Gliding Discs - anyone got a review?

Hi,

I thought I would try Gliding Discs instead of Cathe's paper plates (those just seem like a recipe for disaster to me). Anyone tried them before?

I love them!!!! They have them at my gym and they work well on short carpet. Much better than paper plates, IMO!

It depends

I do think the gliding discs are a definite improvement for paper plates esp. depending on the surface. I have them and they work great on carpet, but now I have a laminate workout floor. I think I am going to be using towels instead of paper plates unless it is too slippery, I guess we'll see.

Where is everyone getting their gliding discs from? I gather these are for doing some of the new leg work on STS as we have seen in some of the clips? Thanks!

Clare

You can get them from http://www.glidingdiscs.com/ or from www.fwonline.com or you can substitute ValSlides (occasionally sold at Target) or you can get furniture movers similar to the ones shown here (I know nothing about this company, I am providing a link so you can see a picture only... http://www.ezmoves.com/ ). The furniture movers can be found a walmart, lowes, home depot, westlakes aces hardware, Staples or other furniture / office supply stores. The ones shown on EZ moves are very similar (if not the same) as the ValSlides.

I have the Gliding Disks, and they work great. I bought the ones for carpet, but they actually also work just fine on the rubber puzzle mats that I bought a few months afterwards. Just be careful -- they are really slippery!

I ordered mine from Wal Mart; I had them shipped to the store so there was no shipping charge. I really like them, and they came with a DVD of 3 basic workouts so you can get familiar with how to use them. I think they cost about $20.

The Valslides come with cloth "booties" that cover the plastic, sliding part. The booties are intended to protect hard surface flooring like wood, laminate, tile, etc. I like the rubber padding on the non-sliding side of the Valslides. It helps your shoe grip the slide.

I have Glidiing Discs (two pair for carpet, one pair for wood floor). (I don't know how I got that extra pair for carpet, but I could use them for three-limbed work, like 'swimming' on the floor!)

They work great. Definitely worth the price.

I like that they are not disposable, like paper plates.

I like that they are easy to pack, and slide really well on hotel carpetting, so they're the perfect 'equipment' to take along while travelling.

love mine. they are so totally worth the $20 price tag. oh i love the mindy workouts that go with them too!
