Great blog about exercising

Good blog.

You know, many people think I am obsessed with exercise because I work out regularily at a high level. But I answered no to all the questions. I have the confidence in myself that I know if I have an appointment, take a vacation, have something come up with friends and family, get sick, whatever, that when it is all done, I will come back to it.

I know this, but still I get looked upon as odd for exercising over 5 hours a week. So many people do not do anything, or maybe walk 3 times a week(and I am not dissing that, because it is better than nothing!), and they look upon someone committed to pysical fitness as having some sort of mental disease. I see it with me, I see it with some people I know that exercise regularily like I do. In the same breathe of saying we do too much, we get asked how we get the muscle tone and fitness that we have, well duh.

Sorry end of rant, I have some weight lifting to do before I get to work and sit on my fanny all day.

edit, its early i read something wrong and was rebuting LOL. i agree great blog, i though ya'll didn't agree. see what happens when you miss a sentence LOL.

dorothy, then these ppl on your case need to read up on eating disorders. its about control and how think and react whenyou feel you are losing it, which most with this disorder would feel if they couldn't do their workouts. i know i have been guilty of it and i have to step back and re-evaulate my thoughts.as women most of us worry about how we look and what the scales said that,IMO,that is when the obsession with workouts and eating began and things could get out of control.i DON"T see that in you or many here. i think ppl who stand on the outside and judge can't possibilty have any say b/c they don't know how you think. when they could do that then maybe they can say. your right its all about jealousy i believe. they like what they see but they don't like the hardwork b/c of misunderstandings or just laziness. i have dealt with both kinds and neither go anywhere and they are the ones more OBSESSED-with concerning about me then themselves. just my obsevations. given the chance i might go all day on this LOL. but i will stop now

:)

I am not disagreeing with the article, but also see how what I see as a good healthy thing can get tagged as being obsessive because today's society is so underexercised. My father started working out hard every day in his early 40's. It was not because of weight, because he was naturally skinny. Now in his later 70's, he is still in awesome shape. It helped him recover from cancer, has helped him age well. Exercise does such great things for aging, I wish people would understand this better.

It's really too bad that everything in our society is done to extremes: We either eat way too much or way too little, exercise obsessively or are couch potatoes, etc. I wish we could all take a step back (including myself) and just live our lives day to day. Jen's article is interesting but I wish we could start focusing on more balance in our well being instead of the constant stories of obesity or bulimia/anorexia. I'm not saying to ignore these things, but maybe just spend more time promoting health and balance instead of focusing on all the negatives.

It's MUCH easier said than done, I know. Maybe in my next lifetime...
