Got my tapes..

but have a question for anyone. I tried to do the ab portion in Power Circuit and I couldn't keep myself up in the plank position very long. About 5-10 seconds and I was bringing my knees down to the floor. I would really start shaking in the ab area. Will I ever get stronger so I can stay up like Cathe does (amazing how she does that and her whole crew)? It was a great ab section but that plank stuff really got me. I think I rested more than I actually held the plank. Does anyone else have trouble doing the plank?

Just a thought...

I haven't received the new videos yet (I didn't make the pre-sale!), but on The Method Show when doing the plank, they say that you can hold the position with your knees down until you work up the strength to stay "up" in plank. I still feel the work even when I "rest" on my knees. So don't let that get you down, we can stil aspire to be like Cathe and Crew - isn't it nice to have such great models of excellence??!!

practice during commercials

while you're watching your favorite TV shows at night, instead of channel flipping during the commercials, practice plank position. Work toward holding it for one full commercial before your drop to your knees. Once you reach that goal, of course, go for two. Just keep it up till you can do the whole commercial break (which is actually quite a LONG time, I can't quite do it that long yet!)

Great Suggestion

I will have to try that. Commercials are what 1-2 minutes, wow that would be a long time but something to work up to.

tricial - yes it is great to have something to aspire to. They day that I can do all of Cathe's stuff without modifying, I will certainly celebrate.

Any ab or back work will help.

Just keep doing videos and it will come. When I first tried to do full push-ups, I didn't have the abdominal strength to hold myself rigid during the push-up. At that time there weren't any Pilates tapes so I just did the regular ab work and back extensions in my videos. After a year of doing this, I had the core strength I needed and could hold the plank with no problem. Any exercise for the midsection will help with this.
