Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 2/2

Today was cardio and I chose Kenpo X. I like this workout but it sure doesn't get my HR up. At one point where he checks his HR he says, "I'm at 160" I looked at mine and it was at 110. WTH? The highest it got was 139 bpm so I don't get it. I wasn't even sweating. My HR was the highest when the breaks were happening.

HR STATS:
59 minutes total
16 minutes below zone
24 minutes in zone
19 minutes above zone
403 calories burned

I actually can't believe I got into the 400 calorie range.

Debbie-that was my main issue w/ Kenpo also. Good work :D

Yesterday was weights and steady state. I did supersets and then Rumble for my cardio
All weight work was 3x15
1-lunge(15's need to go higher)
one arm row 25

2-shelc (ball curl in)
alt chest press on ball 15's

3-squat 65# this really bothered my knees. I was super crunchy
rotation press 8's

4-one leg deadlift 25#
ball roll outs

I ordered some Ropes Gone Wild and will be using them on Saturday w/ kettlebell work. I also got the Kettlebell Way:Empire State. It looks like a great video.

Morning Maniacs -

Back to work today after 2 days off...ugh. My exercise ADD was on a rampage this morning. I did parts of 3 different dance workouts. Part of Masala Bhangra, Bellyfit Earth & 10 Min Sol Dance Mix w/ Jen Galardi. I actually sort of liked the Masala one. I've never done Indian style dance before, but it was sort of easy to pick up and got the HR up pretty good. They weren't as easy as I thought they'd be. Max HR was 156 and I burned 580 calories in 64".

Have great workouts everyone.

Theresa - you ordered the actual ropes? Yay! Let me know how you like them. I've wanted them but don't think I have the room. I use a large beach towel when I do the rope segments....not quite the same but the only modification I've ever heard of.

Deb -I had the same problem with Kenpo X. I add some plyo moves and double time with running and that always worked. Also, I REALLY put my body into the punches and punch as hard as possible. It helps to make noise....LOL. :)

What kind of protein powder is the best?

Lora-I did the Bhangra Masala from Fit TV; It was a nice change of pace. I second the Dymatize Elite protein powder (I have the chocolate mint and vanilla). I use their whey protein after workouts. At night I use Optimum Nutrition Casein Powder b/c it digests slowly which is good for night. If you are tired of the standard flavors, check out Scivation or Syntrax. They have flavors like lemonade, fuzzy navel, etc...Now one of them is a bcaa powder and the other is a protein powder, but I can't remember which is which. Check out allstarthealth.com b/c they have great prices.

And yeah, I got the ropes which came with the Santa Monica DVD. I went with the 30' b/c space is an issue for me also. I plan to use them in the garage so 15' on each side should be plenty.

I got up really early to get the workout in and have time to shower etc. Some roads were not to bad. It was these country roads and the housing areas that were bad. I actually got to the girls house a little early. Glad I did because they were going for their usual time to leave and I had to light a fire under them LOL They are saying more sleet possible at the end of the week and I saw snow in the forcast. I sure hope that is not happening

Tomorrow I will try to get my running around done and stock back up here. I have two of the grandchildren here today since they do not have school.
Workout was Shock Training HiiT 40/20 30 minutes and burned 260 cal, Max HR 172. I then did Insanity Cardio Abs...(this is about half the time of Insane abs. 17 minutes, 119 cal, Max HR 161. I still had a little time so did MMA boxing abs/core using 8# dumbbells 8 minutes, 50 cal burned. Total time 55 minutes ;calories 429

Debbie, I remember that about Kempo X. I am like Lora, I added some intensity even during the rests to get my HR up a little more. Kempo + is better IMO. My grandkids like to do Kempo X and I think it is because it isn't so tough. You still got a nice calorie burn.

Theresa, I will be interested in seeing what you think of the ropes. Empire State is probably my favorite AOS workout that I do. Newport really works the core a lot. I don't have Santa Monica.

Lora - I use mostly BSN and ON whey protein powders. However, I recently got a vanilla whey powder from Walmart which I really like. It only has like 4 g. of carbs in it. Also, with Kenpo, I do put my all into the punches and kicks. More then they do. I still can't get my HR up on that one. I still like the workout, though.

Diane Sue - Nice workouts! I agree with what you say about Kenpo, when he was doing the rest periods and doing the jogging and jacks, I gave it my all just to get my HR up. I'm actually surprised it's not a harder workout.

Theresa - Did you order the T-bar yet? Nice workout today!

Hi Roselyn and Linda!

Debbie-the t-bar attachment is on my list, but I have not got it yet. It will probably have to wait a few more weeks. That was a pretty good price though :p I ordered a bike trainer for DH for valentine's day (which I will use also) and the ropes gone wild which I am SUPER excited about.

Diane Sue-the Santa Monica has the option for ropes or no ropes and it seems like a similar format to the other AOS series. I really think Empire State looks great. How long is the maneater section?

theresa

Theresa, I believe the manmaker is 8 min for one time through. Otherwise x2 and x3 is twice and triple that. I have only done it one time through.

Theresa - Really excited about your rope purchase. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Slept horribly last night (due to a head cold) even after I took Benedryl at 1 am. Phone rang at 4:30 am with the new that DH's grandmother had passed away. Got out of bed at 5 am feeling like crap, don't know if it was the cold, the Benedryl, or the lack or sleep or all the above. But the only thing i could muster was Lower Intensity Step cardio only. Even that made me feel really dizzy.:confused::confused: Then I spent the rest of the day until now painting my bedroom.

Linda-sorry you had such a crappy chain of events. My heart goes out to you and DH in your time of loss. Did you find out whether you broke your hand or not?

And p.s. you are a one woman machine w/ house stuff; I am always impressed by everything you do :p And I'll give a full report on the ropes a.s.a.p I should get them Monday.

Theresa

Linda, sorry about your loss. I will be praying for you and your family. Those kind of nights are some of the worst. I would imagine the workout helped with gettting going this morning. And look at you, painting the bedroom. That is a lot of work.

Sometimes I feel like a machine! I started my painting at 9 am this morning by promptly spilling a gallon of gray primer, and did not officially put my brush down until 8:30 pm. Now there were to breaks in there - one to pick up DD from school and another to take her to gymnastics, but the rest of the time I spent painting. Sad part is I am not done.:(:(:(

And no I did not hear from the doctor today regarding my hand. I am just so glad it is not the right hand or I'd be a basket case not able to do anything!

Thanks DianeSue (and Theresa) for the prayers. His grandmother has been sick for the past five years, so this has been a long time in the coming. Just sad that first my Uncle, now DH's grandmother, and from the looks of things DH's Great Aunt (grandmother's sister) won't be far behind (BTW, she's 95).
