Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 8/19

Didn't get to log my workout yesterday because I had to take my mom to her appointment to get her hip surgery date scheduled. We met with the doctor and I really like him. I feel confident that he will do everything he can to make this procedure as painless as possible. Her surgery date is Sept. 28th.

I got up yesterday and did cardio. Chose Cardio Coach #6 w/Sean. Had a great workout. Actually, it was a puke status workout.

HR STATS:
1 hr. total
8 minutes below zone
23 minutes in zone
30 minutes above zone
493 calories burned
3.25 miles travelled

Today was STS Meso 1, Week 3, Disc 9 - Legs. This was an ok workout, wasn't too happy with all the plate work. I just don't like those exercises. My legs were toast by the end, though.

Warmup:
Squat Lunge Sequence 8/4 - BW
One Leg Sit N Slide with Paper Plate - 12#/15 reps
Lateral Step Ups (dumbbell) - 12#/15 reps a side

Workout:
Deadlifts Wide Stance (dumbbell) - 25's/15 reps
Side Lunge onto 6" High Step - 20#/15 reps each side
45 Degree Lunge (Same Leg) (dumbells) -15's/15 reps each side
Front Squats Narrow Stance (dumbbell) - 30's/15 reps
Static Low End Lunge Same Leg 3/1 Count - 15's/12 reps each side, different counts
Plie Squats Alternating Hand (dumbbell) - 25#/24 reps
Deadlifts Wide Stance (dumbbell) - 30's/15 reps
One Leg Slide Back Lunges with Paper Plate (dumbbell) - 10's/16 reps each side (hated these)
Side Slide Lunges with Paper Plate - 15#/16 reps each side (hated these too)
Front Lunge Same Leg (dumbbell) - 15's/15 reps each side
Squats (dumbbell) - 30's/16 reps
Calf Raises (dumbbell) - BW/40 reps (had to drop the weights because my forearms were burning big time after the squats.
Leg Press (dumbbell, High Step) - 20#/15 reps each side
Stiff Legged Deadlift on Platform (dumbell) - 25's/13 reps (was suppose to be 15, low back was yelling at me)
Wall Squats Double Leg (body weight) - BW/8 slow reps
One Leg Deadlift (Toes Elevated) 3/1 Count - 15#/12 reps each side (I like these)

Bonus floor work:
Leg raises (r + L) - 3.15# ankle weights/24 reps (these were hard on the 2nd leg. Burned big time)
Outer Thigh - 3.15# ankle weights/24 reps
Hamstring and Glute Work with Plate Alternating legs - 8 reps per leg
Hamstring and Glute Work with Plate Both legs - 8 reps per leg
Adductor Glide Ins - 8 reps (Could not slide and do these. They sucked)
Adductor Hamstring Glide Ins - 8 reps
Glute Presses - 24 reps

Wasn't too thrilled about the floor work in this one. The plate work is just stupid.

Debbie-I hope your mom's surgery goes well. A good surgeon can make or break a hip replacement. Nice work on STS. I have a love/hate relationship with the plates. sometimes I feel like I may not be able to get back up. I like the side plate lunges better than the others.

Yesterday was cardio. Kickbox surge combos 1, 2, 4, then all 5 surges, then bag work from kbx. workout 41 minutes, 691 calories.

Today is cardio. Not sure what yet. I am very sore from weight work on Monday. Holy DOMS. :)

Last night, I did CC#8 and abs. I started on the SM for warm up and challenge 1 and traveled 1.25 miles/60 flights, then to the TM for challenge 2 running, for 2.25 miles (walked the 2 minutes in between), then bike for challenge 3 and cool down for 5.20 miles. Calorie burn was 635 calories, 45% fat, max HR 182, avg 148 (b/c I forgot to turn it off for cool down). My zone is set at 171-192 beats and I was in that for 18 minutes. Total workout time, with cool down, was 1:08.

I have not decided what to do today. It will be weights though, finally! I want to take it easy so that I don't hurt the shoulder b/c I can't wait to start with a bang on Monday!

Diane Sue - so, you think that rotation would do ok? I have not ever done P90X. And I have already told myself that I will be doing your style of cooking starting Monday. We will see if that happens :p At least the plan is there! I think if I mark some recipes, go to the store, then I might carry through sometimes at least.

Debbie - hope your mom's surgery goes well. And I love plate work! I had such a fun class at the gym that utilized the slides and learned to love it then. There are some very cool things you can do with them.

Theresa - have fun with whatever workout you choose!

Debbie, best wishes for your mom's surgery!

Yesterday's workout, late in the evening as usual, was MTV Yoga, which doesn't seem as hard to me as it used to since I've been doing live classes. It's a nice workout, though. I got to bed at midnight last night, verses one a.m. the night before. I need to try not to get to bed too late because come fall semester I'll be teaching pretty early at least three days a week.

Shana - I went back and read yesterdays thread. Wow, you are falling apart! LOL! I thought I was bad! The hook that's in your shoulder, isn't there anything they can do about it? Wow, that sounds painful. I hope it doesn't give you problems anymore. I've been dealing with shoulder and knee pain lately. It really sucks to get old!

Where's Char?

I got my workout in, but it was a real challenge since the grandbaby came really early. I would turn around and she would be standing on my bench or I was tracking down my equipment. Anyway I did STS back and triceps disc 2 meso 1, I started with the STS warm up then paused and did AOS Empire State
w/up round mountain climber, russian twist, chest press
rnd 1 swings, half get up, suitcase row
rnd 2 lunge cocktail, side plank, super plank
rnd 4 1 leg deadlift to a row, janda sit up, triceps extensions
(I tried to keep with the back, triceps, and abs along with some lower body) I then finished back and triceps, went on to do Abs Circuits weights and plates abs, and pilates abs, then Tracey's Yoga solutions w/up and standing series 16 minutes. Total calories burned is 663 55% fat

Shana, I think you can use P90X. You would just need to adjust your rep range for either endurance if you are on Mesocycle 1 etc.. They all work at different speeds and reps during the workouts so you can adapt it to fit what you need

Debbie, I have noticed that Charlotte has been absent a lot lately.

Hi Maniacs-

This morning I did Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Upper Body, Lower Body and Mission Upper Body Specialist. Workout was 1 hour 20" and I burned 764. My heart rate ranged from 120-160. I had a great workout and it was fun.

I'm off today, but I'm going to the foot doctor in a bit here for my problem I've been having.

Deb - hope your Mom's surgery goes well.

Shana - sorry to hear about your injury. I hate doctors!

Have great workouts everyone.

My Fluidity Bar came today. I have to figure out how to set it up, etc.

Thanks, Debbie and Lora! It does suck but it's ok. Debbie - I guess they could do surgery but I don't care to go that route. It was not mentioned yesterday. I am going to start swimming drills and perfect technique. As for lifting, it really isn't an issue other than that darned popping sometimes and some minor pain sometimes. Elbows pop too in tricep work. Knees pop too on the bike. Oy!

Thanks, Diane Sue for the info. I will just play with it as I go and see. And way to go getting the workout done. Some days, I don't know how you do it.

Today, I did 4DS biceps and triceps and then TS Circuit Zone biceps and triceps, leaving out the tricep extensions and kickbacks since those were repeats, then did abs from 4DS kickbox.

Char has been busy - posting some on FB so I keep up with her that way!

Along with Char, where's Patti?

Debbie - I hope your Mom's surgery goes well. And sorry to tell you those plate exercises do not go away in Meso 2, but at least you don't have to go all the way to the floor to get the weights, you just hold them.

Today was Meso 2 Disc 17 Triset Legs. Had a tough workout in I had a difficult time getting my equipment together. Then I thought I was missing some of my Pace weights , but it just turns out that I cannot count to 18.
Anyway workout 54 minutes and I burn 437 calories.

Just finished mowing the lawn while listen to CCV8 and next thing I knew I was jogging behind my mower:p. That workout was 1:05 and I burned 453.
For a total of 890 calories.

Has anyone purchased the perfect pull up bar. I was looking at it and thinking it might be a nice addition to my workouts. Although actual pullups generally seem to cause me some wrist issues. I sometimes put a bar across my vertical knee raise tower and do pull ups that way.

Shana, one of the last times I went for a physical I had them x ray my foot to see if something was wrong because it felt much worse than the plantar fasciitis. They said I had a bone spur. Also a cyst on the side which I thought was something else. But it has all improved by cutting down on some of the impact, new shoes, and taking care of my feet:)

Diane Sue- I bought the iron gym pullup bar and find it very easy to use. They make iron woody bands that attach to any pull up bar to give some assistance. Maybe that would keep the wrist issues at bay?

I've decide to do yoga today. I am super sore, tired, and cranky. I literally did not sit down for more than 10 minutes at work today. I'll do a TB circuit tomorrow which will kill two birds with one stone.

I also got p90x on ebay and think this will be my next endeavor. Has anyone else used it?
Shana-maybe we could start p90x together. I could use some competition and accountability :)

Have a great evening everyone.
Theresa

Theresa, thanks. I will check those out ;) I did a P90X rotation and followed phase one of the eating plan pretty much to the letter and got great results. I have also used it in conjunction with some other workouts in a rotation. I hate all of those push ups so did one mixed with other workouts to eliminate some of those push ups:D

Diane Sue - I have what Theresa has and love it. You can also get straps free (shipping costs only) and do hanging leg raises. Glad your foot issues went away. I have been thinking and thinking on mine and wondering what set it off and it got worse after I did a rotator cuff exercise on top of the extra swimming. Hoping maybe that was it.

Lora - what do you think of your fluidity bar? I sure did want one a while back. They look really neat.

Patti has posted a couple of times on facebook. Guess she is busy too!

Teddygirl - all the best with the move, and congrats on the house.

Linda - I smiled to think of you running along behind your lawn mower :)

Theresa - I make no promises on P90X once I get started. And I will be doing it every other week. But sure, let's go for it if you want to!

Linda - I smiled to think of you running along behind your lawn mower :)

At one point my neighbor came over and saw me. I must have looked pretty stupid doing a semi run in place kind of thing behind my mower. She must think I am nuts and I can only imagine what she said to her husband when she went home.:p

Teddy
- Congratulations on the new house!:D:D:D
