HARD CORE FITNESS MANIACS FOR WED FEB 2

Did lower body blast, ab work from TF and about 20 minutes of Hiit work, we did some ice here and only about 3 inches of snow, they predicted a blizzard all day long and we get 3 inches, which is good just don't know how slippery it is underneath waiting to hear from my hubby.

Today was total body and I had a good workout.

I had to skip the leg part of this workout again, due to my knee.

Todays workout:

4 sets/8 reps with 1 minute 30 second rest between each set.

Upright Rows - 2/12 - 25# (warmup)
Upright Rows - 45#/1 set; 50#/3 sets
Incline Hammer Curls - 25's/8/8/6/6
***Had a real hard time getting to 8 reps on the last 2 sets. Should have lightened up a bit.
Overhead Tricep Extensions - 15's
Incline Barbell Press - 80#
Barbell Rows - 75#

Need to find a knee brace or some stretchy stuff to wrap my knee with. Ice isn't helping, Aleve isn't helping. I still have over $400 to pay on my echo from last year and now our deductible starts all over. I don't have $1k to pay for this problem. This is ridiculous, even with insurance I can't go to the damn doctors.

We got the ice, but not as bad as predicted. I'm attempting to go to work. Hopefully the roads are ok. Ours looks ok, it doesn't look shiney at all.

Roselyn-I am glad you didn't get the blizzard....we got it for you. 14 inches of snow........it sucks :(

Debbie-I am sorry the knee is giving you so much trouble. Is it by chance the same leg that gave you the inner thigh trouble? I posed links to the trigger point workbooks, it may be worth checking out before you have to shell out crazy deductible money to go to the doc.......?

Diane Sue-I am sorry you flight got rexheduled, they are usually pretty good about getting that cleared quickly. I hope you get to Vegas soon.....and iwth a hotel room at that

Yesterday I did STS Total Body compound premix no abs. I am always amazed at how shaky my legs get right after this. I don't have horrible doms today which surprises me.

Kind of rushed this morning. The next couple days will be extra busy. I did a little bit of everything yesterday: about an hour and a half of weights mixed with cardio and some plyo (my own mix), with High Reps triceps and shoulders added on the end. Pretty good workout. I will do the rest of the High Reps upper body (with add ons) over the next day or so. I'll check in when I can. About another week and a half of training to go.

Roselyn - Very good workout this morning :) I'm glad the blizzard didn't hit as hard as they predicted -- hope the roads are safe.

Debbie - Same to you (about the weather and workout :p). The knee/medical situation -- CRAP :( - It IS ridiculous when you can't get the care you need, even though you (supposedly) have coverage. Kind of worried about your knee, if nothing's helping. Wish I had some words of wisdom -- I'll keep you in my prayers. Since I started this check-in, it seems like I almost always have an 'injury list' in that department

Have a good day.

Lori

Roselyn - Glad you didn't get what they predicted. We didn't either. We got the ice rain but not as bad as they said. I made it to work fine with hardly no slipping. I'm always glad when they blow storms like this out of proportion. I'd rather prepare for the worst and then it not be as bad as they thought.

Theresa - Yes, it's the same leg. I'm pretty sure it was the bike that did it, I just don't know why. I looked for that book you recommended on my Nook but they don't offer it. I'll need to get to a library or store and get it, and I plan too. I just haven't had time with the weather and work. Thanks again for posting it, I'm really interested in getting it and I sure hope it helps.

Lori - Thanks for the prayers. I don't know what else to do. Like I said, I cannot afford a doctor visit right now. I refuse to pay that much money after they take out $$$ every damn week from our paychecks. I'm telling you, this country needs to do something about health insurance because it's just getting ridiculous. When I went to the emergency room about my ankle last June it cost me over $900!!! That was all deductible. So here we're paying so much a month PLUS the deductible. We don't use doctor offices enough to meet our deductible so our visits are always 100% on us. I'm just so mad about it.

Sorry about the rant! It's just really bad when you can't take care of yourself because of cost. It never use to be that way.

Morning :D

Once again, I have nothing to report, argh…..really been feeling under the weather. And I know why, last week there was a few people sick here on the job, and on top of that. The cleaning lady came in Friday as we were talking she coughed right in my f$#$$$$ face. I had to yell at her, I thought that was rude, when you know you are sick. But,:( am feeling better each day. I plan to do something tomorrow, I don’t care if it’s just abs I am doing something!!!! But, after work going home and getting straight in my bed. I hate this!!!!

Nice work everyone!

Lori-good for you on your 1.5 hours of everything :D I sure hope your schedule slows down to normal soon :)

Debbie-that is what I thought it might be, you must have some imbalance going on there. From what I am reading, certain muscles weaken with stress/inury (fast twitch) and certain muscles shorten with stress (slow twitch-postural type muscles). You must have a shortenening on that side from something. It doesn't have to be an overnight thing either, it can be (and most likely is) from repetitive issues that the body treats as an injury. I sure hope you can get that book (either one would be good), and in the mean time-spend a lot of time foam rolling and static stretching. Ok....sorry to inundate you with info. It just struck a MAJOR cord with me and the shoulder/trap thing. I have tried to be very aware of my need stretch, work on balance and stability, and treat myself a little nicer. I am mainly pissed at myself for letting it get to the point that my shoulder was freakin' dislocated

Teddygirl - Hope you feel better! It sucks to be sick. I'm having a slight sore throat today and hiping it doesn't turn into anything more. I'm od'ing on Vitamin C.

Theresa - I am so glad you inundate me with info. Really, I need to figure out what is going on. I just called my sister-in-law, I knew she might be going to the library today (not sure it's opened), I gave her the book name and she said she would look for it for me, so thank you. I'm wondering if the knee pain has anything to do with my inner thigh as well. We'll see. Thank you!

Debbie- I would suspect that the knee pain is related to the inner thigh trouble you have had. I really think the quad is shortened-which will pull at both ends of the insertion points (the inner thigh and knee). Let's see if I can help you until you can get that book. Is the pain right in the middle of your knee or toward one side (inner or outer knee) or above the knee slightly? If it's right in the center of the knee or toward the side, then it's a quad issue (do some quad stretching and foam rolling there-really taking your time over the tender spots and holding pressure on those areas for about 20 sec. IF the pain is above the knee and runs the length of your leg, it is more than likely a problem with your inner thigh. Therefore, foam roll that area (despite how dirty it looks  ) and stretch your inner thighs-long holds for each stretch. Also, to strengthen that area, squeeze a rubber ball between your legs (like the thigh master). The book recommends seated leg extension (without weight) to strengthen the quad.

For the stretch of the inner thigh, it recommends laying on your back with one leg hanging off the side of the bed or table. Bring the other knee to your chest and hold. Also, I would spend some time on the hip flexors, as a seated job can cause those to shorten over time.

Also, did you see the link for the other book? I wonder if that one is on the nook? It looks like either one would be a great investment, and the second link seemed to have more info that the first.

I hope that helps some.....:D

ETA: Teddy-good for you for saying something to the lady who coughed in your face......really, do people not know the germ theory by now?

Theresa - Thank you so much for typing all that. The pain seems to be right in the middle of my knee and hurts REALLY bad when I bend it. That's why I'm not doing any quad stretches because it hurts too bad to bend. Maybe the foam roller will help, I'll try that tonight as well as the inner thigh roll and do it in the privacy of my workout room. LOL!!! I'll see how that feels then tomorrow. I printed out what you said. I'm with you, I think this pain is related to my inner thigh problem, although that seems to be gone now. I can't say for sure because I haven't been on my treadmill for long periods of time, but it doesn't feel that tight anymore.

I will check for the other book as well, maybe my Nook will have it. I'm hoping my SIL will find the first one you recommended.
