GS legs...Knocked out of commission

God, On monday I decided I'd do the Gym Style Legs after my P90x upper body workout. I haven't done the Legs for a while because I thought my legs were getting a little too big. I dropped my barbell down to 30lbs where I used to do 40lbs. I could not walk the next day. In fact I have missed 3 days of workouts because I can't do anything besides basic walking and at a slow pace. Anyone do this to themselves? I'm so frustrated that I missed all my other workouts this week.

I just finished a P90X classic rotation. I took a week off with no workouts because I was out of town. As you know there is virtually no heavy wt work in P90X. What did I do today? S&H legs }( }( Like you, I lightened my load. But man at the end my legs were quivering sooooo much. I guess I'll see tomorrow if I can walk or not!!

Yep, I hadn't done GS Legs for a long time, and when I did it, I went as heavy as possible. I had the 3-day doms, too, and thought, "WTH, I thought I was in good shape?!!!" It took me a long time to do it again because I was dreading it. (Plus everytime I looked at our staircase, I just groaned.) So last time, I used 1/2 of what Cathe uses and didn't push myself so hard. I was fine the next day. My plan is to work up slowly, even though I'm able to lift heavier.

Gotta love those GS workouts.

I'm finishing my 3rd of a 4 week rotation of GS workouts and never fail to have DOMS, legs being the absolute worse. I have a smith machine and for some foolish reason, I always add leg extensions and curls and abductor/adductor work with the cable - sometimes we just don't think do we?

I knew I'd probably feel a little sore the next day but I in no way thought that every step I took would feel like torture... :( Good luck tomorrow. }(

I have started and stopped exercises many times in my life but the last time I started (3-4 years ago), I began with Beach Body's Great Body Guaranteed Series on VHS. Well, I did the thighs one for the first time and let me just tell you! OMG! I could hardly walk the next day! My coworker was in hysterics at the things I had to do just to get in and out of my chair and make my way around the office at work. FORGET going down the stairs! That was a complete joke! :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

So I guess what I'm trying to say is....

YEAH! I've DEFINATELY been there!;)

I did GSL for the first time on Tuesday. My legs have been sore ever since. I heavied up not knowing how tough it really was. I look so pathetic trying to walk. All I can manage is a hobble.

Wendy!! I'm LOL at your post and the others.... remembering. When I started doing weight work (even before I started on the Firm), I had looked up weight exercises on the internet and found a web site that demonstrated the exercise, etc. Well...... I started doing lunges and thought "this isn't so bad!!" I kept on doing them until I couldn't do them anymore (now I know that's muscle failure...LOL) this was all without weight!!

The next day I could barely walk and the day after that DH had to help me off the toilet!!! I was never in such pain!! I had more or less a shuffling walk!! All I heard from DH was "do some more exercise, it's good for you!!" I'd have hurt him if I could have moved fast enough!!

Yes, the toilet is a problem with those kinds of DOMS! I remember after the first basketball practice of the season I always got the get out of bed in the middle of the night and fall down kind of DOMS. Just a piece of advice: take the stairs sideways. Or on your butt, like little kids do. This helps A LOT!

Not a stupid question, "Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness" the brutal, addictive burning in the muscles after a tough workout. }( }(

I did GS legs this afternoon and just felt the need to come and share the "love" we all feel for that workout.x(

Yup, I had quit it for probably 5 months or so while I was doing strictly P90x upper body and aerobics. My first workout last week was on Saturday and I had worked my legs on Monday. I was taking baby steps Tues-Wed and slightly better on Thurs. I missed almost a whole week of workouts because of it.
