Goodbye Middle School . . . Hello High School

Hi All,

My oldest son just "graduated" from middle school and has put those 3 years behind him . . . onward to high school we go.

It's incredible to me that my first baby is going to be in high school when it seems that just yesterday his father and I were taking him to his first day of kindergarten. Where does the time go?

I'm in this weird place of being happy and excited for him and his future -- he's a really great kid -- most of the time, let's not forget he is a teenager -- and at the same time I'm a little sad because it's going by so quickly.

5 years ago he was only 9, in 4th grade. . .

3 1/2 years ago he was 11 -- it still seemed like there was plenty of time :)

Then about 18 months ago he got taller than me - I'm 5'8" in this picture he was only 5'10 (but posing he's not showing you how much taller than me he is), now he's 6'1

and today he graduated from jr. high to high school (and I can't tell you the last time I got a regular smile non posed picture from the kid. . . )

I just wanted to share the fact that I'm so happy right now to be his mommy, he is a wonderful wonderful kid, big brother and son and though I am sure these next four years will be quick, since the last 14 1/2 have been a flash -- I intend to enjoy every second of it, even the parts that won't be fun.

Sorry if the pictures are huge, I don't know how to fix that -- and before I go, my youngest son says its not right that there are no pictures of just him in this post so here is my other kiddo -- who will be heading on into 4th grade next fall. Again, where does the time go???

It is so wonderful to hear all the stories of you who are facing graduations this year !

So many joys, so many fears, so many memories and so much unknown.

Mine are 19, 21 & 23. I still remember it all and have been thrilled by each and every stage of their lives. Wouldn't have traded any of them since it is all who they are and who they turn out to be.

Knock on wood we have had no major problems, they have had their health and enjoyed their lives.

One is married with a son and the other two are still "deciding what they want to be when they grow up".

Congratulations raising two beautifully handsome young men. It was nice of you to show us both of them and I like the large pictures - didn't have to put on my glasses, Ha ha ha !:+

Awww, what sweeties, and they love their mom...I'm close behind you with one going into 5th grade and one into 7th. It does go so fast, doesn't it? Now I realize that what everyone said was true when my babies were born - "enjoy it - it flies by...".

I absolutely LOVE this age with my boys. They are so funny, independent, sensitive, and still love on their mom.

We were in the cell phone store yesterday upgrading our phones (oh joy! - but I did get an env2 - way cool!) There was a mom there with two girls about the same age. Those girls had pouty faces, were whining about their phones, and being basically brats and nasty to their mom. Meanwhile my boys are teasing me and play fighting with me and then hugging me...I'm not saying anything bad about girls...but at that moment, I was glad to have my silly boys vs. whiny girls...

Enjoy your handsome young men - looks like you are raising them to be sweet men!

Heidi

Hello:)

Your boys are so handsome! I have to boys too, they’re grown!
Isn’t it something how fast time is moving?

I know exactly how you are feeling. This is my eldest daughter's last year of high school. She is off to University and very excited about it. My youngest is in grade 6. Really, where does time go?

Your boys look really cute. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Heidi – I love my boys!! And know exactly what you mean! (My almost 15 year old still tells me he loves me in front of his friends) – They are silly, funny, gross and sweet all at the same time and I love that! I especially love when one of them (usually the oldest) has a sleep over! For his birthday last year we had eight 14 year olds and three 8 year olds for 24 hours. The house was pure chaos and there was absolutely NO FOOD in the house by the time their parents picked them up but I loved every second of it.

Teddygirl - Thank you for the compliments – it is so amazing how quickly time moves!! It’s so important to live in the moment!!!

Debbie ~ Your emotions are probably even higher than mine with your daughter leaving for school! At the same time I am sure you are so very very proud of her!! Thanks for the kind words about my boys – I love to share pictures of them!

Same boat here. My youngest goes to the middle school next year (for us that's 7th grade, long story) & our oldest starts high school. My oldest turned 15 yesterday & is several inches taller than me.
You are all right, where does the time go? These years are great, they're independent enough, but so far still love me & need me!!

Wow, what lovely boys you have! Thank you for sharing your boys growing pictures.

Same here. My older one is going to Middle School (6th grade) this coming fall. I can't believe it. When I close my eyes, I can still remember the date she came out. She came out one week early, little bit smaller than my younger one. But wow, when I was in her 5th grade graduation ceremony, I couldn't hold back my tears. My sweet, stubborn, lovely girl is growing up, like a flower bud opening up without being noticed. We've being thru some hard time of our relationship. I never realized that being a parent is so challenge. Both of us made mistakes. But love keeps us together, I hate to admit it but it is true, I grow up with my DD. I am still learning. It is hard journey. However, I never regret because I would never change anything for her. I thank God sending her to me. This is precious and beautiful gifts.

Oh, enjoy your time with them...

Beautiful pictures!! Nice that you shared them with us.

I've got two big transitions this year. My baby is graduating grade 8, we're thrilled to bits that her peers elected her to be valedictorian of her class. My eldest daughter is done high school and will move away to University in the fall. Makes me remember that sweet old song...turn around and you're 2, turn around and you're 4, turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door. Bittersweet....how the heck did they grow up, yet I haven't aged a day :+ :+

Take Care

Thank you ladies for your kindness – after I posted those pictures last night I had some doubts about whether it was just too much – I was in the moment very melancholy – you have all made me so happy that I shared!!

I thank God for my children as well – even when things aren’t so rosy I am grateful -- they are truly a gift.

And I so agree with the statement “how the heck did they grow up, yet I haven’t aged a day!!”

Thanks Again!! I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Travis :)
