Hardcore Check in January 2014

I Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and get us started. Today I will do a Tread Climber workout with yoga/stretching and some abs.

Debbie, I am sorry about the knees and all of the issues you are having. Do you think maybe you have some arthritis? My surgeon says my knee he did surgery is worn almost bone on bone. He suggested more low impact work. He used to run himself and had to give it up. He told me to cross train, which I already thought that I was doing, so who knows.

Workout today was X10 w/u and a tiny bit of step (power 15's and fast feet taps) 10 min., 59 cal.. I then did the Tread climber for 40 minutes, 352 calories, HR avg. 144 max 165. I did abs using Tracey Staehle's Core Blast doing segments,; med ball, bosu with med ball, floor 1, floor 2 plank, and pilates; 30 min., 167 calories. I finished with Art of Flow Y with Zuzana sun salutations, flow, and blood inversions, 24 minutes, 100 calories. Total time was 1hr. 44 min., calories 678 calories.

I did STS Plyo Legs

Asking for some prayers I had my annual mammogram done and it came back abnormal, this happened about 10 years ago and it was a cyst, but very nervous right now I go at 2

Roselyn, sending prayers your way. I have had that happen before too and they did an ultrasound and it was a cyst. Praying it is again something like that.

Today I mixed up lots of bits and pieces. I did Cathe's Party Rockin Step 1 w/u and first 2 combos without jumping, 18 minutes. I followed with Rock out Knockout cardio with gloves and stretch modifying the jacks by doing speed skaters instead, 18 minutes, cardio was 275 calories and 36 minutes. I then did Amy Bento Slo Mo back 27 min. and biceps,14 min. 227 calories I finished off with the stretch from Amy's Body Box 8 min. 30 calories. I was checking out the moves on this and her stretches are pretty good. I really liked the stretch on this. Usual moves with a different twist to them. Total time was 86 minutes and calories burned 532.

Diane Sue, I have had a cyst before my very FIRST mammo came back abnormal when I turned 40, but good news the technician did the mammogram and showed me the pics of the original and there was a bright round spot, but..she really squished my breast and it was gone doc looked at and called it negative, YEAH!! but FYI just for you girls the tech walked me out and told me that I have fatty tissue in there and every time i get my mammogram to tell the tech to squish as hard as i can take it, she said alot of times the girls don't because some women say they hurt them so give them permission to squish away and avoid having to go back which is so unnerving. have a good day and thanks so much for the prayers

Hello eeryone! Sorry I haven't been on. The weather has been crazy and my workouts very sporadic. Still having knee pain and I once again pulled the muscle in my shoulder between my spine and shoulder blade. That is better, however, but I didn't want to chance a workout today. Monday I will commit to my workouts full force again and get myself going. I feel so lazy lately, not sure what is wrong with me. I hate feeling this way.

Diane Sue - I have to say, I'm getting really tired of all these aches and pains. I think I really tortured my body working out so hard for so many years and now I'm paying for it. I don't do high impact anything anymore, I haven't for a few years. I don't consider running on my treadmill high impact, that seems to be the only thing I can do anymore. If it keeps up I'll have to get my knees x-rayed. I'm trying some new joint supplements, we'll see if that eases up the pain.

Roselyn - I know what you mean about mammograms. And I'm starting to not like technicians telling patients stuff. It usued to be that the techs weren't aloud to say anything but now it seems like the blab everything out. This happened with all the heart stuff I went through this year. Tech said everything looked normal yet the pictures came back negative. Anyways, I'm glad you are ok. That is a terrible worry.

Happy New Year everyone! Let's hope we have less pains this year! LOL!

Today I did a warm up using the one for Amy's Slo Mo legs then the Treadclimber, 36 min., 251 calories. I didn't take it over 3mph today. I the did Slo Mo upper w/u, chest 19 min, triceps 11 min, core 14 min (doing mountain climbers when she did the plank jump ins) I finished with the upper stretch and the stretch from the legs. This was 56 minutes 252 calories. Total time was 92 minutes and calories 503.

Debbie, I have tried Osteo Biflex and some other things but I have got the best results with Capraflex my finger joints quit swelling and aching. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BB6P84/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has a blend like glucosamine chondroitin along with some probiotics and tart cherry and a few other things in it.

Roselyn I am glad that things turned out okay for you. I tend to have fibrocystic stuff that wants to show up. I hate that scared feeling and am se that you are relieved.

I didn't really do the lunge jumps on the crescent series, it was more a lunge hop. Total time was 92 mutes and calories burned 622.

Roselyn, will have to go look that one up. I have never heard of it.

Wow, we are having some really cold weather. It's supposed to get down to 35 below tonight. It's funny, on the news they said that if you aren't at least 30 years old, you have never seen temps this low here in Ohio. Well, I'm way older than 30 and I remember these types of temps, but they still suck. I have to go into work and I'm afraid to drive. The roads are all covered with snow and ice. All our schools are closed. Fun...

Today I did Cardio Coach #3 and had a fairly decent workout althought my knees are feeling it. I'm going to try to do something all week and try to avoid hurting my knees. I'm trying to decide if I should make an appointment to see the doctor. My first line of attack is cutting out sugar. I want to follow the Whole 30 plan but I seriously don't see how I can and be as strict as they want you to be. But I will try to cut out as much as I can (sugar, gluten dairy) and see how it goes.

Today's workout was 37 minutes long and I ran 2.25 miles. I burned roughly 330 calories.

Have a great day everyone! Stay warm!

This morning I did STS disc 7 chest, shoulders and triceps 56 minutes, 420 calories. I then did Ab Circuits no equipment abs, 17 minutes, 83 calories, finished with the STS extended stretch 15 minutes, 48 calories. Workout was 87 minutes and calories burned was 551. It is cold. -2 this morning. The dogs are in and out quick which is good because I do not want to have to walk the pup. I hate snow!!! It looks pretty but I hate it.

Debbie, I have been doing Paleo for awhile now. I have heard of the plan you are talking about. I have several good books downloaded and different sites I go to quite often. Diane Sanfilippo has a 21 day sugar detox cookbook and plan. I have her Practical Paleo book an also the download and she gives suggestions for those that need to cut out sugar. You might check out her site, if you haven't already, www.balancedbites.com , She has a few recipes on her site. I also use Primal Blueprint a lot. I think limiting the sugar definitely helps my joints. The only thing is I love honey. I am not a big fan of fruit but do like berries. I think they are pretty limited in a sugar detox though. I totally understand fear of driving on the ice. Just before Christmas I ventured out to go to UPS and I almost slid down the hill into oncoming traffic that was moving fairly quickly because the main road had been cleared. I had to turn the wheels into the corner curb to stop and was afraid I was going to keep on sideways. Needless to say I went another direction and went home. So, it looks like I may be inside most of the week.

Roselyn, I hear you on the snow and cold. You got some good workouts in.

Teddy, happy new year to you too:)

Morning everyone! Staying warm? OMG, it's like 25 below here with the wind chills. Luckily my work told us we could stay home today, I'm so happy about that.

I had a great upper body workout this a.m. This is what I did:

3 sets of everything. Reps ranged from 8 to 12 depending on how I felt.

Flat Bench Press - 45#
Flat Dumbbell Flyes - 15's

Incline Bench Press - 45#
Incline Dumbbells Flyes - 15's

Overhand Barbell Row - 45#
Overhead Press - 8's - (I remember doing these with 30# dumbbells at one point in my training. OMG!)

Underhand Barbell Row - 45#
Hammer Curls - 15's
Lateral Raise - 8's

Upright Row - 25#
Dumbell Curls - 12's
Overhead Tricep Extension - 15#

Lying Tricep Extension - 10's
Ab Crunches - 30 reps
Elbow Planks - Tried to hold for 30 seconds - notice I said "tried" LOL!

That is all. I had fun with this and I feel pretty good today! :)

Diane Sue - Thanks, I'll check into that! I have been sort of following the Paleo diet, but not committed 100% to it. Thanks for the info!

This morning I did STS disc 9 legs omitting 3 moves and modifying several like putting the weights on the floor and picking them up. I kept the weights really light and on the 1 squat segment I did I used no weight. Since it is 8 weeks since surgery I thought I need to try a little bit more. I am trying to be careful with it though. I added on the extended stretch so this was 67 minutes and calories burned 268. I finished off with 20 minutes, 169 calories, on the Tread Climber only at 3mph though. I didn't want to tax the legs too much more. Total time was 87minutes and calories burned 437 calories.

Debbie, nice workout :)

Today I did Cardio Coach #1 and had a pretty good workout. My right knee was bothering me a little bit. I think instead of doing a leg workout tomorrow I'm going to do a nice stretch workout from Karen Voight. I don't want to chance hurting my knees more right now. Anyways, workout was 37 minutes, I ran 2.25 miles and burned approximately 321 calories.

Today's workout started with STS disc 8 ME week 3 56 minutes, 274 calories. I then did Les Mills Combat Core Attack repeating some of it 22 minutes 79 calories. I finished off with X10 Fat Burning Circuit using the rebounder on jumping moves and doing more of a hop, 28 minutes, 206 calories. Total time was 1 hour 46 minutes and calories burned 559.
I wasn't getting my HR up as easily to day for some reason. Maybe because my sleep patterns have been different the last two days and I have started later.

Debbie, nice work. Good idea doing yoga and giving it a break.
