Morning Maniacs -
This morning was supposed to be a weight day, but since I did 2 weight/cardio circuits in a row, I figured, I should probably do something different today. I did Intensati - Great Body, Great Mind with Patricia Moreno. Workout was 65" and I burned 590 calories (big surprise for me). I was shocked at how high my HR got during the upper body cardio segment...went up to 160 with my feet firmly planted on the ground and zero impact.
This workout basically has an upper body cardio segment, lower body cardio segment and a yoga segment. You repeat positive affirmations throughout the workout. You say things like "I am strong now" "I will succeed". "The power in me bows to the power in you" and a few other sayings. It's not for everyone....but I figured I needed it since I've been so discouraged in my life with everything and with work being so slow due to the economy.
I once emailed Patricia Moreno to ask her how she trained (cuz I think her physique is awesome - her upper body is soooo cut!). She responded that she mainly kickboxes, does yoga and the high rep workouts like the Intensati workouts.
Have great workouts everyone.
Theresa - now I'm curious. What do you do for a living? I was a medical secretary for 27 years plus....but I kept losing my job due to downsizing, etc. I had an MRI back around 2000 when I worked for the Neurosurgeon. He's the one that found the 3 disc bulges in my neck. I have one at C6-7 that is the largest of the three and although not impinging on the spinal cord, it is abutting it it and causing a lot of my neck/shoulder problems. I also have facet joint problems due to a spur and degeneration. I do not want another MRI. I won't have surgery no matter what they find. I was told a long time ago that I'd probably need surgery when I was older.....but again, the neurosurgeon I used to work for was pretty conservative and always told peeps to stay away from having their spine surgically altered until it was the absolute last resort. I also have sciatica.....and I don't want to know what I have going on in my lower back. I will simply exercise, stretch, do yoga, and try to treat my symptoms with my foam roller and Elaine Petrone balls like I have for the last 10 Plus years. I have been for PT several times over the years and had trigger point injections, electric muscle stim, massage, etc. and it always helps temporarily. Sorry to babble.
