Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 1/12

Today was cardio and I felt good enough to tackle a new workout I just got. It's by Tracey Staehle (sp?) and it's called Cardio Kickbox Challenge. AWESOME WORKOUT! I'm telling you, Cathe better watch out. This girl is good and the workout was so damn fun. I think this is the best KB workout I've ever done. Tracey also did StrikeZone which is another one of my favorites. There were about 6 different combos and they were easy to follow and high in intensity. It was kick ass!

HR STATS:
61 minutes total
3 minutes below zone
16 minutes in zone
41 minutes above zone
487 calories burn!!!!

I like my stats. The stretch at the end was really nice too and I'll stretch again tonight. That is doing wonders for me!

GM Ladies-
Yesterday was weights and steady state
SS1-one leg bb squats (up 5#), pullover to press, squat to bench jumps, bb close grip (up 5#)

ss2-overhead rear lunges (down 5 #-these bother my shoulder but I want to at least try), chin ups, decline bench press (up 5#), swiss ball push ups

Then I did warm up and combo 1 of athletic step and walked the dog :D

Debbie-Nice workout. I did some of that video Saturday and it is fun. It throws me off b/c some of the music is the same as Kelley's video. I'm glad the stretching is helping as well, I've got to get better about that myself.

Theresa

Debbie - Thanks for the review, glad to hear it's awesome. Makes me want to go pop in one of my two copies right now!:p Also glad you were feeling up to it today, sorry to hear about the pain you had the other day!

Theresa
- Nice job on all the weight increase for your sets!

Okay I am just going to say it: Would it really have hurt Cathe to film an extra two minutes and put a cool down in the Shock Cardio workouts? I mean I have to spend the two minutes anyway so its not like she's saving me time! Okay rant over!:D

That being said...I did Cardio Core Circuit and lets just say Cathe kick my butt the morning. My max HR was 189 and according to my HRM monitor I burned 828 calories. Now I know that's not right but based on the fact that it usually reads about 200 calories more per workout than my old one you are still talking in the range of the high 500s hundreds to the low 600s for a calorie burn in 53 minutes.

Also yesterday I continued with week 9 of P90X with Chest & Back. Tried to post it yesterday and lost my post halfway through so I got mad and walked away. When I tried to repost later my kids wouldn't stop bugging me! Anyway, I used two heavy bands & a light for the pullups & chinups and push up handles for, well, the pushups. The handles were great for my wrist but boy did my chest get worked. I have have some serious DOMS and the pushup moves in Cardio Core Circuit today just about killed me!

Morning Maniacs -

I work late tonight, so obviously I did not want to get out of bed this morning early....so I had to skip yoga again today. I didn't feel like working out either, but I had a good workout. I feel like I'm either coming down with a cold, have severe sinus issues or an ear infection...as I feel fluid in my head and my glands are swollen. I guess it's not so bad that I slept in then, right?

I did Tubo Kick - Volume 23. Max HR was 172 and I burned 580 calories in 52 minutes. I added on Denise Austin's Body Makeover Stretch 10".

I'm so mad that my Tracey dvd didn't come. I LOVE Strikezone and thought for sure it would be here today. I emailed them and they got my paypal payment, but somehow overlooked my order, so they have to wait for more to come in before I get mine. They offered me a free dvd, but I have all of Tracey's dvds already. Oh well.

Deb - great workout. I'm glad you liked it. I love Strike Zone also! I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I've also been suffering with a lot of stiffness, spasm with this extremely cold weather. How are liking GH?

Diane Sue - what happened with your legs that you are having problems? I see you keep mentioning that you are doing lower impact due to issues....but I must have missed what they are.

Hi to everyone else.

To the Kettlebellers - found this on Skwigg's Blog - proper way to do a swing. I liked this guy.

Also - meant to ask - has anyone here ever had a pair of Puma's? I liked Tracie Long's shoes so much in her new vid's that I looked into it and found out they were Puma's. I ordered a pair from Zappos, but they run small and I had to order the size larger (which is a bit too big - problem I have with some lines - but they might be okay). The description said nothing other than running shoes and good arch support. However, I've found they are excellent for my plantar fasciitis and also excellent for lateral support while doing cardio. Anyone else?

Theresa - Nice workout! I love supersets, get the job done in half the time.

Linda - I'm shocked you haven't tried CKBC workout yet. You have to do it soon. And LOL on receiving two! I'm glad to hear the pushup bars are helping. I always use dumbbells when I do pushups because my wrists bother me too. How was it going back to the Chest and Back workout? And I've heard complaints about Cathe not putting a cool down in with the STS cardi workouts. I wonder why that was?

Lora - GH is ok, I wish they'd get a move on with some of these storylines. Nice workout!! And I've never owned a pair of Puma's.

Diane Sue - I'll check ebay for a foam roller. I really do need to get one. Thanks!

- Only reason I haven't done CKBC is I am still watching my shoulders, but I am planning to do it in place of Kenpo X this week. Actually going back to Chest & Back wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's also nice to know I get a break from it next week before having to do it again. I was using DBs sometimes for pushups but they rolled sometimes and didn't have gushy padded handles.:p I have no idea why Cathe dropped the cool down, I mean she has you sucking wind like no tomorrow and then says okay were are going stretch so you just pause for a minute or two then join us. Granted peoples recovery times are different and some may need longer but she could have put something in and then if I needed more I could pause.

Also - for those that like TurboJam - you'd love the Turbokicks. They are more intense and have funky music. she has them available on her site as Fan Volumes to the general public.

- Thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out I love Turbo Jam. Also, sorry I have never owed Pumas.

I started my workout today with Rachel Cosgroves Female Body Breakthrough w/up then Base Phase workout A, not a lot of weights in this one. It took long because I had to check back in the book to see how she wanted some things done. With the w/up workout was 1 hr and I burned 325 calories. I then did STS Step Moves burning 351 calories, followed with Amy's Step Challenge 3 stretch 13 min and 14 min foam roller work. Total calories burned was 758, workout time was 2 hr 12 min including the 27 min stretching and Max HR was 151.
workout today
W/up takes me about 15 minutes which includes some jumping, band walks, and stretching(band walks hurt my knee

)
then base phase workout A 3 sets of 12 reps all
Bird Dog- was easy on hands and knees so I did them in a plank position
forward ball rollouts
step ups- I used a 16 inch step and 15# handweights(afraid of going to heavy12 each leg
3 point dumbbell row-30# 12 each side
partial co contraction lunge-12 each leg
incline push up/push up-set one incline felt easy so did them on the floor
hip thigh extension- I added 5# ankle weights 12 each
bent over reverse fly- 12 # dumbbells(this was supposed to take 60 sec. I went to fast on the first set so had to slow down

Linda - What kind of pushup handlebars did you get?? I'm curious now. And just so you know, my shoulder is a bit tender right now due to the kickboxing workout so be careful. I wore my 1# weighted gloves and probably shouldn't have.

Lora - Thanks for the Turbo Jam recommendations. I've been wanting to get a few of these workouts. I need to do that, but they are so expensive.

I forgot to mention that after reading a thread on open discussion about hr monitors not keeping the hr, I tried putting some saline solution on the contact points and mine seems to be giving me better readings. (Someone said polar said to spit on it and I don't really want to do that) I am now doing around Cathe's calorie burns and my HR isn't dropping to nothing. The other day(before I read this) when I did Double Wave Pyramid I was gasping and it said my hr was 51:confused: I went and wiped everything down and started over.

Debbie, I love that workout too. I did it Saturday. Did the 20 min mix before my granddaughters and I went out. Then after granddaughters left I was really wanting to do the whole thing so I did all over again:D I burned 441 calories and thought that was good for me since I am being really cautious with the kicks.

Theresa, nice job on the weights:)

Lora, I had Pumas years ago. I remember them being big and loose in the heel. They have probably changed since then though. I am not sure about the knee. It is the same one I had this happen to about a year ago and I was doing similar workouts together. I was doing loads of kettlebell swings and treadmill hills. I was ok this time till I added in a taller step for step ups and started doing Rachel's Metabolic workouts too. This along with the Insanity workouts that I have. It is the knee I had surgury on after a car accident had left me with a cyst on it. I think I overtrained it and I also had lowered the time spent on stretching.
Thanks for the link. I will go check it out:D

Linda, the no cool down doesn't really bother me. I know I read the complaints on open discussion. My Hr goes down really fast unless I am sick or something. It does kind of bug to have the instructor say pause and cool down some more if you need to though. It makes me think, maybe I am supposed to do that. You know what I mean?
Good idea with the push up bars. I through mine out when we moved because the cushy stuff was starting to crumble off on my hands and the floor. I hate working through injuries. I have done that core circuit workout once. Planning on doing it tomorrow morning myself:D

Debbie - DH got my pushup handles from Dicks, they are Fitness Gear which I think is just Dick's line of fitness products. BTW, Dick's is also where DH got my 36" Go Fit foam roller from last year. And I won't be doing CKBC with weighted gloves just yet, especially the first time through.

- My HR drops fast too so it's not so much about HR for me but rather I like that extra minute of air before I stretch. Like this morning CCC took me 53 minutes which included me rewinding a couple of times and the pause to cool down and it's 51 minute video. I guess as a trainer and for the money I paid for the videos I feel she could have filmed a couple of extra minutes. I also guess I consider the masses, I know the videos are geared for the advanced exerciser but it's not like you have to have a license or pass a fit test to purchase them so the workout should provide a cool down to at least try to ensure peoples HRs are sufficiently lowered before stretching. Final thing that bugs me about it is the cover says, let's say, a 28 minute workout and I chose it because it's only 28 minutes, but then it's really not 28 minutes because now I have to add the time to cool down. I like facts on the box to be true. Okay I am done ranting, AGAIN!:p

Linda, that totally makes sense to me. And the masses may not know they need that extra cooldown. So, yes it should probably have been added. And when I am limited on time it does bother me when a dvd is off by a couple of minutes. Makes a difference on whether I am late for whatever I have to do. I guess I wasn't thinking beyond how it affects my workouts.

I just bought a pull up door attachment. Thing stinks. I put it all together and tried it and I have to put it in the bathroom doorway or other workout area. Not my main workout room. Doesn't fit. I need lots of room around the door.
