Hi Ann - I think we posted at the same time

Morning Fit Ladies -

This morning I forced myself to take a rest day. I did Dancin the Chakras - Shake Your Chakras premix and repeated segments to make it 40 minutes and then did Shiva Rea's Fluid Power - Dancing Warrior, Mandala Namaskar I & II, Backbending Vinyasa, Forward bends/twists and shavasana. This usually is my favorite rest day workout....but my DH pretty much ruined it for me.

I woke up with a pretty positive attitude this morning and the first thing out of DH's mouth was him questioning my decision yesterday. There was 1 full time job I could bump in the hospital as a Registrar. The dept is open 7 days a week and 24 hours, so I'd have to work shifts, weekends and holidays. Since I have low seniority, I"m sure I'd get stuck with all of the "crap" hours, holidays, etc. DH & I have always discussed this in the past and we have both agreed that at age 47, I'm not just going to take a job like that - unless my unemployment ran out and I was forced too....but while I'm actively looking and have some form of income, I was supposed to find something dayturn, etc.

So basically, now I"m all messed up in the head and I'm doubting my decision and my positive attitude is shot to heck....especially after he reminded me of the fact that I'll have to take something like that if i'm forced to and have no money coming in (which I already know....but I was trying to be positive and not think that way).

So, needless to say, I really didn't get into my yoga this morning and half way thru, I wanted to go put my Saucony's on and do some kickboxing aerobics to get all of this frustration out of me....but I didn't. So, you know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

I'm sorry to bring everyone down with all of my problems....but I needed to vent. I'm starting to get depressed now. I really don't want to have to collect unemployment and I would love to have a job in 3 weeks, but I'm not sure if that's a realistic goal.

Well....I better get doing the stuff around here that needs done.

Have great workouts or rest days and thanks for listening. I'll be back later.

Lora, DH is upposed to cover your butt in time of need. I work for me nd money for the kids. I really would not have to if i wanted to stay home, drive a hoopdie and ask for everythng.(sew my underwear) But , i don't pay the bills at home.He makes plenty to take care of us.It would be the exras i wouldn't get.
Vent all you want... some times we need it...

Hey Lora...probably not what you want to hear from DH and I agree he should support you in your time of need. And yes...you deserve a job that fits your needs. I just still can't believe you lost your job, especially after hearing you only took 2 days in 2 years off for a sick day. That is basically unheard of. If you took that registrar position could you then keep your seniority and bump into a position that would be better for you when one came up? Or are you thinking that is probably not worth waiting around for? I'm with ya on the shift work though...I hated working 7p to 7a, and it lasted years, I finally had enough seniority the last yearI worked at the hospital to go to days..then left. And working weekends just is the pitts!! We support your decision no matter what!

Anne you are too funny with the hoopdie and sewing your underwear. Yes....I could never do that..I like not having to explain why my face cream costs 35 dollars.

Well, I'm putting off Kenpo...I'm just so hungry, I need my eggs and some energy, along with some ibuprofen so I'm not hunched over from yesterday's back workout. Geez...or maybe it's my abs so broken I can support my upper half. I might be doing too much with abripx right now..

More later,
AMber

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

I woke up to some very good DOMS in my behindola! Lovely! It is working. Got to say I miss working with the heavy weights though so next time I will do some of my own lower body work with P90X legs/back...I want it all!!!!lol. Today, is it Kenpo X? If so, what the heck is that??? Will I suffer???? lol. Sounds like a scary name. Very bionic and such.

Storm,

Did you say something about OIL? lol. Yeah, it has gone to my brain. I think I accidentally inhaled. Oh, my! HELP! Want some?

I hope your tum tum starts feeling better. Fish? Ew. You like? Me no like. I had some yesterday too. Tuna Fish. Last bite, almost came back up. I have to force it down towards the end. I kept telling myself..this is for my abs. EAT!

You are superwoman. Actually, you are STORM, remember? You get it all done and then some. You manage your time, every last second of it and you STILL get in your workouts even if late in evening. And you do damn good at it too. You inspire me like no tomorrow.

Lora,

You are not bringing me down. I hear ya. Feel free to discuss it as much as you want if it makes you feel better.

Charlotte~~

Amber,

You survived yesterday's workout? Whenever we do the pullups, I feel weak compared to the other women. I am gonna push harder next time. I would like to get to 8 pullups unassisted. So far, only 7 max. BTW, I don't sew my underwear and pretty soon I will have to hide all my perfumes so dh doesn't realize just how many I have. I don't even know how many!!!! lol. My soaps should be coming in the mail any day. Enough soap for a year, at least!

Have fun Kenpo'n. Whatever that is. Yoga? Cardio? Please no more yoga. Please.

Charlotte~~

Char, tum , tum is emptying out. I know it was the crab stuffed fish.I am going to have some mellow food today.
I luve tuna, mahi, mahi, salmon. For some reason this gave me the biggest gut ache . It felt like a knife in the lower belly.
Well, gotta get a bath. Off to work.

The way I'm basically looking at it, is that I'm really low with seniority at 2 years and 10 months and if the hospital is downsizing as severely as they say, who's to say I won't get bumped out of the next position I take? Plus, I lost all respect for that place for the way they handled this. I just don't want to make a mistake by leaving...but I don't want to stay just for them to file bankruptcy and lose my job with everyone else or get bumped again. There was ONLY the one FT job under me, the rest were part-time, so who's to say someone with 4 years wouldn't bump me out of the FT shift job? right? I just want to work somewhere where I can stay until I retire and I'm hoping God will take care of me if I do the foot work, but the DH has me losing my faith with all of his negative talk and I think he's having some serious doubts with his faith right now because of how I keep getting "kicked when I'm down" so to speak.

I have to go put groceries away. I'll be back. thanks for listening.

He must be trying to be nice to me cuz he bought the Hinder CD at Walmart when he went to the store (but it was on special too).

HI all.

Char...that's great that you can even do 7!!! I'm gonna wait till after the holidays and buy the chin-up bar, cause I know I'm nowhere close to doing one. I will be doing the weight machine lat tower, I did a few last night after I finished with 40# and I'm feeling it today.

Anne...I love Mahi..seared tuna is my fav with the sesame seeds on it. The closest place I can find good seafood is Whole foods which is 30 miles away in Ann arbor. Wish we had one closer, I love that place, great seafood and veggie burgers.

Lora..you are probably right on about the bumping, sounds like that will be going on for awhile until things settle down, chances are you would be bumped again. I have to admit I hated the beaurocratic bullshit surrounding hospital jobs. Although DH still works at one, and the benefits are the only reason he sticks around...and thank god he has great insurance, because my company is so small we don't even offer it.

Alright...time to get busy, I've been shopping online all morning.

Great day all.
bbl,

Morning Maniacs and Ho'domettes alike!

Today is a I-have-know-idea workout. I'll probably do the GS tris and whatever it is. I really need to figure out what to do the rest of the month. No December rotation without my DVD's! Still can't believe my daughter sent them to Cathe by mistake. She had them in the original box, and told the Post Office to send them back to the same address (meaning mine), so I'm thinking the post office sent them back as a return. Oh well, we'll see what happens. Like Suz (that lil smart @ss) said last night, maybe I won't get them until the new ones are sent out. :p

Later Crazies!! Gotta go eat my oatmeal.

This morning I did my treadmill with all of Cardio Coach #2 and then did Challenge #3 from Cardio Coach #3. Love these sprinting challenges, they are so fun. These two workouts lasted about 40 minutes so I stayed on my treadmill and did a steady state for 20 more minutes. Workout was 1 hr. 5 minutes, was in my zone for 51 minutes and burned 351 calories.

I can't believe how tight my jeans are getting. I'm hoping its muscle gain. Its mostly in my upper thighs, my jeans are loose in my waist area. Not sure I like this, though, even if it is muscle.

Hubby's company Christmas party is tonight, hoping to eat well there like I did last weekend at my party. We shall see if they even have healthy food where we are going, some Moose lounge somewhere.

Have great workouts everyone!

Adding this from the other thread in case it's missed.

Suz- Here are some links for bands

People really like this one, but it's not what I have.http://www.performbetter.com/detail.aspx?ID=3889&CategoryID=358

Here's an example of how to use a band assist

http://www.uwlax.edu/strengthcenter/videos/exercisevideos/assisted_chin.mpg

Here are the Beachbody bands, I used the green band. I was able to slip the bar through the handles, so make sure you can do it that way. I bought the extreme package and I can't even stretch the black band. It's way extreme. Just so you know. Oh! and remember the lighter the band, the harder it is. Like a red band would make the pullup harder than the green band. Kind of opposite thinking.
http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=82&itemType=GATEWAY

When I first started, I didn't even bother trying to do a unassisted pull-up the first phase. I knew I could maybe do 1-3 chins, but I wanted to build up and not pull something and get injured. By the second phase. I'd do some unassisted on 2 or so exersises and then go right back to assisted for a few more reps. By the 3rd phase I didn't do any assisted, except on maybe the switch grips. And could do 9 close grip, 11 chins, and 3 wide grip with no assist. So, think of it as a slow progression. It will happen. I will add that on all the back workouts, I did pulldowns on the second half of the workout, starting at 60lbs and working my up to 100lb pulldowns.

Dallys..thanks for the info on the bands. I feel better knowing I'm not going to try one until phase 2, hopefully I will progress as well as you did.

Deb, nice workout, have a great time at the christmas partY

I LOVE KENPO...what a nice workout, KPC is still my fav, but this was "very nice" and "beautiful" as Tony says..

Off to Dicks and many other Saturday chores.

Have great workouts to meg diane sue randi netta and suz. Bring it.
Amber

Morning ladies,

It was KenpoX today. Next time, I'll use some wrist weights to make it harder. I find it amusing how out of breath Tony is. With this workout, I'll be able to work on my form as it's not real fast. It was good, but definitely not the intensity of any of the Cathe's.

Anne, hope the stomach crud is gone. I've only eaten something that made me violently ill a couple times in my life and both times I got a cold sweat.

Lora, keep your positive attitude. DH needs to support you in this and give you the confidence that it will all work out.

Amber, hope you had enough energy for KenpoX. It's not too bad, really. I am feeling some DOMS from Legs & Back yesterday. I liked that one. AbX was tough for me yesterday, but my hip flexors are better. I'm also using the Lat Tower from my Bowflex for the pullups. I need to get a pullup bar. Unlike Suz, I'm not too concerned about not being able to do pullups yet. She's a wild woman!

Charlotte, glad you have DOMS in your butt-ocks. I have some too and enjoyed the stretching today in KenpoX. My DH was hope on the day that P90X came. He opened it up but didn't say too much about it. I thought he'd give me a hard time. Hey, he has lots of $$$ in guns and 4'wheelers so he'd better not say too much about my collection of DVD's.

Dallys, hope you get your DVD's returned to you this week. Freezing or not, they are still good. I've got a way to go on pullups I think. Next time I'll go to 60# for the lat pulldowns. Maybe when (yeah right) I get to 100#, I'll be able to do a pulldown. Right now, I'm kind of being careful so as not to hurt myself, yeah, right, that's it:7 You rock, girl!

Deb, you are doing awesome on Cardio Coach. I didn't do a bike workout this week, but next week think I'll have enough strength to still "bring it" so I'm going to add one in. I miss it. I wouldn't want bigger thighs myself, muscle or not. Mine are too big and they aren't muscle on top. Enjoy the party tonite!

Got to run, have to go get a Christmas tree today. It's just sprinkling right now so we'd better get before the snow hits.

Jeanette

I posted on the other one this morning. I'll paste it here so my AMAZING post doesn't go unnoticed. :) I just finished Kenpo X. HR wasn't very high. I think I need weighted gloves. What are the good/safe ones. I know Lora and Diane Sue have some recommendations on these. Thanks! Here's my amazing earlier post...making this one waaaaaay longer than my normally looooong posts!

Good morning!

Today I woke up without that migraine! I told ya! Just a little headache. It's on it's way out. Wooooo hoooooo!!!! I'm getting ready to do KenpoX and then we are going to Old Chicago to celebrate DH's birthday (it was when I was out of town) with my family). I think I'll be pretty good b/c pizza doesn't sound that great. Let's see what happens when my nose zones in on the scent!

Lora - you did what you felt was right and what you and DH had talked about. No use second guessing. What's done is done. Onward and upward. You would have been miserable working shifts. I know I would. Don't beat yourself up.

I just realized I never really got bicep DOMS. Bad news. I guess I should have gone heavier. Darn it. Noted. I think that's the only part of my body that didn't get DOMS this week. Did you see Tracy on the Xer's check-in did 3 unassisted pull ups and chin ups? I asked her how far along she is in the program. I fear it's only a week. Someone else asked her what she ate, drank, when she peed, etc.

My good friend Mel is still lurking but hasn't joined us yet, obviously. COME ON MEL!!! I was telling her about Cardio Coach. They're great workouts, right? I told her you all love 'em. She's been BRINGIN' IT this week too.

Dallys - I looked for those bands to assist with pull ups on Beachbody, but didn't find them. Did you say where to get them? And how do you know what size to get? It sure looks like it would be easier to have good form so you could FINALLY do something unassisted someday. My form sucks!!!

Anyone else who did P90X start out not being able to do any pull ups or chin ups at the beginning and then able to do them at the end? Can you tell I'm a little obsessed with this?

Off to the basement. Lots to do today so want to get an early start. DH is starting a photography business on the side mostly for fun (as opposed to for money) so he's doing family photos of different people for free for his portfolio and then giving them the CD and they can have all the pics to do with what they want(my great idea).

Hi Suz,
So glad the migraine is kapoot! I didn't use my HRM (not unless I want to see it stuck on 191 or 5 or 0 or something else useless) but I know I wasn't breathing hard thru most of it, though Tony did enough for all of us. I'm going to add wrist weights next time. The pace is slow enough that I don't think I'll dislocate a shoulder or something while using them.

Suz, I think you gave good advice for Lora. It's a chance for a new start. Yep, up, up and away. My DH lost his 30 year job a few years ago, but was fortunate to get another one soon, and in a much better place, with better perks, pay, and better safety in the workplace.

I think this first week of P90X for me is really just feeling and learning the workouts out and then next week I'll really be able to "bring it" even better, especially on the weights. I'm motivated to improve. I do, however, hold back on shoulder weights as I'm sooooo afraid of hurting something in that area. I'm going to be looking for a pull up bar soon. I think it'd be great to be able to do pullups by the end, but it's not a big goal of mine. Getting more cut all over is more my aim, and a stronger, leaner core, not to mention a smaller a** and legs. But actually one of the biggest things I want to accomplish is to figure out what works for my body to look the leanest, whether it's more cardio, less cardio, more weights, less weights, more rest, and to be able to make a rotation that works. Working smarter and not just harder. I think a lot of us work pretty hard, but have plateaued a long time ago and just keep adding on more and more workout time and cardio, hoping to shed the fat. I'd like to be able to work out a max of 1 hour a day, period (except for bike stuff). Maybe the key to all this is what kind of foods to eat, how much food, and the percentage of Carbs, proteins and fats. Anyway, I'm excited about learning these things. Okay, off my soapbox.

What a great thing your DH is doing with his photo business. I hope he really enjoys it a lot. So nice to do this for other people for free. What a sweetie.

Got to do some house cleaning as Mom's birthday party is over here tonite.

Jeanette

Jeanette, I really like your soapbox talk.:) I have similar goals as you. I want to know what works best in the shortest amount of time. You are right, that sometimes we have worked out for awhile and are kind of at a platue and start adding on more time to our workouts, or more or less cardio, etc. to get results, usually not succeeding. I like how Debbie is working out around an hour and getting all she can in that amount of time. My goal is I want to be a stronger Mt. Biker. I am having a hard time figuring out what is best for that. I'm still working on it. I also want to keep lean. I'm not concerned about muscle size, more about strength and endurance. I did have a goal this last P90X round to really work hard on my pullups and pushups. I accomplished this and was happy with my results. My first round, I really didn't have specific goals or really even know much about rotations and all. I like that it helped give me an idea of how to do this. I did learn from my first P90X rotation (this was 2 or 3 years ago) that I shouldn't go in with all guns loaded, because I slightly tore my rotator cuff the first week from the pushups. I was MUCH more careful and conscience of what I was doing this time around. It's all about working out smart and safe and being healthy enough to stay consistant at it.

There was my soapbox, thankyou very much.:)

I just finished Kenpo X! Love it..love it..love it!!!! This one is by far my favorite workout. No doubt! I also used 5# ankle weights during the whole time except for stretching. The workout reminded me to get that hrm that I got out so before I started I tried to get the watch to work and it would not come on. Now I got to send it back for another I guess. I called the HRM USA and they are not open til Monday. Stinks. I didn't really sweat that much like Tony and the group. Not sure why, but now I smell so got to shower.

Charlotte~~

Hi Ladies:)
Today was drill max scrambled premix and abs. My legs are still sore from last weeks rotation! What is Kenpo X?
Thanks
RAndi

Okay, I see. We're soapboxing it today! :) What I LOVE LOVE LOVE about Jeanette is her balance in life. I would ride 5 and sometimes 6 days a week and kill myself and she would ride 3 days a week (and doing other workouts the other 3 days), giving it her all and would be so much faster than I was and kicking the boys' butts. She trains so smart. It's all about balance, right Jeanette? You've had that talk with me so many times back and forth in e-mail and I'm still trying to learn from you. And here we are doing P90X together and I'm once again trying to learn from you. I'm trying to lift as heavy as I can and focusing on pull ups and push ups and your focusing on what works for your body. Sheeesh - will I ever learn! :) I do want to be a better cyclist like you and like Dallys says. And I don't want to keep having to work out longer and longer to get results. Okay, I'm off to contemplate. :) Jeanette, have fun with your mom.

Randi - KenpoX is like kickboxing.
