have missed...just charge it to my head and not my heart because I've got much luv for all you maniacs!!

Bye for now...

Hi ladies!!

I thought I would pop in real fast and say HI!!

I cannot believe the boys only have 8 school days left for the year. There has been a lot going on here. I have another field trip next week and I am helping out the 22nd too on the last day of school.

I had another client and made a verbal offer for them and the seller came back with a "NO". Oh well, maybe some day. I am trying to get them to look at some other houses. I had another client that I thought was going to make an offer on a house but then all of a sudden they just quit talking to me. I guess they changed their minds. I work again tomorrow and Friday, 1-5. I hope I hear from someone.

The race is Saturday but I am not ready. It is suppose to rain too. What am I suppose to do in the rain. I guess I had better take some extra clothes. lol This is my first race and it looks like it will be interesting. lol I have not been able to run for 2 weeks because of my neck. I am going to get on the treadmill later though and see what happens.

Ok, enough complaining. It is just one of those days!! Sorry! haha

You'll do fine Sabrina! My first race was in the rain and I actually had more fun. So good luck! Consider your two weeks without a run as tapering. It will make you feel better!

GO SABRINA GO!!

Hi Ladies it has been a busy day. I had work stuff to do and then a check-in with the dentist(all is good) then went to my Dads to do some paperwork he needed done.

Great news about Dave! He got a job!!!! Made my whole day when he called me to tell me. Weird part is it is with the same company Ashley works for so once again they can car pool:)

Sounds like you all got some great workouts in. Marietta, you ROCK!

Sabrina-Let me know about the Turbo Jams. Those and p90x are on my wish list:)

Terri

That is great news Terri!!

What a relief!!! And they can save $$ on gas....what more can a guy ask for??!!

Time to celebrate!!!!!! (Now is when I wish I new how to use those cool and cute little pictures. I'd insert them here..darn!)

Good evening,
It has been another busy day. I got in Cardio Coach#5 ran to pick up my granddaughter and then did PS CST, Ab Jam (I wanted to try it with my Jolies and 1#weighted cloves)I like it but I liked it even better this way. Then I did Str. Max w/ the band. I spent this afternoon shopping and making cookies for DH homecoming Saurday. Last night I did the free down load of Eion Finn's Yoga Quickie.

Lora, thanks for reminding me of the Eion Finn's downloads. I had them on the computer but hadn't put them on my mp3 player. I finally got it done.

Dallas, it seems like children always misbehave when you are not at your best. I hope you get to feeling better.

Christine, I am glad your DH gets to come home sooner. I hope his boss gets better soon. Hopefully your dh doesn't catch watever it is.

Nicole, I love the Turbo Jam's. I want to pull one out everyday but remind myself to crosstrain. The ones I do not have are Lower Body Jam, Live Booty Sculpt, and Live Cardio Party Remix. Have fun with them.

Terri, I am glad your dentist appointment went well. I am soon to go for a crown this month. So good to hear that Dave found a job.

Sabrina, I hope your neck is better before Saturday.

Jeanette, hope your run with your DH and the dogs was good.

Suz, the parrot laughing made me chuckle. I could only imagine.

Marietta, you got in a great run today.

Debbie, I like the music a lot in SJP. My grandchildren like to come in and do the floor cardio with me. They seem to like it too.

Hi Charlotte!!

Better go tend to the girls for the evening.
