I really hate it when gushy people hijack forum topics to air their obsessions with Sci-fi. Just kidding, just kidding. Am I one of the gushy ones? Maybe. I do love Cathe's workouts, I love the improvements in my body and attitude because of working out with Cathe, and I love the friends I have made here.
Oh yeah, I love Jimmy Buffett music too.
And palm trees, I forgot I love palm trees.
And the beach.
And kittens.
And my DH, DD, and DS.
Yeah, I guess maybe I am one of the gushers. Oh well.

LOL, Robin.

I was planning on starting a different post about sci-fi...but now I am posting here to say that I planned to before I saw your joke and that I am NOT doing so in response to your comment. Didn't want to think that I was offended and then be offended yourself because it was not your intention to be offensive...:+

LOL Sparrow, start a Sci-fi thread. I will not be offended. I also will not be gushing about Sci-fi. But I will respect your choice to gush. Now, if you start one about sub-titled foreign films, I may have to gush a little. Or one about Jimmy Buffett's music, palm trees, kittens, and my family....

I am probably a gusher. I love life and I love having a mentor as wonderful as Cathe. I love that she is so personable and that she TRULY cares about this forum. I will never forget someone saying that being happy is a decision and you either are or your not. I choose to be happy. It is all about our individual attitudes. I love coming on this forum and seeing kindness and support everywhere. Yep, I am a gusher, but I have a lot of people in my life, including my husband, who is very even tempered and sees me as too giddy a lot of the time. Interesting post:)

ITA. What harm does gushing do? Who does it hurt? I can understand the gushing being annoying to you. But letting it bother you isn't worth the energy or the negative impact it can have on your spirit.

Seriously, if people want to gush, gush away. Don't like the ooze, politely close it and move on. As long as someone isn't getting psycho stalkerish crazy or oozing something rather offensive, rock on. I do agree that if you post a buzzworthy thread, you should be prepared for a variety of, ahem, thoughts on the topic ;) I guess Cathe just brings that out in a lot of us - through her many, many of us have made so many lifelong changes. That's kind of gushworthy, isn't it?

I have learned the hard way that with message boards the best thing to do is stay out of any discussions you disagree with, no matter how strongly you feel. Unfortunately polite debate does not work well in the electronic world and you may find yourself on the on the receiving end of an attack you had no intention of starting. The same holds true on a wide variety of message boards and blogs and I don't find it worth my time to get into arguments with cyberpeople.
So gush away kids. Personally, I find your enthusiasm contageous. When any of us find you too neauseating we'll tune out and save our aggravation for things that truly matter.
BTW, I really do believe Ms. Cathe kicks butt ;-) <Gush!>

Janie, the smiley faces are two the left of the box you are posting in. When you want one, leave your cursor in the box, and take your mouse over and click on the smiley.
:) :) ;-) ;) }( :D :p :7 :* :9 There now you can gush with smileys!

I hope noone who is gushy even thinks about stopping.

Heck, I'm blunt, serious, mischevious, introspective, foolish, silly and gushy all in one...just depends on the day, the time, the mood. Today I'm a biter...watch out.}(

P.S. Janie, I look forward to your gushy use of smileys.;-) :) :D :7 :+

Olivia, I relate to what you're saying. I came here today to read the 'announcement' and I saw there were 100+ responses and from past Cathe experience...knew 85 of those posts would be gushing Cathe we love you goo. To each their own. I just don't read beyond the announcement I came here to read.

I've never been fanatical about anything to the point of telling someone I worshiped them or I loved them, beyond my family anyway. But look back to the 50's when the Beatles and Elvis were huge. Girls would cry, scream, and tear their clothes when The Beatles walked out on stage! Women would faint dead away when Elvis took the stage!

There's all personality types out there. I don't understand some of them but then, they probably wouldn't understand my fetish for vintage china and the BBC murder mystery series' of Midsomer Murder's, Sherlock Holmes and Poirot. I have them all on dvd. Oh dear, I left out Miss Marple! ;-)

Oh...and...I liked the original Star Trek and The Next Generation too.

Honestly, and I'm not trying to start anything here, but I don't understand the point at all. As I see it, Cathe posted an update and her fans replied enmasse to express their excitement over the long awaited news that filming would begin. I really didn't see a lot of "I love you goo" and as far as I know, no one threw their panties (although I can't speak for what people toss at their computer screens at home:7 ).

Another point I think is missing is that people, myself included, want to show their support for Cathe who has been under a great deal of stress, I'm sure. I'd like to think that my simple message helped to boost her spirit.

Lastly, I think the 100 + messages are for Cathe so there really is no need for us to read every single reply. I just think it's a little sad really, for people to be so concerned about Cathe's fans being excited over her update and wanting to show their support. I didn't see a lot of goo, but then I like goo and mush and I'll take mine with chocolate sauce and a cherry on top:+

Ok let's see if this works.:) Oh, Oh, I think I got it!:7

Oh, now you all will see sugary gushy:p

As long as I don't have my remark at the end, then it works. I'll just put it in after my smilies.:7

Excuse me, but I have to practice...;( }( :7 :9

Oh Yeah!:*

Thank you so much Dorothyrd for the know how on smilies, and your support Melody and Imafitnessfreak. Oh, yes, I'm a Star Trek fan.

I so agree with you, though. Very nicely said!

Hi Olivia,

I have been using Cathe and reading her forum for light years (I'll keep with the sci-fi theme). So here's my input:

People come here for various reasons and hopefully they find support, motivation, knowledge, comradery, and much more. Many people today don't workout and don't understand those who do or don't understand the fitness journey. Here is a place where people understand and a lot comes out, including emotions about all knids of stuff.

I see Cathe as someone who has excelled at her chosen career, plain & simple. She is a pioneer in home workouts. Her offerings have helped people to get into shape and her forum has brought people together. Cathe has touched people in diffeent ways and this stirs up emotions. Over the years, I have seen some posts that seem a bit much, but cyber space can be hard to interpret at times. People sometimes show emotion through the written word cause it is the internet.

You shouldn't be bothered with post to Cathe because.... those replies are for Cathe and Cathe's updates won't be in those replies, unless they are repeated by a forum member. Maybe you would feel more comfortable just looking at Cathe's updates.

No harm in asking though,
jordan

Janie!!! I'm jumping up and down with excitement over your practicing of gushy smiley use. You've got it!

Michele,

ROTFLMAO:7

Great point Michele!

Cathe has done so much for so many people and I think it's great that they give back by doing something for her and making her feel special for what she's done.

What's the harm?
