Gym Style vs. Pure Strength

Hi,
I am debating on ordering the gym style series or the pure strength series. I am leaning more towards the pure strength series since it is cheaper. What would those of you who have both series suggest? Which one is better and why? Thanks.

I'd get the Gym Styles if I were you. I find GS to be more thorough, more varied and just more fun. GS uses a resistence band (in addition to the usual dumbbells and barbell). Pure Strength is a good series, don't get me wrong, but it's a little outdated (in terms of set, outfits, etc), so if that sort of thing bothers you, PS might not be your cup of tea. The upper body segments of PS are kind of short, but that does make it easy to tack them on to a cardio workout. I tend to use PS when I'm focussing on cardio, but also want to bang out a quick bicep or tricep workout (or whatever).

I definitely think the Gym Styles are worth the extra money.

Hi,

I like Cathe's Pure Strength series. It doesn't have the dread factor for me as the Gym Style workouts. I sold the Gym Style workouts but Pure Strength is a keeper.

Like many ladies have said, the Gym Styles are an UPDATED version of PS. A lot of the exercises in Gym Styles are in PS. Cathe plays with the counts and does a lot of rhythm changes in Gym Styles so that the reps are slower and the sets, longer, than in PS. PS may be "old" but it is still one of the mainstays of my strength routine. I actually like the back work in PS more because of the T-bar rows, which works a different part of my back. I like having both series to rotate. If you're looking for something cheaper, PS is a good choice. I definitely got my money's worth on it and got a lot of strength gains as well. You can just add the Gym Styles later.
