Gin Miller

Has anyone ever done Gin Miller's hi/lo tape New Body Workout?? I know without asking that it's not as intense as Cathe's but for those of you who have done this tape is it worth buying at all?? I need another tape to throw into the cardio mix on days when I just dont feel up to Cathe, but I definitely dont want to waste money on a tape, or waste time on a workout that is too easy even for the less intense days.

Thanks,

Stacy

I've used it. The aerobics is fun, but Gin gets a bit too goofy for my tastes (especially after repeated viewing). If you can stand her imitations of Elvis and other goofyiness, it's a good solid tape, with a weight section tacked on the end.

Stacy,
I don't have the New Body Workout tape, but I love Gin Miller's Intense Moves. A 53 minute intense tape, it is a great addition to my Cathe cardio tapes. I highly recommend this one. Gin is a bit goofy, but its not an annoying goofy. Amy Jo

LAST EDITED ON Jul-16-01 AT 04:16PM (Est)[p]Stacy - Hi, I have the New Body Workout tape. It's OK, but it's nowhere near close to being as fun as Cathe's tapes. I was kind of disappointed in it because I bought it after I got hooked on Intense Moves and I expected more. Gin acts absolutely silly in New Body--annoyingly so. She does imitations, strange voices, really odd stuff. Her outfit is weird, too. Kind of like a tamer version of Cory Everson's biker workout gear in Get Hard Arms & Shoulders. The workout itself isn't intense, but it is OK. The choreography is elementary. I don't do it anymore, to be honest, because there isn't much of a fun factor. Plus I feel like screaming "shut up" at Gin after she does one weird imitation too many. I'd save my money if I were you. Just my opinion! Suzanne

I had to send this tape back to CollageVideo--my husband couldn't stand listening to Gin Miller. She's NOT THAT FUNNY! I wish instructors would understand that if a joke or impression isn't that funny to begin with, it's definitely NOT going to get better with repetition.

do you know of any other step videos that are similar to Reebok's Intense Moves. moreover, i posted on this site but i couldnt read the replies to my post! funny thing is i could read the replies in other posts!

IM and Reading Replies

Hi Hippychick --

I had that problem for a while and discovered this: when you open your post, hit the "refresh" button. My version of IE5 was saving the image of the LAST time I looked at my post, which was resulting in my not being able to see new responses.

Have you ever tried Karen Voight's Energy Sprint? I don't think it's as tough as IM, but it's a long tape that builds interval endurance and I still pull it out occasionally -- it's got perky music and a nice realistic cast (including one woman who's obviously very fit but has a rounder body type -- nice to see that for a change!)

Don't pay full price

LAST EDITED ON Jul-16-01 AT 11:35PM (Est)[p]If you can ignore Gin's bizarre behavior and comments it's a good intermediate tape. When I originally purchased it, I was so disgusted with her demeanor in the workout I couldn't get past the warm-up and wanted to sell or trade it! Gave it another chance and it's a good, solid workout. I wouldn't pay full price for it,though. See if you can get it on an exchange or at Half. com.

The toning section is useless unless you're a beginner or seriously out of shape.

RE: Sending back tapes

Yes. I also sent a tape back by The G-Force because the moves could really not be done on carpet. I also have had them replace tapes if the tracking is not good. You have a full year to send back tapes to CollageVideo if you have reasonable complaints.

I here you Suzanne, in the New Body video, Gin came off more like she was trying to lead a bunch of toddlers through a workout or something. I previewed the video, then put it a way and have never gone back to it. I've had if for about 4 years and I have no intention of doing it. Life is too short to waste on something I know I won't like.

If you are looking for something for really easy days.. her Step Reebok tapes are pretty good. There is a Power Step and also "The Step" tape. The quality of the set and sound is excellent, but it is nowhere near as challenging as Cathe's stuff. And, she stays serious in this one, she doesn't act dorky.

Lynn

Yeah! Why does she do that? I bought one tape called the best of step reebok...and I thought"What?" This is their BEST? This is the creator of step workouts? Anyway I got aerostep after some posts I read and that one was okay, she wasnt disgusting there...I may get intense moves after all the posts I have read...but it's nice to be forewarned on the label about DORK levels.

Don't be scared off Intense Moves

I've owned it for a long time and love it, and Gin's not goofy at all. It's a terrific tape, go for it!

RE: Don't be scared off Intense Moves

I agree with Kathy S. No goofiness in this video and it's a great, powerful workout with no tricky moves. Great for a day when you want to work hard but woke up with two left feet.

I have to agree with the above posters' comments about Intense Moves - it is one of my favorite workouts of all time. I really like Gin and I don't think she's goofy or strange at all.

Joyce
