Hardcore Check in for September 2016

Yesterday I did not workout. I have had three football games in the last two days and they wipe me out. I get home late and don't get enough sleep so I just skipped it.

Today I did X Train Back, disc number 3. I added wide grip pulldowns at the end. Then I did Triceps. Workout was 42 minutes and I burned 225 Calories.

1 Arm Row- 30# x 10, x 10, x 13 TF

BB Rows Underhand Grip- 60# x 10, x 10, x 13 TF (these were tough today because of my back issue)

Rear Flies- 12# x 15, x 12 x 13 TF

Wide Grip Pull Downs- 60# x 12, x 10, x 12 TF

Lying Triceps Ext. DB- 15# x 15, x 11, x 10 TF

Cross Body Ext DB- 12# x 12, x 11, x 12 TF

2 Arm Kickbacks- 10# x 10, x 10, x 10 TF

1 Arm Kickbacks- 10# x 10, x 10, x 10 TF

Diane Sue, great workout! I did the same thing that you did about going back and looking at my older workouts. I like to mix it up as well, I tend to get bored with too long of rotations. I am rushed today so I did not get my abs in, but I am working on them a lot lately. Did you by any chance purchase Tony Horton's One on One series. He workouts out in his home gym. They are great workouts, short and to the point. I was going to cook some fall type food this weekend up we are headed for a heat wave again. I will put that off until the weather gets cooler. I love to make stew, chili and cock pot types of meals in the fall. It makes the house smell so good!

Debbie, great workout again. I cant wait to lift a little heavier, but I have to wait until I get my back and neck fixed on Monday afternoon. I might go back and do STS Meso 3, I'm not sure but I always get great results from that rotation. Also, I am going to get back on my treadmill and elliptical once the weather cools down, its just too hot in my gym room to do it.

Roselyn, get workout and I'm glad to see you are posting your weights. It takes time but it keeps us accountable. Also, I like to see what you are doing for workouts, it gives me ideas for my own.

Have a wonderful day!

Today I did Amy Bento Ross Hip Hop Walk, 56 minutes, 307 calories. I do not think I ever did all of this one. It was pretty good. I purchased it when I had just had the knee surgery and tried some of it, but I my knee still hurt some and I could not move very quickly. It is not hard to follow at all. I then put in Amy's Advanced Step Challenge thinking I was going to do a short premix. I was having a hard time just doing the choreography without the break down since it has been a long time with it. I went back to the start and did combo 1 and 2 and the stretch, 42 minutes, 191 calories. Now I remember that combo one was the hardest to get. I used to do this one all of the time and add the spins that some of the others did. I need to get out her last one she did that is Step Challenge 5. It had so many turns at the start off the step and my knee did not love it. I did some of X Train Delts bonus first 2 exercises ( I had phone calls and just decided I was done since the grandchildren are coming in awhile) Total time was 1 hour 46 minutes, calories 521. So far I have 11, 279 steps today on my Fit Bit. I got a lot from the walk workout.

Jolie, I have Tony's Road Warrior, Patience is a Hummingbird, a leg workout called something like Four on the Floor?, A balancing upper one. I never purchased any of them by sets.

Today starts week 9 of Full body. This rotation is only 8 weeks long but I'm extending it a bit. Had a great workout and lifted quite heavy.

This is what I did today:

3 sets of 5 reps with 1 minute rest between each set. Warmed up with MM.

Barbell Press: 80#
Barbell Curl: 50#
Leg Press Station: 165#
Barbell Row: 65#
Barbell Military Press: 45#
Lying Barbell Extension: 35#

Walked on my treadmill for 1 mile as well.

Hope you all have great workouts! Nice job this weekend!

Today I did ICE Muscle Meltdown Chest and then I got on the Treadmill and walked uphill 38 minutes for 2 miles. It felt great to get walking again. I did not do the pushups in this workout because my back hurts too much so I added an additional round of exercises to make it four sets per exercise.

This is a Giant Set of four exercises.

Chest Press DB- 20# x 12 ( 4 rounds)

Chest Flies- 15# x 12

Incline Chest Press DB- 20# x 12

Incline Chest Flies- 15# x 12

Treadmill uphill.

I burned 596 Calories! My calorie burn has been higher this past week, I wonder why?

Debbie,
nice workout. You are lifting some impressive weights.

Diane Sue and Roselyn, I will check back later to see what you did for your workout.

Going to go to the Chiropractor today to hopefully get fixed!!!

It is 110 Degrees here today! Yuck

Today I did the workout mix that I had mentioned. So, today was workout A. This one hits some back and lots of glutes and the back of the legs along with abs. I will be doing this one again Friday and Wednesday I have a different one that is pretty much all from Amy Bento's Slo Mo but has the addition of some French press for the triceps. That one will get more of the quad area. It will have other upper body work in it.
The workout went like this: (all from Cathe) 85 minutes, 340 calories. I really felt the calories should have been more but with things like weights the Fit Bit measures only heart rate. I do find by the end of the day I still average a good amount of calories so I guess the metabolism has risen enough to make it pretty even. On another note I wore my Fit Bit Blaze to bed last night because I forgot about it. It said I slept 4 hrs and 36 minutes. awake once (I got out of bed) restless 16x ( drinking sips of water and getting throat lozenges) Last time I did this it was similar sleeping patterns but awake 3 times and restless 14. I doubt I really need a watch to tell me how little I sleep. It is sort of pathetic.
Lower Body Blast
warm up
front lunge pick up 10#
split jump
8# high step adding 3 sets of reverse lunge off of the step with 15's while Slow and Heavy loads
Slow and Heavy back
Dumbbell Row 8 reps 3 sets 30's; 25's 25's (this is so much harder than 1 arm at a time)
Deadlift 8 reps 3 sets 30's
Cathe's Butts and Guts using the mix and match menu throughout
firewalkers using the blue firewalker band
bonus lower body
sit and stand 45# barbell 10 reps
leg press 2 sets high step with 5 risers 20# 16 reps
stability ball glute squeeze prone
Lower Body floorwork -ankle weight work I used 5#dumbbell and then for the ankle weight segment 5# ankle weights.
Core with 5# ankle weights and 5# and 8# dumbbells
Stretch

Debbie, nice work on the weights. It feels like forever since I have curled 50#. All of those giant sets I have been doing do not lend themselves to using as heavy of weights.

Jolie, good luck at the chiropractor. I hope it is instantly better. This last time did not sound pleasant.

I stayed up and watched the debates, so no workout for me this morning. No way can I function on only 5 hours of sleep, it's hard enough with only 6.

I have to go to the dentist today due to a tooth that is really painful right now. I hope they find what tooth it is, I've already been in once and he couldn't find anything wrong. Well, the pain is saying otherwise. If I get home early, I may walk on my treadmill to get my 10K steps in.

Jolie - I hope your neck is better!! Great workout yesterday. It's 110 where you are? OMG. Right now it's only 48 degrees here.

Diane Sue - You had a great workout!!

Roselyn - Hope you are doing great and having great workouts!!!

So far I have done Party Rockin Step 1, 54 minutes, 400 calories. I had cardio on my rotation for today. Originally it was supposed to be kettlebell cardio or Hiit. I was so tired and the Party Rockin Step workouts are always a good choice when I feel like that. I think I got even less sleep last night than the 4 hr 39 minutes the Fit Bit gave me the night before. I had to hurry because my husband has someone coming to price some stuff around the house. I still have flexibility work on the schedule so I will do that after he is gone.

Debbie, I hope they can figure out the problem with the tooth. That would be miserable.

No workout for me today. I feel about 80% better today after getting adjusted so it is always a good idea not to push it for a couple of days. I will be walking on my treadmill tomorrow and light weight work towards the end of the week. I also have been bitten by a spider in two spots on my leg and it is a small purple circle around the bite. I have joint pain in my knee due to the bite. I looked on line and it said that is a symptom of spider bites. It really hurts, I wonder what I should do about it? I am drinking a lot of alkaline water but I what else? I should have used the cold laser at the doctor yesterday but I didn't think of it at the time.

Have a great day, its going to be another hot one here today! Yesterday it was 112 degrees at 2:30pm!

So I did get on my treadmill yesterday after work and walked 1.5 miles so I was able to get all my steps in. Today was full body. Had a great workout!! I have to get my wisdom tooth out, lower left side. That is what is bothering me. I have to call the surgeon today and make an appointment. At least it isn't impacted so they should just be able to give me novacaine (sp?) and pull it.

This is what I did:

3 sets of 8 reps and 1:30 minutes rest between each set. Warmed up with GS Legs.

Dumbbell Squats: 30's
Upright Row: 50#/45#
Incline Dumbbell Press: 32's
Hammer Curl: 25's
Dumbbell Overhead Extension: 30#/32#
Stiff Leg Deads: 65#

Walked on my treadmill for 1 mile as well.

Jolie - That bite sounds awful! Hope the pain goes away soon.

Diane Sue - Great job with your workout!!! Yea, I hate tooth pain, it's the worst.

Roselyn - Nice workout!!

Hope you all have great workouts! Nice job yesterday!!

Today I did Cardio. I walked on my treadmill for 80 minutes and traveled 4.4 miles. I tried to walk at a high incline the whole way with just a few lower incline rests. I also stretched really well because my hamstrings get quite the workout when walking on an incline. I burned 680 calories from start to finish! I'm happy with that calorie burn.

Debbie, good luck with getting your tooth pulled. I hate going to the dentist because it always turns out with having to have something big done and I never have the extra money to spend on my teeth. Great workout today and good job getting on the TM yesterday.

Diane Sue, Ill be back later to see what you did for your workout today.

Roselyn, nice workout yesterday!

I'm going to make some chicken today. I saw a recipe where you slice the chicken through the middle so you can stuff it with spinach, Feta cheese and whatever else you want to put in it. I might put some Pancetta. Then you sauté it in a pan and transfer it to a baking dish. I will make a scampi sauce and pour it on the top and put it in the oven. I think I will serve it with rice and a salad. I am in the mood to cook!

Have a great day.

Today I wanted to work on the choreography on Amy Bento Ross Advanced Step Challenge 5 that I have never completed. So,, I did the warm up and combo 1 then came back and finished after my weight workout doing combo 5 which was really short and the stretch. 31 minutes, 149 calories. Not so great but, I was busy losing my footing. Loads of spins and turns off and on the bench. I think this is one of her harder ones, unless it is easier in the middle. Today's weight workout was Workout B. This was pretty much all Amy's Slo Mo premix total body challenge 2 with a couple of additions. It took me 85 minutes but I did have some pauses to write some things down. It should go a bit faster next time.
Workout B
W/up, then paused to add 3 sets of 8 reps assisted pull ups
wobble hack squats (heels elevated on edge of risers) 8 reps 15's 3 sets you get 4 reps of biceps curls with each of these sets as you go
1 arm pull over 15# 8 reps 3 sets 4/4 count first two sets then there is a pause 2 count hold and 2 count return on the final set
cradle side lunge 40# barbell 8 reps 4/4 count first 4 reps then the 4/ 2 hold 2 2 sets right and left
seated row I used my heaviest tubing and grasped low on it Amy uses a barbell with a green band wrapped around one end of it so you really have to stretch the length of the bar and your legs. 2 sets 8 reps with the pause hold she does in the other exercises
single leg rock up squats with a stability ball and 15# dumbbell 3 sets 8 reps some with the pause hold
standing reverse fly with external rotation 8's 8 reps 3 sets
chest around the world 8# pair start on hip face down rotate out to sides as in a fly and bring up overhead as in a pull over and back to start, 3 sets
standing concentration curl 40 # barbell 3 sets 8 reps
decline triceps dips 2 set bodyweight stop here and go to
chapters menu triceps scull crusher (French press) on an incline step 20# 8 reps
Core -standing circle 8# , standing clamshell 8#, standing relay 8's, seated sit and levitation tucks, run around step and down to forearms and back up right and left, barbell rollout 40# 2 sets, plank jump in
stretch

Debbie, I have had all of my wisdom teeth out at some point. Good luck with that.

Roselyn, good job getting the workouts in.

Jolie, did you check out the different spider bites to be sure it was not a serious one. I have never had one leave me in pain before. I hope it has improved. I would take that calorie burn gladly :) The chicken sounds good. I slit chicken once like I would a hasselback potato and stuffed ham and cheese between the slices for my husband. He found out I was making chicken tonight and suggested it. But, no, I have it marinating from a Paleo recipe and it is supposed to be skewered and baked.

Didn't feel much like running today so I just did a high incline walk on my treadmill. What is amazing is I burned way more calories walking then I do for the same mileage of a Cardio Coach. I want to know how that happens?

My wisdom tooth comes out next Thursday. I can't believe I have to wait a whole other week. I hope the pain doesn't get worse.

So today's workout looked like this: Walked for 45 minutes, went 2.25 miles, burned 308 (TM said 289, how is that possible?) and went 5420 steps.

Diane Sue - I've had two out so far, that was 15 years ago. The other two came in straight and weren't a problem until now. Oh well. Good job with your workout.

Jolie - Nice workout and great calorie burn! Wow!

Hope you all have great workouts today!!

Deb, I am finding even when I use Fitbit cardio calories it seems to make up for it by the total calorie expendature at the end of the day. I do use between numbers from Map My Fitness and the watch though for strength. Map My Fitness uses the same watch data. I fixed my age ( funny how getting a year older changed things? on my calories burned app and it is pretty close to the fitbit every time. I have not tried my spin bike or the tread climber though. Usually the fitness equipment is higher. I should check and see if the fitbit works with the Tread climber or I have to wear a strap.

Today I walked on the treadmill for 60 minutes and traveled 3.3 miles at a pretty high incline. I did a higher incline yesterday but I'm tired today from that workout! I then did Pyramid Upper Body Biceps only and burned 542 calories. I couldn't get my heart rate up today because I was tired I think?!

Hammer Curl- 10# x 12, 12# x 10, 15# x 8, 12# x 10, 10# x 12
Super Set to
Bicep traditional Curl- Same weight as above.

This is a short workout but it really burns the Biceps.

Debbie, I always get a better calorie burn on the treadmill if I walk at a high incline. Also, my Fitbit and Treadmill calorie counter is usually pretty close.

Diane Sue, great workout yesterday and I like your idea of the chicken dish. I am always trying to find new ways to cook chicken because it can get pretty boring.

I have to say one thing about walking, that's why I do it so much, is I get a great calorie burn if I use I high incline and I sleep so good! I just fall into bed and lights out! Also, for some reason, I feel really good the following day. I absolutely love to lift weights, but I love a good walk too! I think I will either do a shorter walk each day and do one body part per day or do three long walks and a three day split per week. ( Shoulders, Chest and triceps and then Back and Biceps). I guess I could alternate each week to keep my body guessing.

Today is the last day of the heat wave and we should start getting a little cooler weather in the 80's. I am so sick of hot weather!
Bring on the sweaters and boots!

Have a great day!

Today I worked on Amy's Step Challenge 5 again doing the warm up and combos 1 and 2,32 minutes, 230 calories. I then did Ripped with Hiit Plyo Hit 1, 27 minutes, 182 calories. For flexibility which was on my plan for today I did Kettlebody By Brook, Yoga Burn, 27 minutes 96 calories and finished of with Suzanne Bowen Bar Amped Upper body stretch. Yoga Burn is killer on the arms and especially the triceps because there are lots of slow triceps push ups and holds at the bottom. My shoulders are sore. I do not think I will be doing the pull ups twice next week which iws what I have scheduled. I will have to see how I feel after this weekend. Total time was 98 minutes and calories burned 523.

Jolie, Civilized Caveman has a yummy chcken recipe in their app and maybe on their website for chicken that has sundried tomatoes n the middle and is wrapped in bacon. I always use the nitrate and sugar free bacon. I wish that I could just fall into bed and go to sleep.

I also forgot to report that I did the Med Ball Abs from STS Abs. It was a good one but with there were more floor exercises with it. I don't care for standing ab work. I'll do it again, though, I did like it.

Today was full body. Had an ok workout, my tooth was really bothering me this morning. I am going to call the dentist and see if I can get in earlier. I cannot take this anymore. Hopefully they can get me in earlier.

This is what I did:

Weighted Bench Dips: 45#
Calf Raises using Leg Press Station: 155#
Lateral Raise: 12's

Reverse Bicep Curls: 30#

Walked on my treadmill for 1 mile as well.

I'm so glad it's Friday. Looking forward to the weekend. Need a break and tooth pain is very exhausting!!! Have great workouts everyone!!

Deb, I am sorry. I hope getting in sooner happens for you. I think most offices would try.
