Hardcore Check in December 15,2009 Tuesday

Cathlete
Today is lower body. I will do Kettlebell Goddess legs and Butt with some additional stuff. I think I may try the other Rachel Cosgrove metabolic workout for a couple of rounds. I have had a lot of doms in my legs and glutes lately. I will check back in awhile.

Today was Plyo X. Love this workout. Had a blast with it today and was able to give it my all. For some reason, though, I burned less calories then the last two times I did this. The last two times I broke 500 calories, this time I didn't.

HR STATS:
62 minutes total
7 minutes below zone
17 minutes in zone
39 minutes above zone
492 calories burned
150 bpm was the highest my HR got.

Linda - How do you do the swing kicks? What do you use to do it?

Morning Maniacs-
Yesterday was weights and steady state. My shoulder is still giving me trouble, but I have been a bit lax on the stretching. It's a busy time of year...Today is cardio, and I am not sure which one yet. Eats have been on the up and up for the last 5 days :) I had a fitness competitor friend give me some very good advice and a saying that has become my new mantra: I'm not going to give up all my hard work just because some fat a@@ wants to bring cake...I guess I should have also mentioned that she is very blunt :D

Diane Sue-have a good workout and yay for doms in the legs.

Debbie-I have had the same issue with calorie burn changes and for me, it seems to be related to where I am in my cycle. Not sure if the same may be true for you.

Theresa

Debbie, I do that too sometimes with the calorie burns. I just always figure it must be how I am feeling or maybe even how much coffee I have drank and how soon before the workout. Although I usually limit to two mugs sometimes I will drink 1 and there are days where I have no time to sit around and wait for the caffeine to kick in. Funny, my dog won't even come out of her crate to greet me till she sees me take a couple of swigs of coffee LOL Maybe that isn't such a good habit.

Theresa, I like that mantra. I need that one.

Woke up this morning feeling like I wanted to throw up (no I am not pregnant) which made the idea of doing PLYO X unimaginable. But I did it anyway.:p Of course I didn't give it my all and at about the 40 minute mark I really wanted to be done, but I stuck with it. According to my HRM I burned 832 calories (I wish). BTW, my stomach is feeling okay now.

Debbie - I use a stool from Kitchen just like they do for the leg swings.

Theresa - I can relate to the stretching thing. I really need to make myself stretch more. My midsection is so tight that when I sleep at night and turn over it goes into spasms. It hurts and I can't breath but then when it stops I'm ok. I don't know what is going on there.

Diane Sue - LMAO on your dog in her crate! I love my coffee in the morning too. Can't function without it.

Linda - I don't have a stool so I don't use anything. I need to find something to do that exercise with. I'm sorry you aren't feeling good, I got a little nauseous today, too, with this workout. Yesterday too for that matter. Maybe it's these workouts? But I do know you haven't been feeling good so maybe whatever you had is still lingering. Hope you feel better. Nice job getting the workout done!

I started with a 20 minutes w/up on the treadmill and went 1.5 miles. I then did Kettlebell Goddess legs and butt, this time doing the kettlebell swings between exercises. I added step ups, and did 1 round lf Rachel' metabolic group 2. I went back and finished off on the treadmill for another 2 miles. I ended with Kettlebell Goddess stretch and Traceys' Yoga solutions post cycle segment( I like the cowface pose in this because it really does help loosen up the ITband) for a 21 minute total stretch. Calories burned was 812, workout was 2 hours, 40% fat, Max HR 160, in my zone for 39 minutes.
Strength/metabolic workout went like this:
box pistols-3 sets 4 reps 20# kettlebell pair then 50 15# swings
low front squat- 3 sets six reps 20# pair then 50 15# sings
1 leg deadlift- 3 sets 4 reps 20# pair then 25 35# swings
step back lunge pass kettlebell through front leg-2 sets 12 reps 35# then 25 35# swings
good mornings- 3 sets 6 reps 20# kettlebell pair then 50 25# hand to hand swings
1 swing, 1 clean, 1 snatch- 5 right then 5 left
step ups- 3 sets 12 reps 20# kettlebell pair then 50 20# swings
1 round metabolic circuit group 2(I was getting tired here)
single leg alternating squat thrust 45 seconds(I hate these)
cross behind step up and over bench(I used 12 inch step) 2 min
explosive step ups(10 inch step) 1 min
bodyweight alternating step up(10 inch) 1 min
dynamic lunge with overhead med ball reach-10# 1 min
lunge jumps 45 sec
This workout was 50 min excluding the treadmill and stretching

Debbie, my barstools all have backs so when I did the leg swing up and over thing I just sat my high step up with all 8 risers and used it.

I was thinking of using my high step. I'll try it next week. Thanks! And excellent workout today!

Hi Everyone -

It's my day off, but I had an 8:00 am doc appt. I got up at 5 AM and did Brazilian Butt Lift Rio Extreme (50" cardio/weight circuit). Max HR was only 140. Couldn't get it up there again. I only used light weights cuz it's a cardio day. I burned 508 calories in 58".

Then I went to the doctor and came home and did another half hour of cardio. I did Cardio Axe from Brazilian Butt Lift. Not sure why my HR got so high for this one, as it wasn't even high impact (didn't even need my Rebounder). Workout was 30" and I burned 412 calolries. Max HR was 168 and it hovered between 158-168 the entire half hour. That was a surprise.

Getting ready to go for my massotherapy appt. I'll be back later.

Lora, that is interesting about the HR and that workout you did. I wonder if it will be up there next time. I love workouts that get my hr up without all of the impact.

Roselyn, I am sure you did get some results with Insanity. Just the 3 I have I can see some improvement:D
