Grumpy No More!

Thanks for letting me whine here on Wednesday. As predicted, I got it all out of my system and was relaxed, happy and well-behaved yesterday. I enjoyed the company of my DH's family! They're really not so bad. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) my SIL is not a good cook, and I just ate the polite amount.

Next up: Thanksgiving at my Mom's today. This is what I was saving my appetite for. The food will be awesome. Being well-behaved will require some effort, but after yesterday's success, I think I'm up to the task.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Thanks again guys! :D

surprisenly everybody at MIL was well behaved too. nobody got drunk out of their minds. her MIL(or grandmother as we call her) did most of the cooking so i ate most of that food b/c my MIL can't cook either LOL. waaaaaayyyyyy to many marshmallows in her sweet potatoes. its more like putting some sweet potatoes in her marshmallow pie LOL. i ate like a pig pretty much at dessert. but i made up for it by going another mile on my run this morning. i don't feel to bad about it. family was fun for once, food was good, kids got some exercise so we are happy with that LOL. hope you have fun at your mom's today nancy

Hi Nancy,

I'm glad you had an enjoyable holiday. I know what you mean about holding your tongue.;-) I had one small incident yesterday, but all is well. I did do the eye roll when I turned around though. :)

Have fun today and enjoy the "good" food!

Nancy,
My husband and I head off the dreaded Bad Thanksgiving Day experience by pre-scheduling a holiday we call Do Over. The Sunday after Thanksgiving weekend (Dec 3 this year) we have a full on just our family turkey dinner. We may not have everything and the turkey is smaller, but we do it just for ourselves so that if we have been to a big celebration with cold food and drunken capers, we can have a little bit of sanity and just our family. It has been a really fun extra little holiday. Sometimes we invited any good friends who disappointed by a Thanksgiving where the turkey ran out or the gravy was awful, then can participate, but with the caveat that it is totally low key and they totally have to help.

Nancy, I'm glad it went well. Sometimes when you expect the very worse, things turn out to not be so bad. And you whine to us any old time. That's what we're here for.

Actually, Robin, seeing how well it worked yesterday, I'm going to take you up on that today. Let me rant a little before I have to leave to go to my mother's:

My brother and family will be there today. As some of you remember, my stepson was married in September. My brother came with his whole family of five, which was great. I know how petty this must sound, but with his gift he was truly the least generous person who came to the wedding and what it says to me is that he has not accepted my stepson as one of the family. Meanwhile, my stepson feels so close to him, that he included the whole family in the posed pictures!! I needed to rant about that so I don't act angry when I see him. I want this to be a nice day. Thanks for listening.

Thanks, Christine. As it turned out, we had a great time at my mother's too. So both days were excellent. This has been one of the best holidays I can ever remember having! :D :D

Is all well with you?

-Nancy

I am just glad it is all over. I won't even go into my holiday.....let's just say it wasn't as good as Nancy's but better than it COULD have been...LOL

Tis the season!!:)
