I was one of the many who found the kicking and punching combinations in KickMax too easy. I've been doing the intensity blast once a week since I got the series--because once I worked up to the point that I didn't dread it, I didn't want to lose that. For a full kickboxing workout, I've been doing KPC and inserting the KickMax blast challenge after KPC's high intensity drills (a fun combination if you have the time). You can also add KM's leg conditioning drills before KPC's abs.
Today I gave KickMax another try. I really got into the combinations this time. My heart rate was around 24-26 for a 10 second count (I average 28-30 after the blasts--especially the power lunges and the plie jacks), and I felt like I was working at a pretty decent moderate level.
Cathe always says that "you get out of it what you put into it," but I think that really applies to this workout. I would look at her after the combinations, sweating and breathing somewhat hard, and wonder "what am I doing wrong?" For me, it just took a little more practice, focus, and really giving it my all.
Anyway, it still may be way too easy for some, but it might be worth another try for others.
Hope this helps,
Carol F
