Hardcore check in for November 2016

Today I started with cardio and I walked 40 minutes on the treadmill. 2.10 miles, 7.5 incline and I burned 382 calories. After the treadmill I did Pyramid Upper Biceps only. I love these workouts they really burn the muscle. Total workout calorie burn was 462 Calories. I think this is high but I really had to work hard on the higher incline while walking. Max heart rate was 180!

Biceps I used 10#, x 12#, 15#, 12#, 10# (reps 12 x 10 x 8 x 10 x 12)

I found out why I have been feeling so bad lately. Last night my right kidney started to hurt and I could barely lay down to sleep. I read about kidney infections and kidney stones and I have some of those symptoms. I will go to sprouts and start addressing the issue ASAP. Lemon juice, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, uva ursi and dandelion root.

Girls you have all been kicking butt with the workouts lately.

Have a nice day.

Jolie, I hope that all helps. I just went to Sprouts today and picked up Acetyl L Carnitine to help with this injured nerve pain that I am having. Maybe it will help it mend faster. I probably should have picked up magnesium and B12 too. I get a lot of that with some of the green superfood powders that I have been using. I have been tired too, I am guessing it has to do with whatever my body has been fighting. I don't sleep well so that is a problem. I wore my Fit Bit to bed last night and it said I slept 2 and a half hours. I think I slept more than that but I know I was constantly trying to get away from the neck and shoulder pain by readjusting my pillow and sleep position. I had hoped to get in a bit more workout, but after the trip to the store and the plumber being here, I just am not feeling it. I will make up for it tomorrow.

Today I did Cardio Coach 1, had to do a quick workout because I need to get to work a bit early today. Had a great workout, love this one. Short and sweet!!

Workout was 36 minutes, ran 2.27 miles, burned 240 calories (TM said 323) and went 4792 steps.

Roselyn - Nice job with your workout. I can't believe the holidays are here already!!! How is that even possible?

Diane Sue - Hope your plumbing issues are taken care of. Hate that crap, I'm glad my dh fixes all our ailments here at home. Hoe you are feeling better.

Jolie - Kidney stuff isn't good, I hope you can get that taken care of. Sounds painful!!! Take care.

Debbie, my plumbing woes are ongoing. He replaced the outdoor and kitchen faucets and they are good. I guess the work in the kitchen rattled the old garbage disposer because now it is leaking from the top when you run water in the sink. Also the faucet we recently had installed upstairs has decided not to put out cold water. We have had lots of problems with that faucet. American Standard has faulty parts. They had to replace parts. Then after we got it set up it worked for a couple of months and then wouldn't turn off. My son fixed it. Then it did the same thing a couple of months later. My son in law put the new extra stem we had on it. Now it is the other side. We paid 225 dollars for th a t faucet:( The plumber says use Delta, they are good about replacing things and you can find parts. I need to find something positive today. :)

Today is my rest day, my kidney is still a little sore but my supplements are working. I was supposed to do back today but I'm skipping it because My lower back is sore and I have so much to do today including my son Freshman Football Banquet tonight. I am not going to kill myself trying to fit in my workouts if I just cant do it. I need to start having some fun and not be so worried if I don't workout six days a week, especially during the holidays.

Diane Sue, Delta is fantastic to work with in terms of customer service. I have all of my bathroom faucets by Delta and they all started to leak, keep in mind I had them for 10 years. I wanted to get new ones, but they are too expensive. I called Delta and they gave my 70% off need facets because they have a lifetime warranty. I could have gotten the replacement parts, but they were looking a little worn so I splurged and got the new ones instead. If something goes wrong with them they will send you parts free of charge.

Have a great day!

This morning I did Cathe's Ride premix #4, 34 minutes, 240 calories. I then decided to pull out Tracey Anderson Method Trampoline, I used that workout a few times after knee surgery and have not used it since. I did both the front and back workouts first, then did the body work stuff. I kept wondering why no warm up but it was before the stuff that used little dumbbells and did the typical leg work on the floor while hanging onto the rebounder. The workout isn't bad but it is like you are just watching her do her workout. Front is her facing you and back is her facing away from you, both segments are about 12.5 minutes. Pretty much the same moves. She only talks before the workout starts. Total time for this was 51 minutes, 346 calories. Since the stretch was just leaning forward with hands on the rebounder I added Barre Amped Strength and stretch upper body and bonus ball 20 minutes. Total calories today was 616.

Jolie, I often have to remind myself that there is no one twisting my arm saying get out there and do that workout. I am a bit easier on myself than I used to be. It just isn't worth being extra tired for a family event because you felt you had to get that workout in. We have a Delta bath faucet that we purchased when the new American Standard was having problems. We had to raise all kinds of fuss with Home Depot and American Standard when the faucet did not work when the plumber installed it. It took 2 weeks and Home Depot sent us out a whole new faucet and said to bring back the broken parts and the rest of it. They did not have just the parts. Then 3 weeks later American Standard sent us out the parts. It was handy because we had to replace the same part a second time. I guess you get what you pay for. Although the American Standard we put in the bath was 225 dollars. It was not one of their lower cost ones.

Today I am very tired, went to bed late due to the football banquet. My youngest son won Defensive Lineman of the Year award! He was very happy. I managed to do Pyramid Upper Body, Shoulders and Triceps. The rep pattern is 12 reps , 10 reps, 8 reps, 10 reps and 12 reps. I used for both exercises 5#, 8#, 10#. Then I did Shape Up Shoulder Overhead Presses using 10# and did 8 rounds of 12 reps with a 10 second rest. Triceps I did Lying Extensions using 5# DBs. I could go to 8# next time I do this exercise. Both of these dvds burn the muscle so much. I actually feel more burn doing high reps low weights compared to lifting heavy. Workout was 40 minutes and I burned 282 calories. Max heart rate was 158.

I was suppose to do abs but my low back is still a bit sore so I passed. I will do abs later in the week. I walked my dog 2 miles prior to working out.

Have a wonderful day, I will be back later to see what you all did for your workouts today.

It is a busy day today. I did Ripped with Hiit Low Impact Hiit both workouts combined premix 2, 52 minutes, 365 calories. I will do lower body tomorrow when I have more time. Some of the family will be here for dinner. My grandson has half day of school and is coming over.

Jolie, that is great that your son won Defensive Lineman of the year. I like the way Kelly has the tabata style rounds for the weight work. I do wish she had done weights for the lower body instead of the cardio type step tabatas. It is good but I would have liked weights. Nice workout today.

Sorry I didn't check in this morning, I was running late (as usual) and had to be at work early. Today I did Pure Strength Back, Biceps and Abs, the entire workout. Had a really good workout, love this series!!!

Back
T-Bar Rows w/u
: 20# - 16 reps
T-Bar Rows: 40# - 3 sets/10 reps
Barbell Rows: 45# - 3 sets/10 reps
One Arm Row: 25# - 3 sets/10 reps
Barbell Shrugs: 45# - 2 sets/20 reps

Biceps
Barbell Curl:
35# - 2 sets/10 reps
Seated Alternate Hammer Curls: 12's - 20 reps
Seated Sweep Curls: 12's - 24 reps
Negative Curls: 20#/25# - 2 sets/10 reps
Concentration Curls: 12# – 2 sets/12 reps

Then I did the Ab work and walked 1 mile on the treadmill.

Diane Sue - WOW on your plumbing problems!! Geez... I agree with Jolie - Delta is the best and will replace anything, no questions asked. Nice workouts and you are right, it is good to sometimes just let the workouts slide. We won't gain weight with one missed workout here and there. Nice job!!

Jolie - Congrats to your son! How exciting!! I'm sure the banquet was fun. Hopefully you are feeling better.

Roselyn - Hope you are doing well!!

Debbie, Pure Strength and Gym Styles are both workout series that gave me nice results. I am kind of looking forward to Cathe's new PHA workout in the Sweat series she is doing. I am always happy to try something new. I don't see a lot of lower body in the new series though.

I had my mri this afternoon. Hopefully I am about done checking everything out. The lymph nodes are disappearing. I only feel one now. I think that nerve that was hit is starting to mend. Still hurts but it is actually a little itchy today. Maybe the Acetyl L Carnitine is helping. Who knows. It sometimes burns and is so sensitive to even having the car seatbelt sit on it. I have been avoiding too much ab work. I think it puts some stress on the neck and shoulders. It was odd watching Tracy Anderson doing crunches with leg and knee in. It looked like she was not doing real crunches half the time her head only seemed to be moving up and down.
Even with company and 2 and a half hours at the medical imaging place I feel I got a lot accomplished. Changing up medical insurance plans this year. We only had two days to get it in since they did not get our address changed last year to send out our packet. But, the guy was nice and emailed me the stuff and I got it all filled out and back to him. Now I have to read up on Medicare since I turn 65 this summer. Not sure what kind of supplement to get. The advantage program the city has has questions for me to look on.
I need to get some shopping done for my son in laws birthday this weekend and I am watching their little ones 2 and 8 overnight Friday. Also need to start prepping for Thanksgiving.

Glad things are getting better Diane Sue

Yesterday I worked shoulders and did a max 30, this morning I did Plyo Legs have not done in sooo long and had a great workout, leaving today for Branson so no workouts until Sunday maybe, have not taken a rest in a long time so this can be it

Talk to you all Sunday have great workouts

Today I did Pure Strength Shoulders so I can dedicate tomorrow to legs. I had a good workout and was also able to walk on my treadmill for 1.5 miles.

Shoulders
Arnold Press
: 12's - 2 sets/10 reps; 10's - 1 set/10 reps
Seated Clean & Press: 5's - 2 sets/8 reps (should have used 8's)
Side Lateral Raise: 10's - 2 sets/10 reps
Reverse Flies: 8's - 2 sets/10 reps
Side Lateral Raise: 8's - 16 reps

Burner for sure.

Diane Sue - My mom has AARP and we could not be happier with it. It costs her about $226 a month but it's worth every penny. She had both hips replaced and her brain surgery and what Medicare didn't pay, AARP did. We never seen a bill. So I highly recommend them.

Roselyn - Have fun this weekend!!!!

Jolie - Have a great day!

Hi girls! No workout today except a 3 mile walk. I woke up this morning and everything went to hell! One thing after another happened and I had to get them finished. Oh well! Let me just say, my family stresses me out. I have a hard time handling what comes my way due to their issues. I always am the one that has to fix everything and it is overwhelming. I am the only organized person and trying to keep three men organized is impossible. It is my biggest pet peeve and it just about kills me. Sorry, had to vent!

I have to start prepping for Thanksgiving, I did get my crystal washed and my silver polished. I love using my good things on the holidays. I also made my shopping list, I still need to order my pies. My mom is coming Monday to help me so that will be fun. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your families. I never eat the food because I don't like it too much so I make a winter salad for myself and put slices of turkey on the side. I don't even like the pies so I never have to worry about eating bad. The worst thing I do is drink some good wine! yum...

Diane Sue, my dad had surgery on his neck last January and they hit a never in his neck as well. He has had some issues due to it, his voice was effected.

Debbie, kicking butt on the workouts! I might do that series next week. Don't you just laugh when you look at the old workout cloths we all used to wear!!!!

Roselyn, have a wonderful time on your vacation!

Make it a great day!

This morning I did 21 Day Fix Extreme Lower body 34 minutes, 234 calories. I followed this with X Train Legs premix standing, ball, chair, 39 minutes, 193 calories. Total time was 73 minutes, calories burned 427. I used 15's for 21 Day Fix Extreme legs and Cathe's weight or a little heavier for X Train Legs. I went out to Walmart market and hopefully I do not need to go to the store again before Thanksgiving.

Debbie, I will have to check out AARP. I have never paid much attention to stuff that we get from them.

Jolie, you haven't dealt with teenage girls and their emotional upheavals. Bad hair days, clothes issues, wanting everything perfect ;) It just goes with raising a family. For some reason men seem to leave everything till the last second and then cannot find what they need and have to have help getting it all done. Maybe some or organized and everything is together. Maybe it is just that we have taught them to all rely on us for everything? You have to love them though :)

Today I did some of Pure Strength Legs. Not a fan of any of Cathe's floorwork so I stopped after the Qtr. Deads. Had a good workout, used light weights because I didn't want to irritate my knees. By the end, my right one started to bug me.

Legs
Front/Back Lunges - warmup
: 5's - 8 reps each side
Front Lunges: 12's - 8 reps each side
Back Lunges: 12's - 8 reps each side
Static Lunges: 25# barbell - 2 sets/16 reps
Plie Squats w/bodybar: 12# - 22 reps
Plie Squats: 25# - Many reps
Squats: 12's - 2 sets/12 reps (I think)
Quarter Deadlifts: 25# - 2 sets/12 reps

Then I got on my treadmill and walked 1 mile.

Jolie - That is motherhood. We always take all the stresses of our families on ourselves. It's what we do. Have you seen the movie "Bad Moms"? Great movie and very funny, you need to watch it.

Diane Sue - AARP is awesome, check it out for sure. Nice workout!

Hope you all have a great workout today and a great weekend! I'm so glad it's Friday!!!

Today I did XTRAIN Burnsets Back and Disc #2 Biceps. This is the second time this week I did biceps so I didn't go to heavy but had a great workout. I burned 320 Calories after my stretch.

Stretch

Debbie, I have not seen that movie. I will have to watch it some time soon! Great workout. I notice if I do lunges my knees hurt, that's why I don't do them anymore. I switched to warrior slide back lunges on the disc, leg extensions and leg curls instead. I am hoping these three exercises hit the same muscles as lunges. It's the going forward that hurts my tendon under the knee cap. What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Are you hosting?

Diane Sue, great workout. My mother always says to me, "God gives you what you can handle", that's why I didn't have any girls. Boys are more easy going but the messy, smelly and disorganization kills me! But as my dad would say, "this too shall pass". I just lost my mind yesterday but I am a lot better today. I wish I had all of my grocery shopping done already. I am going to Costco on Sunday early before the crowds and then my local grocery on Monday. I want to back sugar cookies, pecan bars and a pumpkin pie before Wed.

This is what I am making for Thanksgiving.
Turkey Breast- Barefoot Contessa recipe
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Green Beans with a garlic scampi sauce on top
Cranberry sauce with Orange zest
Sourdough bread, beacon and leek stuffing
Rolls
Winter Salad with green apples, pomegranate seeds, candied pecans with a balsamic dressing
Pies and cookies

I am not sure what I will serve for an appetizer but I made Cashews with Rosemary and a Cayenne yesterday, these are great to munch on during the football games.

Today I started with Amy Bento Ross Step Challenge 5 , and did the first 10 minutes. I was not doing bad on remembering the choreography but after some spins and then leaping over the step I just decided that I did not feel like working on it today. I burned 63 calories in that 10 minutes though. I then put in Tabatacise 45 minutes, 304 calories. I finished off with Hammer and Chisel 10 minute ab chisel, 12 minutes, 34 calories. I chose this ab workout because it does not strain my neck. It is pretty much all plank work with elbows on the step alternated with seated work like v sits. My neck and the injured nerve from the needle are starting to improve. I actually stayed asleep most of two nights now Two of my younger grandchildren are coming to spend the night. I am not sure that I will get a workout in tomorrow or not. My 8 year old granddaughter often brings her workout clothes, but the 2 year old will take off downstairs to explore the kitchen. If I could keep him with us we could do it. She loves working out with me.

Jolie, we have 16 people in our family for dinner On Thanksgiving. I am doing the turkey, a non crust pumpkin pie recipe from a healthy cookbook for the dieters, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, and a snack tray for the early arrivals. The others will bring different items. I am making a birthday cake tomorrow for my son in law's birthday party Sunday. It has to be chocolate. Your dinner sounds yummy. My husband insisted on the traditional whole turkey. I am sure the dog will enjoy some of the dark meat later. I tried making a special cranberry dish one year with fresh cranberries, orange zest and some orange along with pecans. It was yummy, but those in the family that want cranberry sauce just want the canned stuff to dump on their turkey. I am doing the blueberry salad from the Wild Diet Cookbook. Hopefully no complaints about the marshmallow fruit salad that will not be here. I hate the left overs with soggy marshmallows in it. Someone else is bringing the sweet potatoes so I am sure they will be covered with marshmallows and brown sugar. That is the old tradition. I just like baked sweet potatoes with ghee and rosemary myself. We have a picky bunch with selective tastes.
I would think that what you are doing would hit your legs just as well as traditional lunges. I find reverse lunges somewhat easier. Using the gliding discs is a good idea as well.

Debbie, nice workout. I like the floor work as long as it is not endless stuff that has me watching the clock. I find some of the standing chair and barre work using some weight seems just as effective as doing the stuff on the floor. I do notice a difference in my hips and hamstrings though when I do that type of work.

Today I did Les Mills Combat 30 Kick Start with 1# gloves and then I did Xtrain Burnsets Shoulders. The weight workout was hard because I threw so many punches with the weighted gloves in the kickboxing workout it was tough to get through the weight work.

DB Shoulder press-
20# x 10, x 10, x 10

1 Arm Lat Raise-
12# x 10, x 10, x 10

Rear Delt Flies-
12# x 10, x 10, x 11

Burnset- Scarecrows
5# x 25

Total workout time was 55 minutes and I burned 440 calories. Max heart rate was 169.
The cardio workout was hard due to the fact that I haven't done any kickboxing in awhile. I need to start doing more cardio besides the treadmill to burn some fat.

I hope you all have a great day, off to get some shopping and then cleaning done before the holiday.

I had grandchildren overnight and have been busy with them and cooking today. My 8 year old granddaughter and I made Fixate Cookbook Protein Waffles. She loves to help cook and has been after me to make these again. Now I am out of my whey protein. She worked out with me. She almost always brings workout clothes with her. We did Piyo Strong legs with the gliding discs followed by Barre Amped relaxation stretch. Not a big calorie burn. I believe around 117 calories. She wanted to do yoga but wanted something short so that ended up being the choice. I tried to get her brother 2 to use a pair of gliding discs too but her went off downstairs to explore the kitchen. The dog loved getting fed extra food while he was at it. My husband caught him. He is a busy little guy. It was nice that their older brother 16 came over too after he finished a Christmas light hanging job. He had dinner with us and we all watched Nine Lives. He had to get home though because he had a wrestling tournament this morning. I know he won the first round but I have not heard how the rest of it went.

Jolie, I have done a kickboxing workout and went all out with the gloves and found myself how surprised at the fatigue my upper body felt when I went on to a weight workout afterward. Particularly with the weighted gloves.

Today I did Xtrain Burn Sets - Chest & Shoulders. Had a great workout.
