Got My First Statement for the Rabies Shots!

That's for a person?! My insurance would cover that, why doesnt yours?

I thought you were talking about shots for a pet! Holy Crap!

DH and I are both self-employed, so we are also self-insured through a high-deductible health plan. Until we meet the deductible they only cover preventive services. It doesn't consider rabies treatment "preventive." Go figure.

Are you sure your insurance would cover this?

IIRC, Sparrow had a bat in thier house and had it tested for rabies which came back positive then she decided to have the shots because with rabies once you get the symptoms it is too late so this is a preventative measure and some insurance policies don't cover preventative care. It all depends on the wording in the policy.

Curious to know what the bulk of the $$ which goes into research, is research for what? For instance, Viagra seemed to end up quickly on the market, but they can't find a cure for AIDS? Hmmm....Just sayin', as I'm not an expert in pharmaceutical research.

They invest into whatever will make the pharma industry lots of money. Viagra brings in a lot profit, a cure for cancer not so much - they are making big bucks with cancer! Curing diseases is not a priority for the health industry. Afterall, where would be their profit if everyone was healthy?

My friend had to have htem a few years ago and the county paid for hte shots. Something you may be able to look into?
