GREAT news on my blood test results!

Well, mostly great news. The best news is that in the past year- since I started with Cathe in a serious way, my Triglycerides are down 22%!!!! :D:D My HDL (good cholesterol) is up to 75! 60 is ideal!! Dr. H says those two numbers are a DIRECT result of my hard work and eating better. Now, the poopy part is my Total and Bad numbers did not budge.... thanks Mom and Dad (my sisters total is over 300!).

I am statin intolerant- you know, I'm in that 2% that they warn if you have these symptoms, stop taking the drugs immediately. Ugh!! (this includes Red Yeast Rice in natural forms)

We are adding Niacin in addition to all of the other supplements including all 3 Omegas, CoQ10, CLA, Cinnamon and a plethora of others.

I'm open to any other natural or OTC ideas if anybody has them. I will of course run ANY ideas to my doctor.

Overall, I'm thrilled!!

Pam

That's great news Pam! It is that HDL that's most important! Don't you just hate genetics? Keep up the good work!

Pam, great job!! :D Congrats on all your hard work and hopefully you'll find something that works to combat those nice genetics. ;) Be careful with the niacin (niacin flush is awful!!)

Hi Sandra,

Yeah, my doctor warned me about the niacin flush and told me to take it at night so it doesn't bother me 'cuz I'm asleep. So, is the flush like a 'hot-flash' or just a skin thing?

Thanks!
Pam

Be careful with the dose! Also, my NP told me to take it in the form niacinamide, but the pharmacist gave it to me in the form of nicotinic acid--:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Felt like a hot flash coming on, then hot around my neck, then REALLY uncomfortable, then RED ALL OVER MY BODY like a bad sunburn. It was awful!! I took benadryl and it went away in a few hours but it freaked me out. I almost went to the ER.

HI Sandra!

Yikes!! That's some scary stuff! I'm gonna double check what I have. Vitamin Cottage also had a non-flusing formula but it wasn't in extended release - not sure if that matters. I think I'm going to double check with my doctor! I don't need anything that even remotely resembles a panic attack!! Especially being home alone with my son!

Thanks again!
Pam
