Hairloss update and other plans...

Hello,

It has been about 2 months since I wrote the original hairloss thread. Thanks to everyone replied. Here is my update.

I finally got the results back from my NEW endocrinologist who thought I had PCOS. My testerone had been way up in January. The new blood work I got done in March showed that everything was back to normal. She thinks that my hairloss was due to the high dose of levothyroxine that my old endo prescribed. She believes that my hair should start growing back in a couple of months. We shall see... She wants to see me again in 6 months. I am to call her after 2 months if my hair has not sarted to grow in again.

She did not rule out PCOS either. It is just going to have to take time to see whether the PCOS cause the hairloss or the levothyroxine. She does believe that my years of
(mostly) healthy eating and exercising have kept the PCOS at bay. She does not think I need to go on any anti-insulin meds at this point. So, I have contacted an individual to see about getting some meal plans to help shred the excess layer of fat I have. I am doing STS and I do see some results which is great, but I know my hit and miss diet is sabotaging my hard work.

I am not creative or good about creating my own diet plans so I contacted a local fitness/figure coach who I will met next month to talk about what I ned to do to shred this fat. She came recommended by another member at my gym who also happens to compete in contests. ibasically need to be told what to eat and how much of it and when to eat it. Seriously, this does not other me much sinc efood is judt fuel to me anyway. Right now I just eat to much of good things and a meal plan would keep me in check - I like to follow those things. It is just the way my brain works. Without a plan - I am lost and I just eat the same thing over and over agin until I get bored and fall off the wagon into a bowl of ice cream or a plate of brownies.

I will keep you posted. I am just glad there is hope for this hairloss.

I have been taking the biotin. I am going to add in some Vitamin B and some primrose as well.

Thanks again to everyone!!!

Good news!

Becky, that is very good news -- you must be relieved! Keep up the good work (eating, exercising) because it can only benefit you in all ways.

Also good about not needing the anti-insulin meds. (My DH is on one because of his elevated blood sugar. Trying to keep him from becoming diabetic by serving healthier meals, but he still cheats.)

As for food, it's a good thing you're getting advice. Right now I'm enjoying "The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook" (Tosca Reno), and "The Food You Crave" (Ellie Krieger). They are both full of easy, delicious recipes that are good for you. I am not a super-skilled cook, so I love these cookbooks.

Thanks for the update, Becky. I've been thinking about you.
