Hand placement

Hi Cathe,

I work out with you 3+ times a week. How important is it to keep your hands on your hips when you do plie jacks, etc.? I usually keep my hands in the guard position.

(Not Cathe, as you will figure out, but) I don't think hand placement is particularly important for this move, unless you need more back stability (not really a factor in this move vs. moves where you are bent forward). Some people may find that the hands on the hips allows them to jump higher because of the upper body stabilizing, but otherwise, put your hands wherever you feel most comfortable.
 
I agree with Kathryn. I know during one blast of Kick Max where Cathe does the airborne jumps, she actually circles her arms out and up instead of in and up. I can not do that. I have to circle my arms in to help get my butt in up in the air. :p
