Gizmo's Christmas Picture (and Amber too!)

We took Gizmo and Amber's Christmas pictures this morning. We were hoping to do them together so we could use them both on a Christmas card, but Amber is just sooooo miserable dressed up. :) After we took all the pics, we did get a good one of her. Since she's been on our Christmas cards before, we'll probably use Gizmo this year.

Suz,

Thanks for sharing, this is way too cute!!!:D My dogs won't cooperate for anything like this.. Tried for Halloween once.

That is too CUTE!!!

Amber looks identical to my dog, Roxy (1 1/2 yrs). We got her at the shelter a few months ago. Great dog! What kind of dog is Amber? Roxy is 1/2 Shepherd, 1/2 Lab....
only problem we have w/ her...she seems to have seperation anxity...would you have any tips to break her of this..she tears apart the house, along w/ messing!!

Take care & Have a great TURKEY DAY!!!

Thanks guys! ;)

Jennifer - congratulations and good for you in getting a shelter dog. Both of ours are from the shelter. We got Amber a few years ago when she was about a year. She's a pit bull. A total sweetie! As for the separation anxiety, I'm no expert, but the first thing I would say just for her safety and to save your house (and your relationship with Roxy) is to crate her when you're not home. I saw an episode of The Dog Whisperer - which I HIGHLY recommend if you don't watch it (it's on the National Geographic Channel) - and there was a dog on there who had really bad separation anxiety. I think it was a Doberman. Anyway, I'm going to really stretch here to try to remember, but if I remember correctly it boiled down to the woman felt bad b/c she had gone through a divorce and had split up her dogs and the woman was pretty sad herself and she just felt so bad for the dog. She wasn't taking a leadership role and this made the dog feel very insecure. So Cesar had her start walking the dog every day (a BIGGIE in his book for establishing a pack leader role - the dog isn't allowed to walk in front of you, you walk with assertiveness, etc.) and the dog started to gain more confidence and also having the woman take more of a leadership role made the dog feel more stable.

All that being said, I could totally have a few different stories mixed up b/c I watch them all faithfully. :) Season 1 is out on DVD if you haven't seen it. Season 3 just started a few weeks ago on Monday nights. I think anyone who has dogs should watch it. You might want to go to http://www.dogpsychologycenter.com and check it out. I would read about pack mentality in Cesar's tips section. I hope some of this helps!

Amber - believe it or not when we got ready to snap some of the pics his tongue DISAPPEARED! That never happens! I was like, "Wait. Wait. Giz - stick out your tongue!" :)

Delfin - yes, that sounds pretty impossible! I would have loved to have our parrots in the pics, but no way.

Lisa - thanks - I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

Thanks Christine. :)

Oh gosh Suz! TOO CUTE! Looks like Amber resigned herself to posing for the pic figuring she wouldn't win the fight, ey? LOL Gizmo got BIG but he's still got that puppy look about him...maybe it's the tongue?? LOL Love the pics!!!:)

Yeah Wendy - I had a dog biscuit in my hand for Amber. :) Gizmo did get big, didn't he? But he was afraid of the nutcracker! As long as it didn't move (by me moving it) he was okay. :p Speaking of getting big, I just can't get over how big Joey is getting. I'm shocked every time I see your avatar!!! He's just adorable!
