Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 1/5

So today was suppose to be cardio but last night when I went to bed I had a hellacious headache. Woke up with the same hellacious headache. I went downstairs and watched GH in hopes it would ease up and I could do my workout. Nope. So I went back to bed for an hour and now I'm feeling guilty about not plugging through.

Maybe when I get home from work I'll hop on my treadmill and do a short Cardio Coach. I just know that when I get home from work I have no desire to workout. So we shall see. I hate when this happens.

GM Ladies-
Yesterday was weights and steadys state. I chose IN THE RING and did combos 1 and 2.
SS1-one leg bb squats, pullover to press, squat to bench jumps, close grip bb press
SS2-overhead rear lunges (these caused numbness again and I am switching next week), chin ups (I try but I really, really suck at chinups), decline bench press, ball push ups

Debbie-I wouldn't feel too bad; it can be hard to move let alone do some form of pounding cardio. I had sinus headaches last week 3 + days in a row and I had to wait until they subsided until I did anything. Hope it gets better.

Morning Maniacs -

Ugh...did not want to roll out of bed again.....let alone work out! This weather's making it really tough to want to move in the AM. So stiff and achy with my pain flaring.

I did Brazi Butt Lift Cardio Axe and Leslie's Slim Walk with 2 pound weights. Workout was 50 minutes and I burned 510 calories. Max HR was only 150....which is odd cuz last time I did Cardio Axe it was higher.

Deb - I hear ya on the headache. I've had a migraine for 3 days now. I might break down and take some Imitrex today. I think the weather is causing it with this deep freeze. Hope you feel better soon.

Have great workouts everyone.

Debbie - Sorry about your headache. Hope it feels better now.

Theresa
- Where do you get numbness?

Lora - Hope the aches & Pains ease up soon!

This morning I did SC 40/20 and it nearly killed me. That is one tough work out. I was definitely puke status by the end. My max HR was 191.

Oooh Linda I'm scared...that was the workout I was going to do today, how bad is it really? I may do double wave pyramids...but good workout :D

I get numbness in my fingers especially my left thumb. I lowered the weight to see if that helped and tried adjusting my hand position but I still had it. I have not figured out why overhead squats and lunges are any better than the standard.

Theresa
, not to scare you completely, but it was harder than I thought it would be. You just may find yourself hitting the rewind button as you were quite ready to start again when they did.:p All in all, since Cathe does not really include a cool down on these (and I have no idea why, seems stupid not to do it) the whole work out took me 33 minutes to get through including a few minutes to cool down. It's running time is 29 minutes.

Sounds like you have a nerve beening pinched in your shoulder. When my shoulders are at there worse it is my hands (especially the right) that go numb for me. Fortunately my massage therapist helps a lot.

Oh and here is why OH Squats & Lunges are better:

The Overhead Squat (OHS) sits at the royal roundtable of the most efficient and rewarding weightlifting exercises. It works the entire body, increases strength, power, flexibility, coordination, and develops postural lean mass, which should be a priority for any intelligent bipedal.

The OHS appears deceptively simple; yet learning it can be very challenging. Even though it is designed, as all the Olympic-style weightlifting exercises are, to put the entire body through its most ergonomically engineered paces, it is nevertheless an unnatural movement.

Seems to work everything!

I went to bed early last night and really slept. Had a hard time getting up this morning. I really wanted to get in a decent workout:confused: Anyway I did Step Moves stopping at the stretch(calories burned were not good) so I put in Athletic Step and because time was limited I stopped partway into the 3rd combo and did the stretch. Workout was 1 hr 5 minutes and I burned 427 calories. Max HR was only 149 today. Just couldn't get it up there. I am not feeling that great so that is probably why. At least Id did something.

Debbie, I almost never am able to push myself to go workout later in the day. I am a morning exerciser and that is all there is to it. Sorry you have that headache. I started getting one when I was out taking the girls to school and running errands. I didn't want to go to the store etc but really needed to stock up on veggies and some meal items. Bought some bison. I have never eaten it. I hope I like it. I see recipes using it in the clean eating cookbook. The Super Target I went to today is now carrying a lot of healthier choices for meats and stuff. I am sure I will be back there shopping more often.

Theresa, have you talked to Olesya about the numbness. I think I would be modifying the exercise.

Lora, my hr varys on workouts. I keep a log of it and usually even if it lags some my calorie burns are not that different. Also I think it just depends on how energetic I am feeling when doing the workout.

Linda, my Max HR with 40/20 was 164, and 30/30 was 162. But I really felt like I was working hard . I did 40/20 after 30/30 though. I was afraid of the Double Wave Pyramid one after previewing it. For me that was a pretty high HR.

Linda - I'm surprised to hear you want to continue with P90X but I think that's great. I sort of wish I would have continued with it but doing one more pushup just didn't appeal to me. You go girl!!! And nice job on today's workout!!! I now sort of wish I would have purchased STS Cardio. I'm hearing so many good things about it.

Theresa - The one thing that someone told me about chinups that really helped me was concentrate on pulling yourself up with your back muscles, not your arms. You'll be amazed at how much easier they are doing it that way. Your arms assist you, but shouldn't be the main way to pull yourself up. Just concentrate. It works!

Lora - I can relate about the weather. I so miss summer. And my motorcycle. :(

Diane Sue - There isn't much difference in taste with bison versus regular beef. It just cooks faster so make sure you watch that. I love bison and now that you say that, I have some at home. It's hard to find. I get mine at Heinens and it's like $10 for 4 patties.

Debbie, wow on the cost of the bison burgers. I have seen it here at Walmart and then today found it at Target Super Center for $5.99 a pound. I will probably cook some today for dinner:)

Walmart has bison? Wow, where abouts in the store? Near the freezer section or where they keep the meats? I'll have to look, I never looked there because I didn't think they'd carry that. Are yours frozen or fresh?

Debbie, they sell it in the meats section and it is fresh. What I got today at Target was the same way. Funny, we have a neighbor across from us that has a pet bison with several longhorns. Everyone says they bought it when it was a baby. My granddaghter whould be mad at me because she calls that Bison Buffalo Bill LOL

Today I did chest, shoulders and biceps STS.

I am looking for a heart monitor any suggestions? Do they all go around your chest, I really have never used one?

Roselyn, here is a link to the heartrate monitor I really want
http://www.amazon.com/Polar-Womens-...TF8&coliid=I1Q38PFERIIP4P&colid=1YWOTF69BDZ1E
You can change the batteries yourself. I really did like my Polar F-11 but you are supposed to send it in to get the batteries changed. I used it all of the time though and the batteries lasted a year and a half.
These have a strap. There are ones that you can use without a strap but you have to stop and put your fingers on it to get your hr.. I like having the continuous HR though so I can see where I am at. My preference also is one that shows calories burned as well. I am sure you will get lots of recommendations. Right now I am using a Polar F6 but I don't think it is as accurate as my last one.

Roselyn-I got a Polar F4 off ebay and it works well. It measure time, avg hr, max hr, and calories burned. I want to say I got it for around $60.00

MMA boxing is nice. It is not too high impact and the combos are easy to pick up. She does some lower body drills using tubing or imaginary tubing that can spike the hr quite well.

Roselyn, I have done MMA Boxing 3 times in it and think it will probably be my favorite of the MMA workouts. It has not been bad for my knee issues I have had lately even with the jumping lower body drills. Most of it is upper and non impact. I like the way Cathe does the bonus heavybag too.

Hello ladies,

wow, bison...never tried it. Is it that much healthier? I pretty much never used to eat meat, but now that I do some cooking for a whole household, I make meat regularly. For ground beef, I get teh 4% fat, which seems to be the leanest available.

So today I did Supersets, and I'm having to work out not in the evening, as I teach in the evening M-R. I definitely prefer to workout in the evening, so this is a bit of an adjustment. It's nice, though, to do it earlier and then feel accomplished for longer.

I'm looking for a place to do yoga that's really close to home and that doesn't involve getting on the freeway. (I think I'll still keep going to the far-away place occasionally, though, to visit with my friend.) Unfortnately, though, the options for places that don't involve the freeway are pretty limited. I went to a place yesterday that I found alright, nothing special, but it was not in a heated room, not at *all* heated, in fact, it was a bit cold, and we didn't do a lot of vinyasa to build up heat. I had to get my jacket for savhasana. Anyway, I've got a week free so I'm going tomorrow and also Saturday. I hope I end up feeling better about it.
