Happy Licking Dogs

Everytime I get done working out, after sweating alot, my dog wants to lick me non stop. I think it is gross and she drives me nuts as I sit here and type this...she is licking me...gosh!!!! I kindly put her aside and tell her "no". I always know I had a good workout when she comes over to try to lick me. Anyone else have dogs that do this? It is annoying.

Hi Charlotte
I have a four year old golden retriever and she patiently waits for me to begin my stretching after my workout. Then she is all over me-trying to lick and snuggle! She especially likes to crawl underneath me when I am stretching my hip flexors (one leg forward and other back with knee on the ground) She just wants the attention I so selfishly withheld from her while I workout! Poor baby! It's so hard to ignore her and if I say anything to her, it just encourages her to try harder!

I have the same issue with my dog. It drives me CRAZY ! The one thing that I do that helps is if I blow in his face a couple of times. He gets tired of ME annoying HIM and goes back to his pillow.

I lock all living creatures out of the room I exercise in...my dog would be in the way from start to finish if I didn't! LOL

My Pomeranian does the same thing. Yesterday as I was doing crunches, his tongue was going up and down with me as I did them. Yuk! But other times he'll just patiently sit by me and watch. Then he looks so cute, I hate to yell at him.

My cat Scooter likes to 'join me' for floor work, and he often tries to wash my ears(!) and my armpits (if I'm sweaty). I usually let him (but IMO, little kitty tongues are much less gross than big slimy dog tongues!).

I too have to lock the dog out of the room. She loves to lick my legs when I'm done my workout. She also likes to sit on my stomach when I'm doing crunches. I love the weighted resistance but 80 lbs of dog is not that comfy!

My dog loves to lick armpits too! It's not just when I am sweaty though...I think he likes the taste of deoderant!!!

OMG .. ME TOO .. mine try to catch my feet (he thinks I am playing w/him) .. and he trys to make me stop moving .. then .. if say I am doing floor work .. he tries to lay down on top of my legs or stomach to make me stop .. LOL .. (and at 130 # is a LOT of added weight to those leg lifts)

Too funny .. :D

My cats believe that steps are actually feline suntan beds and I have to shake a can of coins to get them off! :) I also don't let the dog in while I'm working out, because he would just be jumping around and generally going nuts. I'm not sure if he likes deodorant, though. lol

Yep, just yesterday at the end of YogaX my little Bisquit (she is sooooo cute) comes over and starts licking. Mind you I am supposed to be relaxing and breathing. Of course I start to laugh. She does this all the time LOL!!

ETA: Oh yeah, forgot to say that if I take my workout clothes off and throw them on the floor she will proceed to lick them -EWWWWWWWWW!!!

My cats couldn't care less about the sweat... but my boy George LOVES my deodorant and it's so gross!!! He wakes me up by *licking* my armpit!!! That's just wrong, LOL!!!

The best part is when he stops licking my armpit and gets his confused look on his face why his tongue isn't working right after all the antipersperant...

This morning when I was doing yoga I jumped back from forward bend into pushup pose and almost landed on my girl Gracie!! I was so scared!! But she just sauntered away up towards my face for some kisses...

It's the salt. Most animals love salt. My big old dog Cosmo never licks me unless it's to get to sweat. Maximus, on the other hand, is just about the kissiest dog I've ever met.
