Hard-boiled egg question

That's about as off-topic as you can get . . .

I am scheduled to make 5 dozen hard-boiled eggs for an upcoming Passover seder (actually, both seders Wed. and Thurs. next week), and I was planning on boiling up the eggs Sunday, and then peeling, slicing and wrapping each egg in its own tinfoil wrapper on Tuesday night. Hubby would then bring the whole truckload over on Wednesday night.

Question: will the eggs go bad outside of their little shells by Thursday night, if I've wrapped them nice and tight in their little foil wrappers Tuesday night and keep them nice and cold? (Please say NO)

You can tell I don't cook very much.

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Annette,

I regularly make hard-boiled eggs on sundays and keep 'em in the fridge peeled so my husband & I can grab 'em & go. They last all week. I keep them in tupperware. The only thing I would wonder about is keeping them in tinfoil for a few days. May give them a weird taste, I'm not sure. Can you keep them in tupperware after peeling and then slice them the night before?

Maybe others have experience with tin foil :)

Happy Passover!

Annette,
I agree with Marnie. The eggs should last four days our of the shells, but not in tin foil. Tin foil causes foods to oxidize, giving them a bad taste and causing some toxicity that is not healthy. Go for the tupperware or even baggies would be better. Good luck.

The tin-foil may leave toxic green marks on your eggs. Just put them in plastic until the last day.

RE: Thank you all!

Thanks for your responses! I may not be able to negotiate the tinfoil thing with the hostess (she's lovely but a little dotty), but I'll do what I can.
