GPS vehicle tracker

Do any of you have one of these or know anyone that does have one? I saw it on an episode of "Hogan Knows Best" last year and I was wondering about one, where to buy, how they work, good brand for low price, etc. Thanks in advance.

My sister has a Magellan. I think it works well especially for finding places of interest in bigger cities. We went to Reno this weekend and it took us right to the places we needed to be at. I think they are fairly pricey but worth it if you travel a lot...:)

Do you want a raod map GPS or a track your veicle GPS.
All i know is you have to have one that updates the streets.. Or U will get lost. I have thought about a portable to take to a different veicle..I hate driving away alone..
I can not read a map... DUH...

Oh, if you are looking for a navigational system, I highly recommend the Garmin StreetPilot C340. I ordered mine through Amazon - I think it was $379.

I was talking about the ones that track a vehicle not the ones in cars to tell you where to go. Sorry for the confusion ;) . Thanks anyways everyone.

There was an article on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) about people stalking other people using those devices.

The concept is great, see where your teenagers are, if your spouse is straying etc, etc. But apparently there are some bad citizens who are harassing others by using them. From what I read they are easy to install, small and undetectable.

If you are looking for an alarm system to recover a car, look into LoJack. It is installed in a car. You get a serial number. If the car is stolen, you report it. The homing beacon is turned on. The police find your car.

They even make LoJack for laptop computers.

The first two links I posted are exactly what you're looking for.

We have one in our mini van. I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT IT NOW!!! The best is travelling to places we've never been. No more tension in the van. You can either put the address or phone number of where you're going or just the name and you get instant easy to follow directions. If you make a wrong turn you just press recalculate and a new route appears! I have officially been fired as navigator.

Oh, I also like it when on an interstate. You press buttons to see all the nearest gas staions, restaurants, hotels, etc. Plus, we can always find the closest starbucks anywhere! Definately worth the money for us.

Hi Toni & Cathy,

Funny I was just going to post this question. I just did a search yesterday for a vehicle tracker, but I was getting mostly navigation systems. I would like to get one for my teenage son's car.

Thanks so much,
Debbie
