Hardcore Fitness Maniacs April 2025

We had company over the weekend so I was unable to get on and post my workouts for the past few days.
Friday- 3 mile walk with the pup
Saturday- Vertical Loading #2 CL
Sunday- rest day
Today I started Cathe's original STS, Meso 2 and did Disc#13 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I want to lift slow and heavy for the next month and this workout series fits the bill. Workout was 65 minutes and I did really well with the weights. I like the 1-minute break between sets, and I love the pace. I will skip the leg workouts because they bother my knees and do my own thing or just walk, use my Max Trainer or the elliptical machine.

Belinda, great job with the workouts over the weekend. That is such a funny story about the goats on the road! I love goats, I grew up with them and would love to get some more again.

Debbie, I like the series you were talking about, and yes, these slow and heavy workouts are longer in time, I think because of the rest periods. However, this is my favorite way to train and to see results. I need more muscle mass; I have lost quite a bit and would love to get it back again. I will do it!

Daine Sue, that is weird about the pain you were having and the high blood pressure. Did you get the Covid vaccine? The medical community is starting to see a lot of issues now due to the protein that was left in the body. If you did not, I wonder what is causing that to happen? I hope you are feeling better. I love that you dog is settling in and is happy to go in and out of the doggy door.

Roselyn, let us know what you think of the new app you are going to try. I love Caroline's workouts and would be curious what you think of the new way of getting the workouts. Great job on the Max day workout!

Have a wonderful day. My dog got stung by a bee on his foot while I was working out and I have to make sure he is ok. I gave him Benadryl and some pain meds but I have to see if I can find the stinger. Poor guy he is limping around the house...

Today I did RAW Heavy Bag/Shadow Boxing. This is my favorite workout that has her son Zach in it.

Workout was 37 minutes, burned 341 calories, did 2658 steps and HR was 151/185.

Great workouts everyone! I don't have time for personals today.

Today I did Raw Arms, 22 minutes, 95 calories, Raw Boxing Finisher, 17 minutes, 101 calories, heart rate 127/160, and LMR functional Pilates timesaver #1 foam roller, 22 minutes, 51 calories. Total time 61 minutes, 247 calories. My arthritis doctor messaged me back and said to stop the med and see if my blood pressure goes back down. It is rather obvious on my blood pressure monitor app as two months ago I was almost always in the green normal zone and then it just started going up to elevated and stage 1 and I hit stage 2 a few times. It was almost normal this morning and I am wondering if the folic Acid that I started Saturday helped. I read that it can help Methatrexate side effects so gave it a try for Leflunomide. I will have to take a couple of days off workouts this week for an appointment and a birthday party for great grandsons first birthday.

Raw Arms 21:59 minutes
Biceps and Triceps of 4 exercises 10 reps each done in 4 rounds and then a finisher round at the end
Kelly uses 20,'s 15's and 10's (mostly 20's for biceps)

Front curls 15# dbs x 10reps

Overhead triceps extensions 10# dbs x 10

Hammer Curls 15# dbs x 10 reps

Kickbacks 10# dbs x10reps

All moves are done 4 times (one of the rounds she forgets the triceps extensions so ads it in before and after the round)

Finisher round was supination/press back wide to curl/press down 10# dbs

stretch

Belinda, nice work on STS 2 Body Parts Shoulders today. I saw a calf one time running up the road howling and wanting to get back on the other side of the fence. Poor thing. At least the goats are okay.
I printed up that rotation when Cathe emailed it. Thinking it looked like something I would like to do. My time seems to be reduced lately so getting in decent workouts is harder.

Roselyn, nice work on Max Day 2 focus on legs and delts.

Jolie, good job getting in the walk, CL Vertical Loading #2, and today's STS 2 Meso 2 disc 13 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. No, I never got a Covid Vaccine. I think it is the Arava/leflunomide that the arthritis prescribed. High blood pressure is somewhat of a common side effect. Also, I was reading up on the drug and it blocks DNA. I only gave in for the med because pain has gotten worse and I am worried about the destruction of organs and joints that the arthritis does. Every problem health wise that I have can be caused by the RA destruction. Heart health the said RA. I have always eaten healthy and worked out, not overweight at all. Lung nodules and bronchiectasis RA can cause, and it just seems to keep going. I need it slowed down. The arm pain thing was really odd as it was sudden, and my husband was getting worried when I jumped up and was pacing holding onto my arm. I couldn't move it around without making it worse for a while. The arthritis doctor said I need to go have the C7 Vertabrae partial compression checked. Well that was helpful since he is a doctor, right?

Debbie, great job on Raw Heavy Bag/shadowboxing.

This morning I did STS 2 Body Parts Shoulders and had a great workout. I wish I can increase my weights on this workout but for me, working shoulders is hard. Plus I'm afraid of injury. I just feel like this one is a great shoulder workout because of the types of exercises she has in it. For instance, the Iso Hold w/Overhead Press - for me it's so hard to concentrate on either move and I'm afraid of injuring myself. It's hard for me to hold the 5# weight out in front of me and I wonder what benefits you get from this exercise? I'm not complaining, just noting something on here that I don't like.

Barbell Overhead Press: 30# - 3 sets/8 reps
Standing Iso Hold w/Overhead Press: 5#/12# - 2 sets/8 reps
Incline Front Raise: 8's/5's - 2 sets/8 reps
Seated Lateral Raise: 10's/8's - 2 sets/8 reps
Alternate Seated Lateral Raise: 5's - 1 set/12 reps
Standing Front/Side Slide Combo: 5's - 1 set/10 reps
Hip Huggers: 20's 2 sets/8 reps
Rear Delt/Hip Hugger SS: 5# & 20's - 2 sets/8 reps
Band Single Arm Rear Delt Fly: 15# band - 2 sets/10 reps
Face Pulls: 20# band - 1 set/11 reps

Workout was 42 minutes, burned 201 calories, HR was 107/134.

Belinda - Great job with Body Part Shoulders. What are your thoughts on this workout? That is so funny about the animals you saw, how cool is that! I hope they get back to where they belong.

Roselyn - I am also curious as to what you think of Caroline's app. Let us know. I'm wondering if you have to use your phone for the workouts or if you can stream it to a TV?

Jolie - I've been wanting to do STS 1 Meso 2 but the workouts are so long. Maybe when I'm on spring break I'll do a few. Wish they were shorter, I find hour long workouts just too much now. It seems like overkill. Great job on your workouts!! Hope your dog is ok!! Ouch!!

Diane - Seems you are feeling better with the workouts you did, great job on those! It's scary how meds that are supposed to help you make other things happen. I hope you can figure things out to make it better for you. That is crazy about how bad your arm was hurting, I just don't understand how that can just come and go like that? Have they ever suggested the transfusions like Belinda is getting? My cousin has that done and it eases her pain significantly. I'm sorry you are going through all this, doesn't seem fair or right! We workout, eat healthy and still, this happens. Not fair at all.

Hope you all have a great workout and day today!

Hi,

Today I did STS 2 Body Parts Biceps plus zoom dance. Tomorrow I will double my workouts if I can, I have a UPenn appointment on Thursday.

Diane - aww…the poor calf, probably was looking for its mama. I am glad the goat and sheep are ok. Are you on MTX? I do take a Leucovorin folic Acid daily. MTX will cancel your natural folic acid, it also helps with the side effects from MTX.

Debbie - STS 2 is very different from her original STS, IMO! I do like STS 2, they are shorter workouts. It's hard for me too to hold the 5# weight out in front of me, I don’t use an 5# anymore. Like you, I was wonder what benefits you get from this exercise? The more I do STS 2 the more I like it. I still prefer the original over STS 2. Great job on your shoulder workout.

Jolie - how fun you grew up with goats. I have no idea how to handle them, they were big goats too. I’ll bet they could kick my butt, lol. Great job on your workouts.

Have a great evening.

Today I did CDorner Easy basic Step #458, 46 minutes, 273 calories, 3,206 steps, heart rate 130/157. I followed with CDorner Neck and Shoulder Stretch 20 minutes, 38 calories and added Raw stretch finisher (lower body) and LMR foam roller lower rolling portion, 16 minutes, 34 calories. 82 minutes, 82 calories.
No workout tomorrow. I have a field vision test in the morning.

Debbie, great job on STS 2 Body Part Shoulders today. That holding the 5# weight in front is something I don't care for, but I am sure it strengthens some areas that just moving a dumbbell around would not. It makes me thing about how it felt when I was in PT climbing a wall ladder with my fingers as high as I could get over and over till my whole arm was shaking and fatigued where it was hard to get up. This was after shoulder surgery. Yes, I feel somewhat better. I had one knee and arm that kept waking me up last night. I probably should not have chosen the step workout. It was slower paced, and I did some of it on the floor. It is hard to figure out what workout I can do with so many areas keep giving me problems.
They do have an infusion area at the arthritis center. A lot of those infusions are very expensive, and they generally push the methotrexate, leflunomide, or one other med that have some similarities first. They are lower cost and some other reasons. My daughter would like to see me have one of those infusion type drugs biologics. It is sort of a rule in the medical system that you try other things first. My daughter says some of the biologics have worked well and stopped the rheumatoid arthritis progression.

Belinda, good job on STS 2 Body Parts Biceps and zoom dance today. I am on Leflunomide. I read that methotrexate and leflunomide may benefit from taking folic acid and biotin. Folic acid can help relieve side effects and biotin hair loss. The only thing about biotin is if getting blood work some tests can be altered. I think if you just do not take biotin for a day or two before it will be okay. Reading up on the studies, folic acid has helped people be able to stay on methotrexate. You have a special folate. I just bought some Now folic acid to try.

If you all can say a prayer for my brother who is in the hospital right now, I would appreciate it. He had very bad heart palpitations last night and it is still going on a bit this morning. He saw his heart doctor and they will being all kinds of tests today.

This morning I did RAW July Rotation: Lower/Back/Chest. I changed this to Lower/TRICEPS/Chest. I haven't worked my triceps in a long time so figured I'd change it up a bit.

10 reps each exercise. Repeat circuit 3 times

Heel Squats: 25#
Glute Squats: 30# (love these)
Deadlifts: 20's
Split Squat: (I did Close Grip BP: 15's)
Lateral Pulldown: (I did standing overhead tri extensions: 20#)
Band Rows: (I did lying incline triceps extension: 12's)
Incline Chest Press: 25's
Repeat 2 more times

I then got on my treadmill and walked for 1 mile.

Total workout time was 50 minutes, burned 381 calories, HR was 132/179.

Belinda - Nice job with STS Biceps and Zoom! I think I like STS 2 better, I like that the workouts aren't over an hour for the most part and I really love the one body part workouts. But STS 1 is awesome as well and I actually think it more defines the definition of STS. STS 2 doesn't seem to be that type of training. But I still love it.

Diane - Nice job with your workouts! Yes, I'm sure holding that weight out in front does something but it's not for me. I'll be changing that exercise up next time I do it. Yes, I know doctors need to exhaust all other services before they give you what they know will work (for most cases). I swear they just do all that to collect the money. Big pharma. I hope you start feeling better and not having to worry about what workouts you can do, that must be very frustrating.

Have great workouts everyone!!

Good morning,

Today I did Functional Core Fusion + STS 2 Body Parts Triceps. I did the triceps workout today, I will not have time to do it in the morning. Tomorrow I have an UPenn RP study appointment. Not looking forward to the long drive.

Diane - are you taking MTX? Or thinking taking it? I am confused, lol. I had hair loss at the beginning of taking MTX. Maybe I should take a biotin supplement. The regulars folic acid didn’t do much for me, my Rheumatologist switched me to the one I mention. I have zero side effects from MTX. MTX is the preferred medication for RA and other autoimmune disease. Great job on your workout.

Debbie - praying for your brother. So sorry he is going through this. Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers! I agree, you have to go through all their protocol on regular meds first before they consider switching you to meds that are actually working. I been through a lot in the last 5 years. I agree, on both STS programs with you. I do like both for different reasons. Great job on your workout.

I have to take Sadie to the groomer. BBl

Yesterday I did a 3 mile walk in the am and a 1.5 mile walk in the pm. Today I did a 3 mile walk again in the am and I will walk the pup again this afternoon. Tomorrow I have weights and I am looking forward to it.

Debbie, praying for your brother! I bet it is hard to concentrate on anything while your brother is going through his health issue. Great job on the workout today. Regarding the long STS workouts being long, I used to do one body part per day along with cardio and it worked out great. You can just do Chest one day and maybe a kickboxing workout or your TM. I may do that going forward, maybe two body parts per day in between the days that I walk the pup.

Diane Sue, great job on the easy basic step workout!

Belinda, nice job on the sts workout.

Have a nice day.

This morning I did RAW Kickboxing #5 and had a great workout. I used my 1.5# egg weights. I like the music in this one, wish she had it playing louder. Usually her music is way too loud, in this one, it's not loud enough. LOL!!

Workout was 40 minutes, burned 330 calories, did 3954 steps and HR was 138/178.

I probably won;t workout tomorrow, I have a late evening event (spelling bee) and will get home late.

Thank you for your prayers for my brother, he was just released from the hospital. He will need to have his aortic valve fixed in the coming months but it's not a risky surgery. He'll feel so much better once that's done. I can finally give a sigh of relief.

I don't have time for personals, so I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Debbie, fantastic news about your brother!!!

Today's workout was a 2 mile walk on the TM, followed by STS Meso 2 Disc #15 Back only. I like this one body part per day, I can really give the muscle group the attention that it needs. This is a great option for me when I am short on time.

Debbie, nice job on the workout today. Enjoy the spelling bee.

Roselyn, the new app sounds great! Way to go on the total body workout.

I hope you all have great workouts today if it is on the schedule.

Make it a great day!

No workout yesterday or today. I had my eye field vision test in the morning then dh and I went to lunch and a ride on the scooter. I came back with my back hurting, got it settled and then I rested on my knee looking at pictures with dh and my knee locked out. After I got it back into place it hurt so was icing. I was going to try a workout this morning but was notified by Amazon that a sofa for my daughter was arriving early. She was at work, so I went to her house to check on the delivery. It would be nice if UPS gave a time frame and delivery day well ahead of time. I cleaned the patio and windows in between. Maybe tomorrow. Probably a good thing to rest another day anyway. I won't get a workout in this weekend because Saturday is my great grandson's 1st birthday, and I will be travelling an hour and a half drive to get there.
Harvey is so cute. He seems to know when we are getting ready to go out and puts himself in his crate. He saw me get out my purse to go to my daughter's house and went straight to his crate.

Belinda, nice work on functional fusion Core and STS 2 Body Parts Triceps. I hope your RP Study appointment went well today. I do not think I would want to do something like that if it required more travel. No, I am not planning on taking Methotrexate. It just seems to be mentioned a lot when I am reading up on Leflunomide. I think Methotrexate is stronger though. It takes a while for Leflunomide to start being effective, so I sort of want to keep taking it since I have hit the 6-week mark. My rheumatologist said to try not taking it and see if it is what is raising my blood pressure. Yesterday blood pressure was better, and I almost went ahead and took it. I will quit over the weekend and then see.

Debbie, I am glad your brother is okay and out of the hospital. Praying they get things fixed. Nice work on Raw Kickboxing Boxing #5. I rather like hearing the music loud if it is good. As long as the instructor is not having to shout over the music.

Jolie, nice job on two walks a day. I hope that you have a great weight workout tomorrow.

Today was a 3.2 mile walk with the pup. My husband and I are putting my gym back together in the garage this weekend and I am so excited to use all of my equipment again. I have a whole pully cable system, leg machines, TM, Elliptical, Max Trainer and all of my weights and benches. I love to workout with the door up when it is sunny and warm, and a nice breeze is blowing off the ocean.

Daine Sue, sorry to hear about your knee! I hope you feel better today and am able to workout. Your dog sounds so cute!

I hope you all have good workouts today and happy Friday!

Today I did Lift Move & Restore Functional Barre + the foam roller bonus upper body, 62 minutes, 217 calories, heart rate 100/138.

Jolie, nice work on the 3.2 mile with your pup today. Have fun getting things set up in the garage. My knee felt better this morning. I didn't push a tough workout, although the Barre workout is a lot of balance, core, and, upper with light weights.

Roselyn, nice work on Max Day 5.

Hi,

Sorry I haven’t checked in yesterday. My appointment went well on Friday. They ran a lot of test for the study. We didn’t get home until late that evening.

Yesterday I did a zoom dance, today I did Functional TB and STS2 Mobility 1.

Diane - good job with your workouts. I signed up for the study, it doesn’t border me to drive to Philly in the hope the doctors/researchers find a cure for RP. I don’t want anyone to go through what we go through with this disease. The doctor was amazed on how much I work out, most people with RP can’t workout the way I do. A lot of them end up in wheelchairs, ventilators. Sorry the med is causing your blood pressure to rise. I was told Methotrexate takes 3 months to see a different. I hope you feel better soon With your blood pressure and knee.

Good night.

Yesterday was a rest day for me, we set up the gym in the garage and it is amazing! My son says it looks just like 24 hour fitness :) Today I woke up early excited to workout again in a gym, not my bedroom and had a great workout. I did a 45 minute, 2.5 mile walk uphill on my TM and then a 23 minute run on my elliptical, 2.5 miles on Interval mode and I was darn near dead at the end. Total of 5 miles in 68 minutes. I finished with STS Meso 2 Disc #15 Biceps only. I feel so good getting in a hard cardio workout again, it has been ages, and it feels amazing to sweat that much, I was dripping on the elliptical.

Roselyn, I hope your tests come out good. Nice job on the zoom dance and mobility workout.

Roselyn, I am so glad you are enjoying the new workouts from Caroline.

Diane Sue, so happy to hear your knee is doing better. I hit mine the other day and have a bone bruise on the corner of the knee cap.

Make it a great Sunday.
